@@mikeyfrancisz Davoth/The Dark Lord is a walking tragedy and creator of the multiverse while Satan did create nothing, Satan just wanted God's Power and Throne. Davoth only shares some traits with Satan but deep down he mostly basically Darth Vader + Yaldabaoth.

As stated by Hugo Martin, the title of “Ancient God” is rather common when referring to the Maykrs. More specifically, the Seraph class. The holographic Seraphs seen within the World Spear of Argent D’Nur, the Dark Lord’s throne room within Immora, and the Tomb of Souls atop the Ingmore Sanctum are the members of a mysterious council tasked with overseeing all of creation. This is evident with the Doom Slayer’s final confrontation with the Dark Lord, as three holographic Seraphs are seen observing the two Primeval’s engage in ritual combat.
An implication, seeing as Doom cosmology is based on Gnosticism, is that Davoth is not the ultimate creator. He created the physical world, and his Maykrs were a crude technological imitation of the real angels. Those holographic Seraphs could very well be the true angels, as they don't seem subject to transfiguration and don't even have a physical form. They also seem more detached, like they are simply observing events for a _far_ higher power. All the Seraphs and Maykrs we know of conclusively turned against Davoth, so why are these allowing his bullshit to continue?
@@jakeg3733 Few people have been pointing this out, Davoth is not the Creator of the Universe as Midnight kept saying. In fact Davoth never said he created ALL things. The Codex as not whole heartedly Truthful with its readers, mentions the Father is Formless, not a BEING. The urge to jump to conclusion that Davoth is the God enemy is pure cringe.
To be fair, Hugo confirmed Davoth was a fallen angel and while he created they makyrs, he wasnt actually the creator of life. While Davoth was adorn by Immora as a hero, the early Makyrs in Urdak likely knew he couldnt be trusted. This is probably why Davoth couldnt create immortality and why the Makyr's version of Immortality resulted in mutations if Kahn Cycles werent completed (hence why they started looking like squids and wear masks to make themselves look more humanoid)
What’s mind boggling is when someone says davoth “created” doom slayer… so you mean he indirectly made doom slayer as we now know him or do you mean he created doom slayer and sent his soul or what not into the realm of mortals and directly to a place called earth? @@robbieishim_2312 With Davoth being the schemer He is, I like to imagine that He planned Doomguy's ascension since the dawn of man and slowly manipulated and molded Doomguy's bloodline over countless generations into a suitable vessel for His power (basically genetically engineering a clone of Himself through millennia of eugenics). This explains why Commander Keen has an IQ of 314, and why BJ, who himself bears an uncanny resemblance to Doomguy and Davoth, is basically a super-soldier who can go into a coma for 20 years and somehow wake up still just as strong and muscular as ever. They're so exceptional because they're basically just one or two generations removed from a primeval in the world's longest running eugenics program.
The Dark Lord is the leader of Hell's army not a King but a warrior of the Dark Realm. The fiercest among them as only the strongest could rule the demons.
@@Breakaway-ic5gj I want them to answer a plot hole I am dying to know. Was Davoth butt naked from Day 1 or did he have some clothing during his time in Immora. In concept art, Davoth can be seen wearing robes.
Now that I keep thinking about it, the more I am understanding how Davoth is a tragic being, he was trying to save his people, he was trying to be a good man, but like all things, nothing good ever lasts, this being a prime example, I feel sympathy for Davoth, I understand he is the hero of his world, just as the Doom Slayer is the hero of earth, both being the opposite sides of the coin.
@@j_mack1996 I think the Father just launched an underhanded surprise attack, possibly occupying his attention with something else before going in and taking all of Davoth's power.
I wonder if the maykrs saw him being corrupted in his pursuit of immortality for his people and sealed him away, like the codex says, or if they discovered the secret of immortality and were themselves corrupted by the idea and whatever they did to seal Jakkod away began davoth's rage. Hell's corruption being the result of a type of stagnation. So much of the codex is questionable after the reveal that davoth is the true father
To me it seems like Davoth gave the Maykrs a lot of power and once they fulfilled their purpose they did not want to give that power back. Probably worrying that Davoth had no further use for them once they completed their task.
@@Breakaway-ic5gj he did and it came up with nothing, there own souls cannot be contained in there own mortal shells and you can already see the effects of his power being in mortals or normal beings, they all turn insane and become monsters. The maykrs did this to argent soldiers to find the destroyer and all of them turned insane.
There is one possibility here. Remember how Vega says ,,By Hell's law , if the Dark Lord is defeated in ritual combat any demon outside of Hell will be destroyed" , it is possible that , because Hell is connected to the Dark Lord , that he can only be killed in ritual combat by anyone if they can defeat him. My theory is that Vega couldn't kill the Dark Lord because he was neither powerful enough , nor did he fight him in ritual combat. He just took his life sphere out and extracted some power from it , some he kept to himself and some he put into a shard that was later on used in the Divinity Machine. It is also possible that Vega used to be one of the Seraph Maykrs that later on became a higher entity after absorbing some of the Dark Lord's power , it is the Seraphs that later on trap the Slayer into the sarcophagus of torture. Lets not forget that ,,only a Primeval , or something more powerful , can defeat another Primeval" , which indicates that neither was Vega a Primeval , nor was he powerful enough to do it. We know that the Slayer was a Primeval from the start but was later on ,,awakened" after being put into the Divinity Machine. It is also possible that the Slayer wanted to break the Dark Lord's soul sphere , but after being in the Inmore's Sanctum that he instantly realized that the Dark Lord's soul sphere was stronger and more resistant then Vega's , thus needing to be resurrected into a physical form and killed that way.

