Do you think kawai ( fish you ate for lunch ) is similar to Australian salmon ? No one eats them here and they grow to about 5-7 kgs i bet the smaller ones are better to eat.
Those big rock pools were beautiful! I would have snuck up and casted the light setup into each before the fish in them had a chance to see me. In the double hook up the fish must have used each other to get leverage to wreck your hooks. Nice teaser for the next episode, can’t wait.
Yeah that can be a mission for next time haha! Your right I believe that happened but it also was a combination of tension with the drag maxed and me palming so a combo of all that led to bent hooks 😫 -Joe
Killer vid. Killer hook up dude! You promised the goods and there it is...well done! Regarding the bent hooks... when you get two fish on one lure the forces on the hooks can be much higher than when there is a single fish. The line buffers that force but when two fish are pulling those hooks with head shakes ... now instead of line to absorb the force it's another Kingy pulling the other direction and the hooks fail because the line is out of the picture and replaced by a solid lure (Hope that makes sense). I've seen it with salmon in rivers before on a single large treble hook. If you're gonna lose one that's a great way to do it. Cheers

I have never been driven to focus my life on the pursuit of money and all the horrible stuff that goes along with that rat race, I have virtually everything I want in life except for the funds to be able to travel outside the US!!! I want so badly to make it to New Zealand and also where the MorningTide boys are on Australia so I can throw some lures at the fish you guys are kind enough to show us!!! Everyone seems to be obsessed with GT's and yes, I see the attraction, of course, but for me it's those psycho Kingies that gets my passions boiling to the surface!!! When you hold one up for the camera, I swear I can look in that fishes eyes and not only see but FEEL the fury and energy that's contained within them!!! I totally believe that when they get hooked, they fully understand this is a battle, winner takes all! Either I'm pulling them in the water, or they're pulling me out, and its plain to see that when you have TWO hooks on a single lure that were nearly bent STRAIGHT!!!! I've never seen anything like that sir, unbelievable! Thank you so much for not only going through the hassle of bringing all the extra camera gear so we are able to join you on your journeys, but mostly for reigniting my love for fishing by introducing me to a species I was not aware of until now!!!! The other day some crazy lady nearly started screaming at me when she thought I was too close, I whipped out the tape measure and showed her how silly she was being! Its not my fault you're that worried about the situation, if it scares you that much how about NOT leaving the house to buy 20 bucks worth of scratch off lottery tickets! Crazy aye, ridiculous nuts crazy 🤣, man part 3 is epic and you can watch it on Tuesday NZ time! Honestly man you need to order an OTL or two, I have access to a lot of lures but I always get best action on the OTL's, they ship them overseas and it's well worth the effort. -Joe
@@JEWildsFishing yeah man, crazy epic stuff for sure! ahahah Regarding the OTL, since the the website was born and I stumbled on it that I've wanted to get my hands on some, but the problem is that portuguese customs love to leave their mark on nice lures...and the price goes out of control. So it will have to wait until I go to NZ! Then I'll bring them to the Azores with me and hopefully put some big AJ's on them ;)

9:07 hate when I hear that sound!! Watching the lure go sailing off into the far blue yonder. I had a chip in the tip guide that cut through my line in about 2 casts. First cast sounded a bit odd, second cast and the line snapped... gone. (No way I would be standing that close to surf like that...)
EPIC footage ! You should try using and Avet SX Raptor reel and a Calstar GFDH 800H rod. You will slap those fish with that rig mate !!! Almost 30 lbs of dual drag on the Raptor and it wings it out there better than Patty Mahomes can hurl a Football !
