Five different reviews couldn’t convince me to buy this game, but seeing decino display emotion for the first time was what did it for me :D I went and bought it, now I’m trying to stay one level ahead, so that I can try myself first, then see how the level was ACTUALLY supposed to be played.
Me too, this game has been kicking my ass. I barely make it thru each level, then sit back and watch as Decino freakin' annihilates it. Kinda satisfying in a way.
This game was kicking my ass. (Unfortunately, my house got broken into recently, so no PS4 "Doom Eternal" for me for the time being.) Prior to that happening, me and my roommate were watching the HELL out of these playthrough videos.
@@Maggerama I did it to see if the classic pose also had the classic ssg reload, bc it did for the shotgun. Turns out it just puts the reload on the middle of your screen so I killed that revanent for technically no reason. I still feel horrible about it but in a way I put it out of its misery since the demons I fight were once humans :(
Decino: Ok, these are cueballs, can use them to instantly kill any demon, so let's use them wisely... Also Decino: *INSTANTLY SHOOTS ALL CUEBALLS AND THEY EXPLODE KILLING NOTHING*
Yeah, I don't know why did he go back for extra life. And why did he say he didn't want to die, because it would waste 30 minutes.... So what rules is he forcing on himself?
I think it's just meant to be a cool moment. The game isn't just designed to be speed run and brutal, they are trying to tell a story and provide fun set pieces. This was the latter.
@@timsweeney9283 I dunno, considering the game has more challenges (secret challenges, slayer gates and more fast, annoying demons), the remote control Revenant, which has a ton of health and is way more effective at killing things than the enemy Revenants, feels out of place in the main campaign. Better off to have given him a mech to pilot or something, it wouldn't have felt as out-of-place as god-mode Revenant. As I haven't finished Eternal yet, I don't know if they carried this plot point (that some of the demons are drones and remotely controlled) anywhere, but in a game full of big-boy fights, this was basically the equivalent of Anakin killing the younglings.
Finished my first playthrough on ' Hurt Me Plenty ' late last night with just a hand full of deaths! I know, nothing to brag or write home about...especially after watching this masterful Nightmare gameplay. But I must say, this is a top 5 game for me all time, right off the bat! It's Doom 2016 but harder, more baddies ( variety & sheer #s ) , smoother gameplay, better maps & just a experience of it's own! Thanks for showing us how it's done, the right way, on yet another release 😁 Keep it up my friend.
@@superxavxii421 Doom 2016 on Ultra Violence is relatively easy so naturally I started out playing Doom Eternal on Ultra Violence as well. However, the Slayer Gate on this level convinced me to start over on Hurt Me Plenty.
The early game is extremely difficult on harder difficulties like Ultra-Violence, Nightmare, and even Hurt Me Plenty at times, and Slayer Gates are (no pun intended) hell. You make one mistake and you're dead, especially since you have low health and shield, little ammo, no good runes, and no quick kill options like the ballista or BFG, pair that with the fact that anything can kill you extremely fast.
@@wor4656 True. Doom 2016 was much the same way. Seeing as you can replay levels to collect anything you might have missed, it might not be a bad idea to just skip the optional challenges at first then come back to them once better equipped.
8:34 that platform you were climbing up on, hides a “Mega sphere” behind it. I’m actually surprised you forgot about it. But as far as I know that secret doesn’t count towards exploration? iirc Edit: 12:43 you can see the arm cannon glow red when you sniped it. When a demon is doing a scripted event like jumping off a platform, the cannons break animation is put on hold till that animation event is finished; which is why it looks super delayed. But the game recognizes you hit it the whole time he was jumping down. it’s a quirk with the game, but upon knowing this little oddity, rest assured you can move on to the next target xD
decino here I assumed you were an all knowing individual with your speed run strats and the like, how ever; you inspire me to get ready to do my ultra nightmare grind, I’m slowly building a strat against the marauders, ssg blast them heavy cannon snipe them in their stun state, or ballista (never charge the attacks?) / precision shot. Seems to make short work of then in my experiences
Have to say I was thinking about the Revenant part last night and how out of place it was for the game. Like the Doom Slayer couldn't have beaten that section as usual; you don't control any demons at any other time in the game. Also, Stylized Gadsden Flag: -Other people: "No Step On Snek" -Decino: "No Likey Snek" with the snake crossed out
It appears I’m three years too late, it just wanted to say you make this game look like a walk in the park. I have never played a Doom game in my life and started playing this a few weeks ago. I am playing on nightmare and I had no idea what I was getting into. I am finally almost done with this level. Just the final fight to go. Tried it once and decided to wait until tomorrow. I feel like there is no way I can finish this game on nightmare, but I am too stubborn to switch to a lower difficulty. I’m definitely going to be coming back here if I get stuck on any parts of the game!!
4:11 The arachnotron got transparent for a second. The first time I was: "They can cloak now?!" On frame-by frame viewing, it looks like the brain is missing, but the legs are still there.
Doomguy platforming feels like he's channeling his grandfather commander keen. Fitting since if Tom Hall got his way ID Tech 1 would have been used for the unmade commander keen games.
I just passed this mission last night on nightmare myself. Though im not doing a no death playthrough just yet. This is just as intense to watch as it was to play. And yes, that second secret encounter can go die in a fire, its awful.
I'm making a petition that will ask Decino to call Whiplash everytime SNEK from HECK. Right now me and my drunk brother who has no idea what i am talking about signed it, waiting for you guys
I was playing this level, and I had difficulty finding a secret. Thankfully your video helped with finding it, thanks, your videos are always fun to watch! ❤️
@@azogtheeternallyunskilled9704 you mean the part just after the SSG is revealed for the first time? I didn't have too much trouble with that myself, but I kinda got lucky with the Cueballs. I had way more trouble with the 3 fights after you pick up the Rocket launcher. Jfc, screw that entire section!
