@@koolteenjake34 so the dark Lord made all of creation, including the father, but then the father betrayed him, took his power and stole his name on ingmar sanctum where he extracted his life sphere from him. Basically the father lied about being the creator to everyone so he could be called God but not DAVOTH, who was the true creator. DAVOTH became angry, wanting to undo all of creation. That caused him to create hell to do his work while he was not in physical form.
@@SomeGuyWhoPlaysVideoGames Well Davoth Created The Father and the Maykrs. And it says in the codex that the maykrs knew the key to immortality, but refused to share it with Davoth because it was too dangerous. They probably sensed the anger and fury that lied within Davoth. So as Davoth killed many lesser gods and warred against the heavens, The Father just wanted to stop him. I'm sure The Father just wanted to keep peace and order and security because he saw that Davoth had a destructive and brutal nature and was too powerful and unfit to be in charge of everything as he sought destruction. So The Father and the heavens are in the right for doing that. Sure it made Davoth angry, but The Father just wanted what was safest for everyone as Davoth easily became evil. So taking on the name of the creator and overseer of the universe was what he saw was the best thing
The single scene of the Slayer taking the Key perfectly describes him. (tries to use brute force to take key) *Key has a force field around it* ( *More brute force!* )
It’s kinda sad to think doom slayer is gonna be locked up for a long long time again. I get that he isn’t needed anymore, but it still sucks. He deserves to go back on his space fortress and read comic books and play video games :(
He's not dead, at least I don't think he is. What they need to do is explore his lore with a game or movie or something, I just want to see him rip and tear. In a god of war style or Halo cutscenes style
They know his purpose, his reason, his capabilities; and even when they know he might come after them, they preserve him anyways. They know it's worth more having Doomslayer around than not, regardless of the risk.
And your reward is sleeping in peace in the safest place possible. Knowing that you saved the one creation that you love from Hell. I can see him laying there with a smile on his face and good dreams instead of nightmares in his head.
I like how during the Seraphim’s speech, the portal opens, and the Doom Slayer just walks past and through the portal, before the Seraphim is even done talking.
I think he's just smart. "The guy who kills every single demon he sees, who has cut through hell like a chainsaw through cheese countless times, has the Orb that can bring the biggest baddest demon ever into physical form? He's going to go kill the biggest baddest demon ever!"
For some reason I find the dark lord's first line to be the most menacing. "You feel you are prepared now, for this?" It's a threat and a question, and it's really cool
The Dark Lord is honestly one of the best final bosses when it comes to dignity, he played pretty fairly against the slayer and didn't really resort to cheap tricks, and in the end when Doomguy inevitably wins, Dark Lord just accepts his fate and accepts death.
Indeed. It's a shame his boss fight isn't the best and could have been so much more. In fact, I wish ID had saved him for a sequel rather than a DLC. It made little sense to put him. Alas, they did the best they could and I'm more or less fine with the end product.
@@therealspidermastermind sure, but you heal off of hitting him and anything else for that matter. That's the lore reason as to why your ammo health and armour keep replenishing, you gain energy/power from killing enemies which restores your resources, and since the dark lord is you, he does the same
So wait a second. The dark lord is actually the lord. He tried to make a perfect world and was betrayed. Sealed away he became evil to reclaim what was rightfully his?
someone else already explained it, but The Dark Lord or Davoth was the creator of all things. "The Father" is a God Davoth created, but the father betrayed him because he knew how corrupt and evil Davoth really was. the father felt that he had no right to rule all of creation, and so to protect everything; the father stripped Davoth of his power, betrayed him, and named himself The Father and creator of all things. He then put Davoth's soul into the orb. Davoth was understandably mad, and created Hell so it could fight against the father. When doom guy resurrects the Dark Lord his vengeance continues, but the god marine with rage issues killed him.
Basically reversal of Christian motive, where God makes Satan who betrays him... On the other hand, Satan betrays God, because God gave him an order which he knew Satan would disobey. Gets more interesting if you dig into pre-Christian mythology of the Middle East. Originally, Belzebub, which is another name of Satan, was a God of Canaanites- accidentaly a tribe Israelites were ordered by God to exterminate. His name was Baal. After the conquest and slaughtering of Canaanites, the victorious changed Baal's name to Belzebub, as an insult, and turned him into a devil.