@@enverpasha3941 it fits to be honest, like humanity Lucifer has his flaws unlike other angels and just like humanity fell as well out of favor with god, but in here, the lore was changed, in gods place, he created them and even loved them. I really would have liked it if Hugo actually put some effort in them and not just turn them into jokes like actually said.
Theory: Quake is actually one of the independent demon lords and quake 1 is set in a deep circle of hell. This also explains why the super shotgun and Bfg are in the quake games
I think Davoth is an anachronism of the name David, eg. David vs. Goliath, with Goliath being the father aka God. Or another version he is a combination of the name's David, and Goliath Dav-oth, which is almost like both names combined, the beast combined with the man, who defied god's will, the primevil Davoth.
To me it seems like Davoth created Slayer specifically for the purpose of killing the Maykrs and the Father. He needed the Slayer to be more powerful than even himself. In order to accomplish this the Slayer would have to be able to conquer and destroy everything in his path. Fighting hells legions repeatedly is just preparation for his eventual fight with the Father. The Slayer being strong enough to defeat him is all part of his greater plan.
Yeah it was his plan and with Hugo's likening of hell's lawd to that of sith, the one where the apprentice must strike the master, then yeah, he doesn't give a damn if he has surpassed him, it was all part of the plan. Heck he even gave Doomguy Argenta.
So the dark lord planned his vengeance and demise? Harsh. I wish the doomslayer at least have a conversation or a small talk before death. The Dark Lord earn it at least.
I dont think doomguy knew anything about davoth’s past. Im pretty sure he only knew that he was the one who indirectly killed his people on earth (and daisy) and fucked over the sentinels
I think the Dark Lord made a gamble with his own plan... By creating the Slayer, he put at risk his own life but that was his only chance to ever be reincarnated again (come back to life) in the first place, so... he had to do it. And if he died at the hands of his own creation, he at least would have taken vengeance against the ones who betrayed him.
@@psychogamin I agree. He needed the Slayer to be powerful enough to beat the Maykrs who had managed to defeat him. This created the necessity making the Slayer unbeatable and ruthless. It'll be interesting going forward how the Slayer and the Father and Seraphim interact going forward. I can see the Slayer having to fight the father at some point.
Legit wondering if Doom Guy absorbed Davoth’s power like it in the original lore. Describing him killing and absorbing the other primeval’s powers, like something out of Highlander.
@@mado-wh4jv Davoth claimed that his power was stolen, and the only one who could have done so was "The Father", meaning that the majority of Davoth's power was inside "The Father"'s Life Sphere when Doom Guy destroyed it, after which the energy was absorbed by Samur-but somehow did not halt his Transfiguration, curiously enough.

even then he still wins, maykrs are virtually extinct at this point, and like it is said, doomguy will come for him, and if wants to be killed, then ritual combat it is, he is a warrior after all. and if he wins then the entire creation is screwed. No one would defeat him. except for the creator that created him.
Just like the Slayer was able to absorb souls of demons and other sentient beings and strengthen from those, so does Vega, but with millions and even billions of Jekkadian and other souls that died when they all sealed Hell and massacred those whom are loyal to him outside his realm as evidence that a war erupted with Davoth's fall and that Immora, a part of his world was being attacked and sieged upon by the Father, his maykrs and even the faction of the mysterious voice as they all hated and souted in enial during the maykrs death. Adding to the fact that he stole his power, the one he coveted, and the shard that doomguy has is a big big big plus.
I'm disappointed with the lore they created. A creator cannot be defeated by its own creation period. Get it for story purposes. But still I wld have gone a dif route
Uhh Androids 17 and 18 as well as Cell from dbz would like to have a word. So would Adam or as he is more commonly called "Frankenstein's monster". Like really where do you get the idea that just because you made something means you are inherently more powerful than it.
I feel sorry for Davoth all he wanted was to protect his people and yet he was betrayed by his own creation but he got his revenge against them thanks to his monster: Doom Slayer.
So he looks like DoomGuy because that's the base look of all primevals/gods ? Or is there another explanation to this ? And if he was betrayed by the Father/Vega, did he become "Satan" and the "God" still survived ? if anyone could answer, that be great !

