Original long version 1975, vocalist D. Summer, electronic music, Giorgio Moroder. Video produced by: oirad1962. New video with new images and HQ audio. Search my channel, Donna Summer Love To Love You Baby "New Version" Thanks!!
Luckily for me I already taped the 17 minute club erotic version in 1975 on Casette tape. RU-vid strike policies are in effect so I know why you collaged 17 minutes of cleaning the song up and removed what even Donna Summer thought was an unauthorized "negative meaning she didn't sign off for" in light of her future many other songs and albums more clean (including Bad Girls)!
For the moaning part, she made everyone except Giorgio, leave the room, and all of the lights had to be out. Look what happened. The original 12". May our Queen Rest In Peace.
@@jc35019 Giorgio at alive event in New York, 2014, said he was in the booth while he made everyone else leave, and left donna alone in front of the mic.
Realize I’m being annoyingly technical here but I think you mean conceived 😂 Although jamming this in the delivery room could maybe ease the process lol
I am 61 years old, and I can honestly say that this is the greatest disco song ever made, and there is not a single foul word in it. There is no other song that comes close. It was a great time for all of us disco freaks. Nothing will ever compare.
@@k-leb4671 IMO I would not describe Donna's moaning as foul. Lustful yes, foul no. Men make all kinds of sounds during sex; no one says they're foul. Why describe a woman's moans as foul?
She was my favorite female singer in da 70s n 80s. N mow Her music had a true meaning to it, Casablanca music, there r female ive meet looks like her, n they ask whos donna summers, i chuckled n say you dont know what r missing, just Google it. Boom
I was 11years old when this song came out this is when music was outstanding I will be 60years young in July and I am still listing to Donna summer music today in 2024 Donna summer music will never get old miss you Donna summer keep rip
Very true, dear NotSoSweet ... not that any of us would ever want for this vinyl to ever be 'scratched'. That would be just too much pain for this RU-vid community.
This is called being patient and telling a story through instruments, erotic backdrop or not. Just a complete masterpiece in music making that does not exist on this level anymore. One of a kind voice, Donna Summer💚
I was 8 years old when I first heard this on the radio. I asked my Mum what are those strange noises that the lady is making......I can still see my Mum's face going the brightest shade of red I have ever seen lol!
50 years ago I danced with a beautiful lady to this record, an experience I will never ever forget !! Shivers were going up and down my spine the whole time.
Once Giorgio Moroder concluded with the recording and editing of this song, he was not sure how the public would react to it, so he organized a party and there he "casually" made this song be heard, the reaction of his guests was incredible who asked to hear it over and over again, that's how he concluded that it should be released as soon as possible, the rest is history
Almost right, Giorgio send it to Neil Bogart who was having a sex party when it arrived. Playing it everyone kept asking to play it again and again... Cause it was the perfect song for that massive orgy haha.. Neil then called Giorgio and asked for a longer version...
@@JesseLeeHumphry but really though! Not like this music just happened out of no where. Donna walked so Meg can run. Lol jk not really but you know what I mean 😂
Giorgio Moroder the genius behind this Disco masterpiece- capable of repeating the same tune just the right number of times til the brain is saturated but not fed up with it-
Me too and all her fans . She was in a league of her own ..She's in heaven continuing to sing and delight . This song and extended version is one of the biggest hits ever. It's timeless and will live on .
I remember watching her for the the 1st time on Soul train. I was about 6 or 7. My Dad, and uncle were watching with me. I noticed she was making these funny sounds and I looked at my Dad and uncle and they were both smiling ear to ear. Then out of nowhere my Mom comes in and flipped the channel and said " how could you watch this sh**t in front of our son"? Needless to say the party was over..lol
This original version is an absolute Masterpiece. Music that blows your mind. 17 minutes of pure ecstasy. Not for a second does it let go. My favorite part. Just the bass, slowly building up, reaching a crescendo and then, a sudden drop. BLISS. A rage during the 70s. Still so cool. Heard it after years and LOVED it. Music for the ages. 😍😍
I actually first remember hearing the song I had a AFS track that all the neighborhood kids used to come in my my basement and we would race but on the AM radio that's when I first heard this song by Donna Summer I love the song ever since and I'm still listening to.
In case you've forgotten, she was a fairly good actress as well. Not only did she star in "Thank God It's Friday", but she also had a recurring role on "Family Matters" as Steve Urkle's Aunt Ona from Altoona. She will never, ever be forgotten. RIH, Donna.
For those wondering, the other musicians are backing vocalists Betsy, Gitta Walther, and Lucy O'Neale; guitarists Molly Moll, Nick Woodland, and Pete Bellotte; bassist Dave King; drummer Martin Harrison; percussionist Bernie Brocks; keyboardist-percussionist Giorgio Moroder; keyboardist Michael Thatcher; and string player Franz Deuber.
Yes Andrea 619 . She did pass very young. After a Post Mortum, it was, as she said herself, down to the toxic air when the twin towers came down. She was in the vicinity at that time. The song I Feel Love, studio video version, put many electronic bands on the road. Damn Right. Good luck 619, regards Daz
She was an angel on this earth and passed without any fan fare or anyone even knowing she was sick..I love you Donna and alway will..god bless you Donna. I know your in a better place. You were the best...
No Words. I was 15 When my Big Bro bought this!! 1975. Wooohooo 😍. Instant Donna Summer Fan. Shout Out To Giorgio Moroder, Producer. Mr. Moog Synthesizer. And Munich Machine Maestro!!
