I grew up in Orem/Provo close to their studio. Going to the studio, taking a tour, meeting Donny, doing the annual drive through "Osmond Lane" to look at Christmas lights and watching their variety shows was all part of my childhood. It's fun to embrace the nostalgia.

When Donny and Marie were on the phone saying 'Hi to Mother and Father and Virl and Tom.....' I take it they didn't know that Father George would be sitting behind them on the stage as they performed 'You bring me sunshine'! The first time I ever saw the Osmonds was from my bedroom window over looking the A3 in Surrey. I was plane spotting at the time and their cars and police motorbikes passed by in 1972 on their way to London from the airport. (No M25 in those days).

This movie is so very touching and especially at the ending part of it, they're so very close I get so very emotional when I see it because it reminds me so very much our mom and her closest brother when they were very close together with each other especially being that they were into singing too and especially when they would sing and karaoke together back when she was still alive and we would cuddle a lot on each other too as well I just almost kinda always want to cry every time because it provokes my thoughts every time because I was always very clanging with her too like all the time and her closest brother always took us a lot of places too and while we was hanging out we clanged on to each other a lot and when I was little she carried me in her arms a lot everywhere and especially even when we all was hanging out at places together I'm very mournful about this and especially whenever every time I see this movie and/or see the osmonds together at all period.

I only saw it twice when I was 4 or 5 years old, I used to listen to a disco station in my 20’s and I was reminded of the song 🎶 On The Shelf 🎶🪩💃🏻🕺 I’ve had that song saved in my “favorites” on RU-vid for over 10 years. I had the Marie doll and I used to play with her and my Barbies in the dream house. I hope to make it to Hawaii someday! 🏝️

Just now discovered your post. I used to check RU-vid regularly for this film, and finally gave up. Now...here it is. The last time I saw this, was in the middle of the night back around 1980, on HBO. The soundtrack album was a big deal to me and "On The Shelf" was a huge hit in my house. I consider it a true disco classic, a perfect track. I wonder- are there any plans to release this on BluRay? Certainly, by now, it can be considered a camp classic, worthy of revisiting. I like it, just because I genuinely like it, but it could appeal to a different audience as a 'time capsule ' they most likely never saw before. I think it should be reissued on BluRay. But, for now, I really am pleased to have this posting of it, thank you for getting it off the shelf and on the screen!

I had heard that Marie was offered the leading role in Grease. But later on I'd heard that this was a rumour that Marie herself had cooperated in to boost her career. I find it hard to believe that Donny was offered a part in "Grease." He wasn't the street-wise tough-guy type. The only character he would have been suited to playing was Eugene. And he was too famous to play such a minor character.

The 1970's "innocent?" Back then it was believed that the 1950's were "innocent." If you'd told people in 1978 that this year would look innocent later on they'd have replied with "Good God, how awful did America get that 1978 looked innocent?" I was 17 in 1978 so I know. I also saw this movie in the theater that year. The theater was not so full. But I did enjoy the movie and I still have the soundtrack.......on LP! It was wonderful hearing "On the Shelf" again! By the way, that beautiful girl that Donny walks away with at the end is Debbie Glenn, his fiancé at the time of filming. He and Debbie married in the spring of 78.......and are still together. And Debbie is still gorgeous.

This is like The Osmond's version of "The Brady Bunch", when they visited Hawaii and they discover a mysterious and evil tiki statue. It might not have been such a great movie (based off of the bad editing, confusing storylines, and extra characters being introduced), but Donny and Marie still win my heart, as two very talented people and singers in it! And Hawaii sure looked beautiful back in the late 70s, too!