Opinion Rant: Kinda disappointed that the lore is being written so that we can feel sympathy for the Devil or Lucifer archetype Davoth plays here. The ideal of being the Doom slayer was simply once a pure hatred for demons, evil, wickedness, and the forces of Hell but now he is more so a device of blind rage, a product and a tool of revenge for Davoth, And Davoth, the creator of the doomiverse was actually once the good guy. The same sentiment goes for 'The Father' and the Maykers who are really just parasitic false usurpers of power, betraying davoth but also making deals with hell to secure their immortality through Argent. All of it frankly muddies the waters of who is really the good guys and bad guys. I know we all understand it's just a game but can't you see why it's confusing to make the Satan character Davoth the true creator, and make 'The Father' actually a false usurper and not the true God and creator. I mean real Satanic worship and religion literally teaches and upholds this idea that Satan is the creator so how can a game that portrays fighting against evil and slaughtering demons become just that. I know Hugo Martin hints in the live streams that there is a higher power above Davoth, the Doom Slayer, and the other Primevils. Hopefully, another dlc or the next game rectify the many other questions we have about Davoth and the doom slayers in their roles within the doomiverse and who the true Creator is
during the last three years I have played Doom, I have hoped that Doom slayer will win, but when I found out about Davoth's past, I wished he was the winner, not Doom slayer. It really sucks to be the creator of the multiverse and be betrayed by one's own creations
May Davoth win Earth and everything would be sucked into hell to fed his children's hunger for hell essence. Just as with the Khan Maykr, Doomguy fully understand the consequences of his actions against these beings, but just as such he is only defending his people.
I just view it as Davoth creating the Maykrs to find the answer to give his people eternal life, the Maykrs find a more ancient cosmic horror that has that answer and determine Davoth's ambitions would lead to its unleashing so they stop him. Over time this cosmic horror, as well as Davoth influences the Maykrs but the Doomslayer destroys both their plans. I like to think of all the Prime evils as beings created to prepare to fight this ancient cosmic horror. It almost gives me a Warhammer 40k vibe of the emperor creating his Primarch children and they get dispersed around the universe by chaos then finally come together to fight it. But I just follow Doom lore more loosely do idk.
Personally I find the sudden change in lore disappointing. They should've kept it the way it was as they explained in Ancient Gods Part 1. I feel that part 2 was rushed. I think they should've have focused more on the Wraiths, that they were the ones who planned to give the Slayer power through Samur Maykr, as a deal with the Father, as I feel bad for VEGA.
VEGA is still present as a the good guy, he was selfless enough to withdraw from the physical world along Davoth as he saw himself as a threat to creation.
While still very interesting and well developed. I just don't like the the idea of making Davoth THAT sympathetic. It makes the Devil himself look weak. HIm not having control over the forces of hell is a huge letdown for me personally.
They still fear him and even from the shadows, they are nothing more but puppets, dark lords come in Thinking there the big shot only to realize they are just pawns, even hell is an extension of him.

I want samur maykr to transform into something like the mother demon from doom 64. Doom 2016 and Eternal are parallel to Doom 1 and 2, so 64 would be next in line sort of. The mother demon was a survivor of the doomguy's previous adventure, and samur maykr escaped death in eternal. He was also control and conjuring demons durning the boss fight in dlc1. Also if we pretend what I'm saying is true, the differences between the Unmaykr in 64 and Eternal match the differences between samur maykr's original appearance and the mother demon. Samur maykr seems to be prophesied to be some unholy priest, twisted by the dark crucible, and the mother demon kind of looks like a twisted maykr, even has the extra arms that samur started to grow just before he teleports away. It would be awesome to do a doom3 style game playing as the internguy, and he has to survive and find a way to wake up the doomslayer when samur/mother demon returns...
You're right, it is tragic. They had so much potential for this character, this universes literal version of Lucifer, the lord of demons! but yet all they did was get evil Doomguy and put him inside a knock off Hulkbuster.
@@christopherbravo1813 In my opinion, this is not exactly how it work, Doom is universe where "Satan" created "God" (I know it's weird), The Makirs are the one who betrayed Davoth because of the need of the soula to gain immortality, which is something that they wanted to avoid, so Davoth is represented as someone who is evil but for a reason but still he is not so good as people think.

