Thanks for the advice! The pace of the main game was more on the horror genre-slowness side which was fine but I appreciate the fast pace of the new Doom.
Game Intros & Finales Me personally, as much as I love run and gun shooters, I appreciate the slow pace and atmosphere of horror games more. But RoE provides a nice mix of both. There is also the Lost Mission, only available in the BFG Edition, which is shorter than ROE, but is much more fast paced and focuses much more on the action aspect. It feels dated however. The BFG Edition has remastered Doom 3 and the Addon to be more accessable to classic DOOM players (It also includes the original Doom games). The game is now brighter, flashlight is attached to the shoulder, there are more items, textures look more polished, but the atmosphere and tension is lost in the process. Holy shit, I almost ended up doing a review LOL. What do you think?
Yeah, right, I think at the time of its release in 2004 the lighting was much more atmospheric than in the BFG Edition of 2012, but perhaps Id Software wanted to make concessions to the old doom fanbase? I think it was a mistake because the whole game was built around horror moments, slower pace and so on, so why change a crucial element of horror atmosphere afterwards. While you mention it: there aren't many good horror shooters, are there? I remember "Clive Barker's Undying" and I wish there would have been a great Cthulu game (besides "Alone in the Dark" from 2008). Left 4 Dead (the witch was scary), Dead Island, FEAR, Condemned, Dead Space are some of the better examples, but perhaps in general too powerful weapons and too much ammo take out the horror of a game. If you have no weapons or almost none like in Silent Hill or Amnesia a feeling of exposedness or helplessness is evoked (at least in me) that supports the horror feeling. But they all have their right to exist :)
Interesting how the plasma rifle from DOOM 2016 looks more similar to Doom 3's one, but the DOOM Eternal plasma rifle looks the same as the one from the original DOOM games.
Fists: Doom and Doom 3: Just keep punching the enemies until they die DOOM: PUNCHES WILL SPLIT DEMONS IN HALF AND EXPLODE THEM INTO A LOT OF BLOOD That escalated quickly, am I right?
That escalated gloriously, am I right? (There, I fixed it for you) :P It's not quite a fair comparison, as the glory kills take effect only when enemies are weakened, and he explicitly mentions DOOM fisticuffs are shown with Berserk mode active. In Doom 1 and 2, berserk mode will let you gib enemies with your fists, though not necessarily in one hit.
I hope some savior of a company could do this with Duke Nukem so that Forever won't be the last Duke Nukem game. We need a great remake, not some travesty.
REVIEWCEPTION Yeah, but I made my original comment 6 months ago, so there was no way I would have known that. Developers just need to understand what made Duke good and not add stupid shit to make a new game.
Doom 2016 is by far the best. The devs spent so much time on it. The music is fucking awesome! The gore, blood, HD, attention to detail... etc. it’s so fucking badass.
Flobbie Rotten True never thought about it , i never used grenades or anything like that , just slugged my way through the campaign shooting and glory killing stuff , was fun tho .
Yes, a form of the hellshot gun was in doom 64, doom 64 wasn't that bad of a game I thought, I mean it's not the original doom but it's better than a lot of doom clones
KoolDawg99 doom 3 looked like quake 2 for me. It lost the Doomguys toughness, badassness you name it, but if you want a game where YOU fear the enemies, go and play it.
Doom 3 it’s like “Oh hi Doomguy. I just want to scare you so much”, but after a short time you are like “This is my shotgun and I’m gonna pump it in your ass”
From what I've gathered from this video, doom 3 is good at making you feel like a boy scout on a cookie run. While DOOM and the original make you feel like an unstoppable badass demon slayer/space marine whose sole purpose is to bring pain and suffering to anyone or anything who's name starts with "de".Well different tastes for different people I guess...
TheFuckingHoundeye Shitty AI, predictable jumpscares, and a map darker than my runaway dad's cock, dragged Doom 3 down. It's a good game, but it deserved what it got.
I dont think I have ever not immensely enjoyed a DooM game. Ever since 1993 every one of them has had aspects that just felt satisfying to use, and all of them may be somewhat different in other regards, but they all have been phenomenal games over my life. I am also very thankful to ID for allowing such freedom to mod their intellectual property, that even when the Vanilla feels a little stale I can always find something to enjoy through mods.
If I remember correctly ID didn't mention anything specific. But if they really want to publish a story dlc and we look at their typical speed it will take a some time, like summer 2017 or January 2018...
Oh yes I remember that one too! It's all coming back to me! Ah yes "idclip" was fun I remember making a speedrun of about 15 mins for Doom 2 with it :D I believe it was for Doom 1 and 2 both, if I remember correctly. I had both of them on the same file and it worked for both :D
Just look at it. It hits enemies with a visible thump, it has a range grater than 1/2 a ft in front of it, it doesn't shake your screen around every time you fire it like you have just been hit, it sounds better and it gets 2 badass upgrades that gives it an explosive slug or a rapid fire mode. I think it's pretty clear if you watch the video what the differences are.
Thanks man! That's annoying. Seems to be their business model and they seem to get away with it under "fair use". And they have their lawyers. But if I would use their videos I would be sued. That's not "fair".
