@@mallygd774 He's been entering tournaments in Mexico and Texas a long time before netplay. He was top 20 in his region in Mexico. He's not a top player in the world, but I think he has a very well developed combo game with Roy vs spacies. You should check out his Roy combo videos called "DestROY'd" and "DestROYd Too". He's a sick Roy.
@@Rael0505 1. He plays a gimmick characters the people in his regionals dont know how to counter. When He makes it to top level play he falters because Roy isn't competetive and all Lag did was learn how to beat low-mid level players using a trick. 2. Sick is an opinion, Roy to me is lame and I used to play Binding Blade as a child. Martha is lame and well. Their combos don't look cool, they don't look cool. Nothing about them is cool. But once again, that is an opinion. 3. Even if he is good and his combo game against the most played characters is 'insane' as he uses a character they don't know how to fight, he still needs to learn a bit more about the metagame and maybe pickup Marth if he wants to actually place well.
@@mallygd774 He plays Marth in bracket sometimes too, especially in dubs. He also took Zain to game 5 here in Roy dittos in this video so I would bet he could beat you too lol
Its clear that Zain is carried by his actual knowledge of the game while LAG is carried by his knowledge of the character. If Zain were to take some pages out of LAG's book, he would actually be the better Roy, but in LAG's defense Zain is arguably the best player in the world and in another year or two has an argument for being the best of all time if he keeps staying at the top.
@@4purs Can't tell if you're saying he doesn't have a shot at being considered the goat or if you're saying of course he has a chance of being considered. I think its a hard thing to say whether he'll truly be considered the goat anytime soon considering so far in his era he hasn't had as big of competition because his first big year was after the release of Ultimate and we saw a lot of top players kind of stop playing right before he showed up like Sfat, Armada, M2k, Swedish, Crush, Pewpewu, KJH, etc., and then his next big year was fucking 2020. His only real competition throughout all of 2020 was Mang0 and iBDW.
@Adam Thompson Yes you certainly can fault him for his best year being 2020. Competition has been much weaker and less broad since his rise to the top for multiple reasons, but the biggest reason being corona. Playing melee online is objectively different than playing in person. I'm not saying he definitely isn't the best player of all time, but we need to see how things go once in person events are back fully. If he were to quit now, right before in person events came back, everyone would always wonder what could have been and people would likely still consider Armada the best player of all time.
@@Thomas-nz4si Sorry but "competition has been weaker" is completely false. The competition in the scene today is so much stiffer than it ever used to be. Players are the best they've ever been and it's not close.
Lag utilizes roy in a way zain just doesn't. His punishes are stupid good and he juggles zain on fd with up air like zain chain grabs a spacey. Then his counters and use of side b moves are so on point. Zain may nudge him out with skill, but lag is definitely using like 98% of roy whereas coming from marth, zain I feel is only at 92-95% rn. Insane set.
I love how LAGwars uses roys dancing blade like an actual rekka. I'm so used to dancing blade either being used for just the first hit or just a generic kill move so to see LAG pull out these weird hits for different angles and shenanigans is just glorious
That’s not true, atleast not for Yoshi. Plenty of high level Yoshi players out there: BZimm, Whiskers, Nebbii, Widlar, Plata and some other japanese guy that plays red yoshi.