So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again. Corrax Entry 7-17
DoomGuy bled once. Just once, and it was only a single drop. That drop fell onto a little flower, dying, but not quite dead. The flower took Doomguy's blood, and grew. It grew relentlessly, swiftly. It flourished into a mighty tree, bigger than any other tree. It was called Yggdrasil.
Doom: very violent series Doom Community: very friendly and generally happy bunch Litteraly any other community: very toxic with very few helpful people
Yeah, community is very friendly until someone says Doom 3 was a good installment in the series. Oh Lord, save that poor guy, because he will be immediately dragged and stomped in the shit.
Am I the only one that finds it kinda goofy that the dark lord uses a huge hulk buster armor? Like, I would find it much more fitting if he looked like the Marauder or something like that The armor looks sick tho
@@samfire3067 I don't think the Dark Lord is weak in any manner. Only the strongest could rule the demons and his only competition is Doom Slayer. Not weak in any sense.
It's a shame that nobody is talking about these surreal megastructures in the background. Coupled with this desolate wasteland, they really create the atmosphere of a surreal otherwordly dimension.
Not gonna lie, i thought that after the Slayer kills the Dark Lord, he’d for ever lock himself in hell to kill all remaining demons. Welp, at least now he can finally rest. In peace.
Doomguy has no qualms with demons unless they threaten earth. After he slayed the dark lord, the demons no longer posed a threat. Doomguy holds no grudges to soldiers, only leaders.
He could, but it looks like he passed out after killing Davoth. And was then locked in a sarcophagus, so i didnt think he had a chance to lock himself in hell.
Right? It's literally Space Marine guy vs. Fallen Space Marine guy. Dunno the analogue of Doomguys army, but at least the Dark Lord has his Chaos Daemons.
27:57 that clench of the fist says it all. (And not to mention all that tension as they just stare off saying nothing) After all this fighting Doomguys finally face to face with the being responsible for his Anger, The being whose responsible for the death of Daisy and his Alleged family. All of his pure anger and rage will now be unleash to avenge the ones he loves.
It's hilarious how after the slayer takes the key and the whole building literally explodes and crumbles down, the only way it affected the slayer was by knocking him onto the ground. Just the transition from the whole building being annihilated to him laying on the ground for a second makes me laugh, like as he just shrugs it off n seems completely unbothered by being caught in an explosion.
The weird thing is, it's implied Doom Slayer goes into a coma because Davoth is dead... but unlike the demons he doesn't die outright. Maybe it's because he spent so long in Hell, in effect partly becoming a denizen of it?
From what I know, his duty is _kind of_ done because he killed Davoth. Remember the Corrax entries? 7:17 at the end goes like "And may we never need you again." Since Davoth is dead, we (as in the DOOM universe) doesn't need the Slayer anymore. He has fulfilled his purpose, and all remaining demons outside of Hell are dead. Assuming you can get to the other parts of Hell through Immora, the Night Sentinels can sniff out any remaining demons. Hell _shouldn't be_ planning any other invasions any time soon since their leader is dead.
He killed the creator which in consequence unmade all creation, so he couldn't kill the creator because none of them exists. In consequence, there is either nothing, or Doom Slayer lies in his tomb for eternity, untill he wakes up and destroys the world by killing the creator.
It’s because a fragment of Davoth’s power was used to make the Slayer superhuman. When Davoth died presumably that fragment did too, but since the Slayer is still mostly human (confirmed by Dr. Elena Richardson) he didn’t die.
I think it’s more because Doomguy’s power is derived from Davoth, so he fell asleep instead of dying. He’s still human, but part of the enhancements he has came from Davoth’s power, so it still affects him, just not unmake him.
Giant wyvern appears. Doom Guy approaches. “Guess your the first to go” It kneels. Doom Guy “Damn Straight”. Anything thing going his way gets the *damn straight or thought so* reaction.
Just a small theory I had, what if this is a type of limbo the Slayer is stuck in. As in Doom 2016 he awakens in a similar if not identical looking coffin as the one seen in the end of Ancient Gods Pt.2. King Novik at the end of the campaign in eternal ends the monologue with “for your fight is eternal” possibly implying the slayer has done this same song and dance many times before.