Davoth is Doomguy that had no choice but to defend a partially conquered Earth for as long as he could, knowing he is doing to be killed one day but kept on defeating every challenger - *for millions of years.*
Wait a minute, Immora is in Hell's dimension and adding to the fact that for millions to billions and even trillions they have defended themselves, so Nah they're gonna be ok.
So in a way. He was just waiting to die after all this time. He knew doomguy will be his, well, doom, after creating him. But was as equally too angry and vengeful to put himself down so he want doomguy to end him because he was powerful enough to stop his suffering if possible.
is still prefer that the father was the first being instead, and the father created the slayer so that he would stop the dark lord, because he knew that he wasnt powerful enough to do it. When the father abosrbed the dark lords life sphere he didnt destroy it because davoth was his first creation and he still loved him so he put the sphere ontop of ignmar sanctum but because of that act the dark lord would slowly over trillions of years become more and more powerful until the only one who could stop him was the Slayer himself.
Really hope that there was a powerful group of Jekkadians that somehow resisted the influence of Davoth, maybe by hiding from the Argent energy or by developing resistances against it (which would mesh well with the slayer's armor being modified to resist Argent energy). There was mention of a demon, "The Wretch", who gave the slayer his armor or enchanted it. This could shed more light on their civilization and culture. It'd be really cool to have some demonic looking entities that have preserved some of their humanity to help the slayer rather than just the animalistic demons the slayer fights throughout the games.
The wretch has a lot of connections to Valen, they had a talk about it and his armor the praetor, was made by Argenta. But who am I kidding? Argenta is just another example of davoth's influence after all, they even have his symbol even before Doomguy went there.

I'm sure Davoth does know since the father is still around, even though not psychically.. yet. I'm sure davoth wanted the Doom slayer to know the truth about hell and its people, and the maykrs lied about everything. So when the slayer does wake, he'll likely go after the maykrs, though who'll wake him up we'll have to wait.
not sure how into his lore I really am, its pretty inconsistent and if they want to make him a real character and not just an entity they need to pick a lane with trying to make him seem like a misunderstood hero vs being the leader of the darkest and most dangerous dimension in existence with the mission of corrupting all of creation. is he a dark lord with immense power and commanding endless legions of demons across all of hell with an iron fist? or is he a creator/guardian who kinda sucks at his job and keeps getting revolted against? the maykrs duped him. the father straight-up whooped him in his own realm. supposedly not all demons or all of hell follows him, which means some doubt him/he doesn't have the power to lead them all. and yet he's supposed to be the baddest/worst that we've seen even though we fight plenty of people that have already bested davoth by the time we meet him. you can't just build him up all this time and then after the fact say "well he's not actually the total leader of hell, has to fight his own minions that he regularly commands" or make it look like hell and immora are actually always on the backfoot even though every force capable of opposing hell hasn't for thousands of years until the doomslayer finally pulls up. hoping davoth actually ends up being small potatoes and there's something bigger out there because they've kinda made him look like a pretty dumb, chronically weak loser for now. all he's ever done is get his ass beat by so many people significantly weaker than him so surely he isn't our biggest baddest challenge
All of hell and everything in it is his, they even fear him as said by Hugo, dark lords come and go thinking there the big tough guy on the block only to become his bitch even when he is just a whisper, even the Khan Maykr became and if you look at the development of Davoth as time goes on, he was no longer the father from the time of peace, no longer will he trust anyone of he is just going to be betrayed. He gave all of his and made Vega and the maykrs to help his people, thinking it would actually help his people but it proved to be devastating. Now in a way, even with the demons and there lords, they are just pawns like Doomguy and also they had big plans for him like turning into a dragon and a full on no mech battle but they rushed it and here we have is a half baked cake.
I really wanted to see a balls to the wall fight no mech battle and also one of the problems as well is that TAG 1 as reported is too hard that Hugo has to set the bar low and with them rushing it and Hugo wanting this to be a celebration of the franchise. Like I said, it is just too many that they give like I just was bash my head in.
If we were to go by Star Wars film release chronology, we would probably get a prequel DLC or full on sequel. Because as of now, we were just shown that he's a bit of a knob and has a vaguely tragic past. But then sequels would really shed some light on who he was and how he fell, in great detail, like Anakin.
