Same goes for any kind of lipstick! ALWAYS moistrize your lips first! That way it wont be chapped later and the lipstick loks good for a longer time! (Speaking from experience 😢)
I didn't know it was a makeup tip/advice haha. Since my lips get dry easy I'd usually put some lip balm on before lipstick or liptint. Although I don't wait in between the lip balm and lipstick
Side note: Vaseline is a barrier, not a hydrating ingredient. It doesn't add hydration. It just keeps it in and if you wipe it off, its gone. You may be left with a thin layer. That may seem like you have hydrated lips but really iits not.
@@terynnedubs no Moisturising the skin is it’s point, hydration layer For keeping in, you need an occlusive layer to create a barrier Vaseline belongs to the products that provide an occlusive layer, silicones would be another example
No, you missed a step or two. Vaseline will seal in moisture but it also seals OUT moisture, so if your lips are as dry as the Sahara it's not gonna fix it alone. So 1) lip scrub, 2) moisturise on damp skin & let it absorb for a few minutes, 3) now use Vaseline. Also if you do steps 2 & 3 at night ypyr lips will be in better condition (only use scrub 3 times a week).
@@Robuc-q6b Does brushing your lips with a brush while your lips are wet work better? (i read this online but ion know if its true so im js asking for advice lol)
Yessssss dude teaching my college roommate and her friends to apply lipstick but their lips were dry AF had me breaking into my emergency chapsticks and scrubs like nobody's business!
@@Robuc-q6bno. You would need to use a lip scrub IF your lips are already dry AF and there's literally dead skin peeling off. Because that will remove the layers of dead skin so you can then moisturize a clean base to color on. If your lips are already hydrated you don't need that step, but if you have layers of dry skin already cracked on top? Absolutely you need to power scrub that patch off
Hydrating the lips before a lip tint is a MUST!! For me, it helps even more to hydrate -> exfoliate -> Hydrate again -> lip tint! But be careful!! Don’t exfoliate if your lips are cracked to the point of bleeding, exfoliate just if there’s dead skin that is flaky and coming off easily without pain from your lips! Also don’t exfoliate frequently, just once or twice a week💟
@@jordanjones7985 I use products! I don’t know exactly the name, since I’m not native, but I heard the names “exfoliator” and “scrub” (it’s that creamy stuff with sand-like texture). Use one that’s specific for the face tho! Face is very delicate, and using body exfoliator on your face can cause more harm than good
Correct me if I'm wrong but, aren't it's not recommended to scrub your lips as it's delicate and has thin barrier? Face and lips have different type of skin layer.
vaseline is an occlusive which means that it is going to seal all the moisture that is already on your lips and not actually hydrate/moisturise your lips if they are dry and cracked to begin with! if you're looking to hydrate and moisturise cracked lips, i would recommend lip treatments with glycerin, fatty oils etc or simply using your moisturiser (that does not contain active ingredients like bha, aha, retinol which can be a bit harsh on the lips) on your lips
i recommend CeraVe healing ointment or Aquaphor for your lips. The tubes last forever and I even use them for any dryness on my face before cleansing in the shower. Plus you can use the Aquaphor for new tattoos :D
Well its not exactly supposed to “hydrate” it just soaks the dead/crusty skin so that it doesn’t look as crusty it doesn’t get rid of the dead skin either so if u want to do that for smoother looking lips u actually gotta use lip scrub
@@fartsmella9267I am not trying to start an argument or anything it's just that if you don't normally put on lip balm, then it will probably be dry and patchy
Same. I'm buying lip tints because they're easy to apply, and even Korean bloggers apply it with fingers. What she shows doesn't make sense. If I had that much of a time, I'd go with lipstick.
@@Chuuyascoat.dry yes patchy no. It wont be patchy it smudges everytimes your lips come in contact with each other. No lipstick or stain will be patchy. And its obvious thats ur lips are dry especially if u neva use lipbalm
Vaseline DOESNT moisturise. It SEALS, thereby preventing the loss of moisture. You can use it on top of a moisturising balm to seal it in for an awesome duo.

I do apply balm or moisturizer prior to lip tints often…but sometimes I’m way too lazy for that extra step. Really great tip tho, it really makes a difference
personally i like the look of it being darker in the middle and lighter on the outer parts. i usually apply mine close to my mouth and dab it around a little so it creates that affect
Why are you commenting when you could go outside and live your life? I suggest you see a psychologist for that attitude. Also, before you are going to hate, how about you actually go and pass kindergarten and find out accents come from where you learned english, what your first language is, where you grew up, who you were surrounded with, etc. If you really care that much just know you can't type either. "Talkin", I can't even see this without cringing.

The gradient popsicle style lips you critiqued is actually us following the style of Korean makeup where they do a gradient like that with their lip tints.
IKR Same lol, Plus not all lipbalms do that so I keep it on still after lipliner and b4 I put on lipstick with my ones because they never do tht lol :)
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!! I always wondered why my lip tint always sticks to my inner lips but comes off my outer lips… As people never mention this problem. They always say the opposite “stays on outer lips but not inner lips”. Finally someone who is addressing my concerns!!!