Not really, in doom 2016 the hell priests put doom slayer there, here they put him next to the fallen gods (not by the hell priests, but by these maykr lads)
It might be an eternal cycle where he keeps being discovered, woken up, slaying a bunch of demons and the big baddie and being put back to rest. Now that god/Davoth is dead Vega/The Primeval of the Maykrs has free reign and while he cant get a physical body, he might still wage war to conquer the universe now that demons can no longer leave hell. Maybe the next game will have us slay what is the equivalent to angels in this game which are the Maykrs and kill Vega and the Sentinels are trying to protect whats left of humanity, themselves and the people of Immora. Or maybe they could go with cosmic horror where Davoth/god isn't the only godlike being and turns out there are others and now theyre invading the doom universe but thats my 2 cents.
They told him; ''All creation is jeopardized', and about the Dark Lord; 'He is the creator of all things, even you'. By killing the Dark Lord, Doom Slayer undone himself. He has never killed the Dark Lord, because neither him or the Slayer exist if he does so. So the world exists only granted that Doom Slayer was never freed from his tomb. When he wakes up, all creation is destroyed.
I’m surprised people don’t know the reason why he was sealed away(maybe they do idk). If doom guy were to stay in hell, he would completely obliterate it and all remnants of Argent energy which many civilizations rely on ie Earth, Argent D’ Nur, Urdak, etc. Doom guy is essentially a volatile insurance policy when shit gets really bad. Tbh I don’t know if this is the official reason, but it makes the most sense
Imagine being an evil being with godlike powers. Having control over an army of demons. And you end up losing to an angry super buff immortal human with nothing but guns and a blade.
*What if...?* The Intern is actually a secret governmental project of they wanted to clone/create Doom Slayer for themselves, but they only have things in parts and pieces. The Intern is one of few successful experiment that have "THE BALLS OF DOOMGUY" in his system, and they give him the position of being an Intern inside Doom Slayer's HQ to seeing up close Doom Slayer in action and learn "the way the Doom do", just so that they could have more potential materials for perfecting their own Doom Slayer.
I originally thought that once you break his mech he'd fight you on foot like a PvP deathmatch, with the arena changing to a more classic style map (verticality and such). Nope. Just stays a flat circle.
@@justinnyugen7015 I mean, Doom Slayers’ life force seemed to be tethered to the Dark Lord’s. They could’ve made it so you’re constantly on edge. Have him spawn a device for example that drains your health and heals him until it’s destroyed forcing you to shift your attention to two places at once. That would keep me constantly on edge. But the fight just didn’t seem all that creative, like it was forced or rushed and whatnot. But it was laughably easy.
One thing that always bothered me is 41:31 when his helmet hits the ground. It sounds like it's made out of plastic. It would've been way more impactful and another cool way to display the slayer's power if it hit the ground with a massively heavy thud, as if it weighed several hundred pounds.
So if the dark lord is doom guy but in hell, but technically he’s the creator....does that mean that doom guy is quite literally made in the creators image? Which would also explain why he was so powerful. Side note: it would also explain why he didn’t try to do the classic “you and I are the same” and “join me” thing. He knows himself, and he would never. So in turn doom guy would never. That and doom guy’s history of saying fuck you to authority.
The Dark Lord isn't Doomguy. He looks like him because he hasn't ever had a physical form , so when he was forced to take a physical form, he chose the slayer because he was the most powerful being he knows of and created
Dark Lord: "Tell me... have you nothing to say to your creator... before you strike him down?" DoomGuy: "I love you.... Dad" Dark Lord: "I love you too Son!"
@@Rhino-Prime that'd be incredible if the next slayer is the intern trying to free the slayer, despite him having no purpose at current it's still a interesting thought I had floating around 😆
I need to know why something as simple as a camera zooming in on the shotgun and the slayer just racking it back quietly somehow makes the most badass intro for any game in just one simple move
What’s more badass is that the Facility Voice KNOWS it’s the DoomSlayer who’s responsible for everything. Can you imagine? DoomSlayer: ...**cough**... Facility Voice: “WARNING! THE SLAYER HAS JUST COUGHED! COMMENCING NUCLEAR EXPLOSION IN 3...2...1...” 😂
They aren't, they might be similar to Wraiths because they both come from Argent D'nur but thats basically just a wild animal tamed by the sentinels, heck you can even see them in Immora but more red and demon like.