She was a incredible talent and voice.. a beautiful woman inside and outside. She is missed. I miss those days so much. These days now are so sad and pointless...
I totally agree. The arrangement of the music sets your mind in motion, to another place and time. I was born in 1974,but was always fascinated by the 70s.It was a carefree era that I would've luv to experience. This amazing song reminds me of that.✨️
70s WAP >>> I’m a 90s kid who’s thinking of doing a ‘best of 70s’ playlist and then I came across this for the very first time. Definitely adding it on there 💯
I was around in the late 70's and remember they had an edited version of this song for radio play. Edited out all the moaning and groaning. Or else it would never had gotten air play. Donna was the queen of disco, never be anyone like her again. RIP Donna.
Just after she passed, I played this song on a jukebox at a bar/restaurant that I go to regularly. I chose it from a greatest hits compilation so I was expecting the 3:22 single version. Turned out to be THIS version. Of course, heads began turning after about ten minutes, including mine
When I first heard this as an 18 year old in 1975, I was totally bowled over. Fantastic voice, instrumentation and arrangements of the different sections to the song. I love the way the singing and the instruments just give way to just the bass at 4.00 before the other instruments come back in again and I love the way that flute comes in at 9.00, just stunning! We love and miss you, Donna.
Yeah , this song is a beautiful 17 minute suite . Yes the production , along with the strings , horns , the band , n Ms. Summer's sensual vocals are quite beautiful . I was a horny teenager , when this great song first came out lol .
Music of this era had amazing production quality. Highly underrated and oft maligned for no good reason. I'm currently rediscovering just how good it was. Fucking love it, let them laugh!
Donna summer had an amazingly strong voice .....and it's amazing how she sung this song in such a low high pitched voice .....she once said the moans were so personal she asked to be in the studio alone.
@@shawnbruce6934yep, she said she couldn't do the moaning and groaning in front of four men, understandably.,so she asked that they just let the recording go and dim the lights and pull curtains for her privacy, which they granted her being the gentlemen they were......She actually said she recording those moans laying on her back on the studio floor....
Let’s give credit to all of the musicians, arrangers and recording engineers and all of the people behind the scenes. The greatly talented and sensuous D.S. brought it together for us and gave all she had to please our audio and visual senses. Thank you!😘🌈
Donna Summer's first hit in the US, I remember dancing to this at the clubs back in the mid 70s. It is certainly one of the most sexually charged songs I have ever heard in my 60 plus years. She only did the recording after her and co-writer Moroder could not find the right voice for this song. Summer had many songs including many top tens but this is the song in my opinion that she will always be known for. If you are going to listen to this song, the 17 minute version is the one that should be listened to. I believe it took up one side of the album when it came out.
I was 25 in 1975, I should have danced to this! but somehow I was not into music at that point in my life...just discovered Donna Summer, now aged 73!!!
17 minute version, As strange as it may seem. I never took this as a perversely song, growing up in the 70s, I don't know, maybe I'm from another planet. But I took this as an incredible piece of work. Nothing, I mean nothing like I've ever heard before. I was a instant fan of Donna. Just an absolute MASTERPIECE. The collaboration of human voice and music are just magical. I can't say enough. I know she stop singing this at her concerts. But when I seen her, they sampled this and the audience just absolutely went wild. I always come back to this. How this was not on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is beyond me. Height of the disco movement.......R.I.P. Donna.
When this was first played in the gay bars, it was as if thunder had struck. The first few notes and a huge gasp followed. Everyone had to get on the floor and dance. Such a sexy song, and it allowed you time to get to know your dance partner, too!
oouu thank you for the twinkle toes report on this song lol . did not know that never played for the other team . with that being said on the real each there own but i still have to clown or crack on that but dont hold that against anyone if they go that way long as they dont try me with prison lovings . lol thisn song is a clasic
Tasha Williams I learned most of my music on 8th and Spruce Street Camden NJ and WDAS FM Philly- the same place you got your musical knowledge. lol thanks for the compliment.
I still remember the first night we heard this on the radio...We could not believe it...LOL...oh man there had never been anything like it...then I remember dancing to it at the discos in the French Quarter...the 70s were a blast
I was working in Oman in 1981 when I purchased this cassette. I was not familiar with English music, but purchased the cassettes, taking a risk. The photo is the same as shown in the video of the song. I purchased two cassettes. The most popular was Love to love you baby and Try me try me. The voice and feminine tone was and is unbelievable. From the comments below, I understand all who listened to Donna Summer felt the same way. We really miss you Donna...It is music plus feminine feelings nobody else can imitate.
I first heard this song on FM radio late at night as a young teenager, as some Los Angeles radio stations refused to air it on AM radio in the day in 1975, almost 40 years ago. Times have changed as there is NOTHING almost remotely worth listening to on the radio now-a-days. My goodness where has the time flown?
RangeRover1961 It's like those sex phone commercials that come on late at night. Lol I loved watching those as a teenager when I was watching Crank Yankers, South Park, The Man Show and Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central. Aww good times. :)
Maybe now you're just listening to bad radio? There's plenty of good stuff on the airwaves, and if you were the aficionado you paint yourself as you'd have realised that.
This song will ALWAYS have a place in my heart. It makes me feel like she was the female version of Barry White. The sensuality of it still blows my mind.
Just beautiful as beautiful as this amazing lady was and always will. Got the pleasure to know her personality and she was the kindness person probably I ever met. Love you my beautiful lady ❤️❤️💐💐🌹🙏🏼🙏🏼💐💐🌹
