I attended a Christian crusade and they sung this song. From ever since I've been trying to remember the it's name bcuz it was my first time hearing it. However, Tonight , 27/09/2013 I'm here in my bed and "I will bless your name " came into my mind. I suddenly remember that OMG! That's the song! I searched down youtube and couldn't find it with those words. until I resorted to google with "It is to You". Lord! I will forever bless Your name! So happy, I'm listening to this now! REPLAY!!!

I love this song sooo much and I am so saddened that someone like Donnie McClurkin could pass this off as his own. He gave it to Byron Cage and listed himself as the writer. This song was written by my good friend who lives in the same town as me in the UK... Yes the UUKK. It was recorded on an album as far back as 1996 and to date Donnie has not taken any steps to redress this situation.

I actually heard the Byron Cage version ( I also have the album) long before I even knew Donnie also sings this song; but once I heard Donnie's live version...this is pretty much the only version I listen to now. But all the versions are good...just different preferences :). Be Bless
MizNessaKeys it was actually my uncle that wrote this song. My dad also sings on the album. When he found out what happened he prayed and decided not to take any action because his song is still bringing people to God
@copeyman1961 I don't doubt that your friend could have written the song. But is it not also possible that God also gave the same lyrics and perhaps music too to Donnie McClurkin? He did it in the bible days, so I don't see why God can't do it again. And if he did "steal" it from your friend, the song has been a blessing to many... So please don't be sad, rather rejoice that the song is a blessing to many lives, lives that your friend would not have reached. Just my thoughts. Shalom!
Ive heard many cover versions of this song. And I actually prefer this lyric change...Praise instead of Bless. Im always a bit confused with the "bless" term. For how can I.....a sinful creature...bless God? I can acknowledge Him. I can magnify Him. I can praise Him....but can I bless Him? What does that mean? is that more cultural than biblical? Talk to me people? Help me understand? I love this song!