@@freshlymemed5680 Could be. I just thought they looked pretty similar, and with how distorted and hellified the Wraiths were from just being in hell, it could’ve been a less demonic form. But yeah, that makes sense too.
@@breaddeluxe7435 wraiths were argent dnur's gods and the sentinels were created to protect them and satiate their hunger in return for the sentinel energy (the blue energy prior to the discovery of the red argent energy)
@@ninim1028 That is entirely incorrect, though. The guy with the hammer (Valen) was the captain of the Sentinel armies not a Slayer. There is only one Slayer and he was specifically created by Davoth. They did kind of retcon a lot of stuff.
I love the Avengers portal scene. I don't even care if it is basically a ripoff from Endgame, because it's so much better. The Sentinel Mech reminded me of Pacific Rim too.
Whole story is just non existent. Most of the logic why and for what is not even there. And there's a scene from avengers, the most stupid film for same stupid auditory. Pretty much understandable
@@mirroreclipse3049 ok let me rephrase “Because it’s cooler looking and has a badass music piece for it” And two more things: 1. They do help you at one point, they launch you into the large wall thing 2. You’re the fucking Doom Slayer, you don’t need help fighting
Damn, I thought Doom Slayer was gonna retreat to his space fortress and chill playing video games, playing guitar, and collecting figures. I find it hilarious that he was doing that between Doom 2016 and Eternal.
I get it, I do; Doomguy deserves to rest. But don’t you think that a, I dunno, *eternal magical coma* is a little overkill? Like that’s not rest, that’s being trapped inside of your own body, and you’re not the one who can control how it’s used or what happens to it. Makes me so confused how an anti-authority, god-defying super-soldier blessed with the divinity to take down Hell’s armies was essentially turned into a special toy for the gods to play with like a pawn when deemed necessary. His entire fight was for *humanity*, not the for gods; yet, even when his fight is over, his humanity is still stripped from him.
I would say it is an elegant solution. He has killed the creator. By destroying the creator he has undone all creation. That's why he's in the tomb. He can never be freed from his tomb, or the world will cease to exist.
I never really thought about this but it’s really funny to think that the writers probably had such a hard time trying to come up with a badass villain that can stand up to doom guy, and one of them probably just said “what if it was like a dark link thing and it’s an evil version of himself” and they just went with it.
This ending sucks. It left more questions than answers for me. Here they are. 1) Is the Slayer really gone? Cause it looks like he drops to his knees and apparently pass out. You don't actually see him being put in the box. The only thing you can see is the lid close. Also if he has passed away, why would you need a seal. 2) What did the Dark Lord mean when he said that he created the Slayer? Cause the Seraphim said to the Slayer the he had the Forsight to create him. 3) If the Slayer was created by The Dark Lord then why was he always trying to kill the Slayer? 4) Why did the Dark Lord make the Divinity Machine? Did the power that the Slayer received come straight from Dark Lord himself? 5) Who are the Wraiths and were did they come from? Where they also created by the Dark Lord also? 6) Did he not know that the Slayer would one day kill him? Why did make him human instead of being immortal? 7) Who is the Dark Priest? Could it be the Seraphim? He knew that the Demonic Crucible was a sword. He activated it in 2016. It's supposed to corrupt people who handle it. 8) Who's going to be the next Dark Lord of Hell? HELL is still there. Only the demons outside of Hell were killed. 9) If the Slayer did pass away. Would it have been from his power being taken away from him when the Dark Lord died or on his own terms? 11) If he is still alive and was released, could he still be able to use Argent energy? Or would he have to use something else?
@@binghalim1852 . Yeah. Knowing that you saved the whole human race from Hell. Would leave you with a smile on your face. Good dreams will replace the nightmares. Also besides the seal on the lid, they were chose to put it in the Ingmore Sanctum. Which tells me that they want to protect him the best way they can. You don't do all that if they have passed away.