Dinosaurs extinction according to science: "A meteor and extreme weather conditions killed most of the dinosaurs" Reality: Someone has traveled in time and accidentally shoot a big BFG-9000 canon on Earth
the only bad thing I can say about the new DOOM is that it's multiplayer is horrible. other than that I feel it stays true to doom 1 and 2. ID did good.
Darrien Rittner Yes. But honestly, doom isn't really a multiplayer vs game to begin with. At least we Have good old deathmatch. As for snapmap, with the recent free update, *i love it*.
KoolDawg99 Yeah, and the best part is that it isn't dead, like Doom 3's multiplayer (Literally 0 players). Real shame because it was actually pretty good.
Ah,that gun would rekt every single enemy in the game,I prefer the single since it was more accurate and saved up ammo if u know how to use it,I had like 320shotgun shells
Doom 3 Weapons Fists - Instead of wasting your ammo on zombies, just punch them and move away when they're about to hit you! Pistol - Very useful to Trites... Shotgun - The one that sucks. more like a melee weapon. the spread is horrible. but IDK why I always use it... Super Shotgun - Fucking powerful af SMG - Useful to the Lost Souls and Cacodemons. Mach 2 Chaingun - I guess this one was powerful too... Grenades - underrated, use this on spiders! Rocket Launcher - another great weapon! use this to make the Zombies and Imps jump! Plasma Gun - THE BEST WEAPON OF THE GAME. powerful and it makes cute and satisfying sounds. IPL - is this a rip-off of That Gravity Gun in HL2? anyways, still a great weapon. BFG 9000 - Slow but still powerful! Soul Cube - Powerful but you need to kill 5 enemies to recharge it. it's voice turns me on for some reason...
in the new doom and the originals i really like the pistols. in the 3 just looks like a piece of wood attach to a real pistol. and the rest of weapons i really like.
Dude that game shouldnt be under the doom name it has a big story and horror element and doom isnt that doom should be some marine badass killing demons with oversized awesome weapons....but im sure the game is good
@@domy3433 Doom is whatever id software say it's Doom, they are the only ones with that power. Apart from that, I disagree, Doom 3 does resemble the first episode (the shareware one that we all played) of the original game. It was meant to be a remake of that episode, at least I always saw it as such. Later episodes of the original game and Doom 2 open up and introduce more enemies, but the first episode is more horror based with fewer enemies and that's when Doom 3 comes in.
Hello guys!(I am russian,so sorry for my grammar)I think that the new doom is better then doom 3, in my opinion of course And I want to say that auto translation to russian is very funny:) This video is good!I should watch your another videos about DOOM
In my opinion Doom 3 suffers from the NFS:Shift syndrome. It’s a great stand alone game, it it just strayed too far from its roots, and doesn’t even feel like it’s part of the same series as Doom 1,2&4.
I really hate the weapon designs from Doom 3. They all look like they're made from yellowish plastic, and were designed by someone who knows nothing about actual weapon functionality.
@@theacademictaskmaster6481 In the original game he was just a Marine who, after being ordered to fire upon unarmed civilians, assaulted his commanding officer and was as a punishment transferred from Earth to Mars.
+Harbinger Ace It really does answer his question, if anybody could be bothered looking at the description. For this who can't be bothered though, it states that this is not his play style and that he only plays like this to showcase the weapons.
I know this sounds crazy, but... I just want more brutality animations in the next DLC. Like, HUNDREDS more. I want there to be 1000 unique ways to kill EVERY monster. It’s satisfying on a level I never thought possible... it’s a whole new addictive experience. And I just think it would be impossible to stop playing if I knew there were more of them.
For those saying “You missed this/that”: Some of you REALLY need to learn to READ the descriptions (you know, those things with text under every RU-vid video ever). Certain weapons or games are not being shown because the guy making these hasn’t played those specific Doom games. He’s not going to take these existing comparison videos down just to add extra clips and repost them again. That would just be a huge waste of time for him to do.
KalDragon Yeah, I haven't played much of Doom 3, but it kind of reminds me of Dead Space in a way. I know it came out years before Dead Space, but I played Dead Space before I played Doom
+Shane Rivers Yep, Doom 3 is a product of its time. In the late 90s to mid 2000s horror shooters were really popular so ID wanted to dip into that. They did a really good job, too, but at the expense of alienating a good many veteran fans. I liked it, though, and I played the original shareware first. Just had to keep an open mind is all. Also, Doom 3 actually is a much better horror shooter than Dead Space. :P
Heh, yeah! At least the pistol, shotgun and plasma rifle were (as a matter of fact, the plasma rifle was based on the mid-part of a toy gun, held the wrong way round). But the chainsaw was real! Oh yes. That's probably why it's also by far the most realistic and detailed looking weapon of the game.
can you spot the differences between regular shotgun (from doom 1 and 2), super shotgun (from doom 2), regular shotgun (from doom 3), and super shotgun (from doom (from 2016))?
I liked both videos: guns and monsters but it would be nice if you included Doom 64 and Resurrection of Evil. Maybe could be even possible add Doom RPG and an powerups evolution.
