Second the shout out on their Bass Player. Doobies we’re in the same league as Steely Dan as far as incredible Musicians and Talent. Blessed I grew up in the 60s & 70s. The Bands were real musicians. A great time in America ❤️🇺🇸
If you need to just feel happy, listen to these songs. And the band still rocks. They're touring this summer, new album coming out. I'll also never understand why Tom Johnston isn't in any conversation of the best front men, lead singers/guitar player from the 70's (and his voice is still incredible.) The most underrated lead singer/song writer from any band.
Actually, Bassist Tiran Porter joined on the Toulouse Street album, Drummer Keith Knudsen joined on the Stampede album (he toured on the Vices tour prior). Still a classic lineup.
Hilarious- he’s wearing it like a 65-year old mensch in a NY hotel looking for her poodle who escaped in the lobby. Meanwhile the bassist looks like he’s going skiing.
These 2 songs were the standards at our Friday high school dances after the football games, there was nothing like rocking out and letting it go. Such great times I sure miss them😊👍
I was a teenage fan of rock music all through the 1970s, and this lineup of the Brothers was a big part of it. China Grove, Listen To The Music, Long Train Running were 3 of my favorite songs. Then at the age of around 30, I began joining bands around Seattle playing electric bass. I thought I knew who my influences were, but the style I developed had elements that were familiar to me although I was unaware of it's origin. At some point I heard one of these old Doobie Brothers songs and it hit me. It was the Doobs' Tiran Porter. I was laying down lines to original songs that reminded me of his style, and I didn't even know his name at that point. I do now, and I will never forget his name as long as I live.
Nice man, I remember tommy giving an interview recently talking ab his exit which was mostly due to health reasons but he mentioned the doobies changed their sound after he left and wasn't sure where he fit in... this is a classic example of old school version and I def prefer
If you weren't around in '74, of the three front men, the lead guitarist looks like your average '70's rock star, the man on bass looks like he's "dressing for the weather", as we were advised to do as kids, and the third front man looks like he might have been going out to dinner afterwards. That drummer, behind the lead guitarist... Well, I don't know quite what to make of him, but I don't know how he moved his arms in that jacket. Looked more appropriate for Scott of the Antarctic, than for a rock concert...indoors.
Saw them early on in their rise through the rock ranks..... GREAT band especially with the original members. I grew up near Ridgecrest and,if I remember correctly, Patrick was from there and was quite young when he joined up.....
Ok, here goes..I remember seeing the Doobie Bros. in Frankfurt, Germany in 74-76 in a two night indoor concert with Bad. Co., Tower of Power, Chick Corea, Montrose (Paper Money) and maybe one more band (Santana?) Can't find anything on this...Am I o.k.? Time to check myself in?
Thanks for the fine audio . most of their other live performances on youtube of the audio of this song are inferior to yours. again thanks and peace ! ☮🕊
By the ordem of @CarolMariano. Sabia que o sucesso do Doobie Brothers ajudou aos EUAVa superarem a vergonha de terem perdido a Guerra do Vietnam ?? Listei tô the Music ajudou nisso. #CarolMariano.