@@livirus3826 yeah I'm actually getting back into this game after watching a video on a fan made game mode called Brawler. I'd HIGHLY reccomend checking it out
30:28 Decino: "Mostly nervous for the slayer gate. not looking forward to that one." Hell priest: "ARE YOU GROWING TIRED SLAYER? WE WILL BREAK YOUR WILL YET." Was that intentional?
it's actually really interesting watching this again two years later. i watched it when Decino first published it and was amazed at how he beat the mid-level fight-the one that starts at 10:20-because it absolutely kicked my arse the first time i tried it. it took me like 25 attempts to beat it on UV. now i can happily beat it in one attempt on Nightmare, and i can actually see the little imperfections in Decino's play here. having said that, of course, he's improved too, and still remains light years ahead of me, bc UN is still beyond me. one day!
Thanks, Decino, this video alone made me buy this lmao. I just love how they took the time to balance flow, speed, engagements, and when mastering your utilities, you fly through with skill. At the same time? For people who have never played DOOM before? The map sizes allow for long gameplay, and the battle stages remind me allot of how old games like Jak and Daxter paced you. Gameplay is fast too, since we have a shorter attention span market now. Always loved the play-through too, started with videos on Eviternity; what a wad.
I've beaten most of the game and i can say that shotgun grenades are hands down the best weapon in the game. Makes everything pretty much a breeze, except tankier enemies, but those die to lock-on rl. As long as an enemy has a weakpoint, any enemy, shotgun grenades will kill them easy. This extends to even the first bosses
I haven't played this game in a couple years but watching you play makes me want to go back and try Nightmare. I barely beat the game on Hurt Me Plenty. It's very difficult but you crushed it!
I just finished the game a few hours ago, it's amazing, and you are making it look much easier than I did! Also I noticed the delayed "weak point removal" thing in my game too, it seems that if the enemy is doing a unique animation (like jumping from one level to another) and you hit it, it won't destroy the weakpoint until the enemy has fully landed and completed the animation, but at least it actually destroys it instead of eating the hit and doing nothing
Very good job. A very transferable skill to become conscious of from your gaming is not hesitating at all despite being apprehensive and anxious about the task ahead. That is actually a very valuable ability outside of gaming, too.
Thankyou for this playthrough, I couldnt do this slayer gate and realised i purchased the wrong stuff. Restarted the game and did it. Thankyou for the knowledge🎉
when i 1st played this level on ultra violence, the part with the 3 mancubus, i just brute force my way out, wasn't pleasant took out most of my extra lifes i had from the previous 2 levels. You really showed how to use the environment and patience to deal with the demons here. On a side note this level and the next level has a ambiance where you feel like you are in some demonic cult territory mix that with the cultist chants
I'm a bit late to the party as I had to avoid spoiling anything before playing through myself, but boy does it make me feel better that you struggle with the big boy fights and slayer gates like I do. I'm doing my first playthrough on ultra violence and I have been riding the struggle bus all week. Thanks for the quality content, as usual man!
You know, I think I will be waiting for decino to upload a new let's play of Doom Eternal, watch it, get the hang of where to find the secrets, what to upgrade, and then do it myself. :)
I mean I chose different upgrades but what do I know I play on ultra violence lol. I mean the equipment rune is a little weird for me personally I go with either chronos strike or saving throw but I guess he is so good at the game he doesn't need those 😂
I watch decino slay demons because this way I don't have to watch a YOU-KNOW-WHAT-19 related video on every single freakin other channel I subscribed to. Thank you so much for that.
Decino this series has become one of my favorites of yours in quick time ☝️ We’ve never seen this side of you on commentary as best my memory serves, and I’ve never heard so many swears from you before 😂😂 Haha keep it fun, and keep it light like always 💡 Rip n Tear.
15:50 You can, the platform isn't triggered by anything, it just automatically drops. Most people just assume it's triggered by you walking on it because the first thing most players do is walk forward
I don’t know if anyone else said this or if you could be bothered but you missed a mega sphere just before the triple snake fight. While platforming the lift with coffins I believe hides a mega on the lift behind coffins. Life saver for me but not necessary for the 100% as you aim for. But love the videos. Because of you I got the doom itch back and bought every game available for PlayStation (sadly don’t have pc anymore) but i platinum them all and love playing them still. Enjoying the new game. I’m trying to keep a level ahead of your videos so I can watch without spoilers. Thanks for the entertainment!
Have you tried the lock on burst for the rocket launcher yet? I find it really powerful able to kill hell knights and whiplash in a single burst. Found the remote detonation to be a bit weak especially in the splash department.
Decino I love how you go through the levels. Sometime you have a brain fart on the rare occasion when your going through. We all do it. Buts that's okay. And it's funny sometime when you almost get heart attack. Just keep doing an excellent job there when playing doom eternal.
During my nightmare playtrough the earlier levels seemed harder than the later ones. This level (and especially the slayer gate) gave me so much trouble. Also for some reason imps get stuck on the ceiling of one of the arenas and I cant get the 10 combat tokens because of that, I am so glad that didn't happen to you lol.
Fun fact you can make it to the wallclimb in the platforming section with the monkeybar you need to punch open before doing so... Also fun fact the game wont actually let you grab on to the wall until the monkeybar is actually open, seems they blocked that little trick already.
