If you actually watch the show you'd know that Rick gets most of the insider information. People, agents in particular, talk to him. There have been many times that I've figured that Friedman gets a lot of his insider Canucks info from Rick. I respect Rick as a journalist (and I am happy to live alongside all the 'diverse' people in our lower mainland communities, especially the ones who are Canucks fans). @amateurfun You're all amateur and no fun.
Bieksa is a snot-nosed Canucks homer, Gazdic is a well loved veteran of the Oilers, who was attacked by Vanc trolls and simply returned fire. If you shovel it, then expect it to return.
@@vampfashions I think the issue is more related to the fact that he attacked the organization and fanbase as a whole. I was as disappointed as any at losing to the Oilers, but I never attacked their fanbase or team but suddenly Ive been lumped into this generalization. Does he expect Canucks Sports and Entertainment to police the conduct of their fans on social media? Just a weird take from a guy who probably heard a lot worse on the ice. Block the trolls, move on with your life and get a thicker skin. That was a toxic series from both fanbases and Gazdic's comments reflected that. Elliotte Friedman made a great point. Kevin Bieksa has thick skin. He's a professional. He knows how to deal with the media and the fans in the right way. Not everyone is like that. I'm sure Kevin gets his share of stupid, hateful comments on Twitter, or has in the past, but he deals with it the right way. Yes, some of the comments Luke got were over the line and embarrassing to me as a Canucks fan from people who wouldn't dare say those things to his face. That whole series embarrassed me as a Canadian hockey fan. But you have to be professional regardless, especially if you're in media. If anything, Kevin needs to take Luke aside and tell him it's okay to be pro-Oilers, but if you're an analyst on a national broadcast going into a Stanley Cup Final, at the very least, you can't be saying things that will alienate a large market of potential viewers for Sportsnet. Kevin's not going to go on Donnie and Dhali and blast McDavid and call him scum for the high stick he got away with or call Oiler fans names. Luke just has to learn that he's not just a fan or a player now. He's an analyst and fans across the country are paying attention to him. And you clown yourself when you blame the actions of a few idiots who say horrible things to you on Twitter, which isn't even a real place, on an entire fan base. I'm embarrassed that people would take it that far with him. But he should have found a better way to say what he said and not paint an entire fan base and team with the same brush. He's not a player anymore, he's an analyst on national television. Friedman, Kelly Hrudey, they all deal with the toxicity of Twitter. But they don't say stupid things like that, even on their own regional broadcasts.

I honestly didn't know who Gazdic was until he sounded of on Canucks Twitter. Then he lumps all us fans in this. Sadly, Luke will mostlikely will give an insincere apology and Sportsnet will stand by Luke.
It's a weird take by LG that it's the entire Canucks fan base that is trolling him, along with the idea that no other fan groups behave badly. He seems to be including Canucks media and obviously the team in his ire as well. He's using the trolling as an excuse. We used to hear this sort of thing from oil fans pre twitter. I don't want to see this guy anymore.

In the end he is a fan too, having some bias is natural and has the potential to make the panel more interesting. That said, he is kinda bland, especially went sitting across from Bieksa. I understand that those select toxic individuals on twitter should be embarrassed but he chose to stoop there their level. Pretty entitled and unprofessional for someone in his position. I don't think he should be fired, but unless he wants to become the most hated man in hockey he should probably set his ego aside for a minute and at least apologize to the innocent bystanders that have been caught in the crossfire.
Sorry for the long ramble: So I know how this is gonna sound like I’m just a mad Vancouver fan. I don’t do much on X I barely use it but I do see Edmonton’s fans posting all kinds of stuff that’s nasty and disparaging so come on everyone is like this. What I also see a lot of is CALGARY fans telling us Vancouver fans how much they hate Edmonton fans ! Now about Luke. I first saw this guy on Sportsnet doing commentary after games with the usual crowd of readers and what I saw was so unimpressive. I kept thinking why do they have this guy he seems so awkward and uninteresting. I knew nothing about him I didn’t know he was an ex-oiler until they mentioned it. But for two years or so I kept wondering why is he on TV ? I assumed he was some kind of DEI some kind of diversity hire, they were desperately trying to plug in to the network. I’m not joking about that I just didn’t see why this no talent guy was there.
When people find out I’m a Canucks fan I get hate on a lot. So resort to telling people I’m a fan of the sport and a fan of some teams. Don’t watch it for the team, watch it for the sport and the incredible things they do. Oilers are in the Stanley cup race now, they beat the Canucks, does this mean we hate on Edmonton, no we watch their games like any fan of the sport would and just to see what McDavid is going to pull off, is it going to be 45 assists in the series (I’m exaggerating here), or is it going to be the 4 game winning goals they need. Just enjoy the sport.
Bit of a double standard for people to be mad about this but not upset when Bieksa is clearly biased for the Canucks and against Edmonton (remember he just called Edmonton media “meat-raw, dead, and dumb”). It’s all a bit of fun, there are way more important things to be bothered by.
So he took shots at the media.. most oilers fans that I know hate mark spector. Bieksa never takes shots at the fanbases or the teams. And never goes unhinged like Gazdic. That's the difference... Gazdic could respond to the trolls and rage at them but when you start saying shit about the fanbase and the canucks organization/team (which has nothing to do with any of it) then that is where he lost/crossed the line. Not to mention showing arrogance like he's still on the oilers' team isn't a good look.
The panel for HNIC can't be that competitive if Gazdic is on it lol. He has less than 2 seasons worth of NHL games under his belt. Tom Sestito has more games than him

A public figure losing his cool in public broadcasting over what was said to him in social media... let that thought sink in for a minute and one can tell that Luke Gazdic had a fool of himself. Twitter (or the X) is the most toxic place. People hiding behind anonymity can say the most irresponsible and outrageous things... If public figures cannot brush that off they should just not use social media at all... to take your frustration or anger onto a public forum to air was just juvenile.
Spare the witch hunt. Gazdic is a really good albeit inexperienced voice who made a dumb mistake. His long form interviews are really good. Unfortunately he should stay off of Social Media which caters to lowest common denominator diatribes instead of good dialogue and discussion.
Canucks overachieved this season. At times magical. They however squandered their chance to do something very special. It was inexcusable and disappointing to learn that I care more than the actual Canuck players do. They played fraidy-cat hockey for nearly 6 periods and decided to only play the last few minutes of game 7. There is either actual collusion in the league - Rogers/ Betway. Or they don't care to show up when it actually matters. either way they lost me as fan. NHL = WWF

This is a channel dedicated to the Canucks. The other is a national broadcast where there should be little to no bias publicly displayed. Two completely different things

Gadzic is a whelp. And to say the oilers dusted the canucks...if it wasnt for lopsided officiating in a couple games it might have been a canuck sweep. Both games 2 and 3 were terrible officiating. But any canucks fan knew game 2 was a loss as soon as the refs were announced. And they lost game 4 because our call up for the suspension in game 3 made a terrible play and the oilers scored the game winner on it.
