It is the original. They just played the original audio over the video of the piano. There aren't any drum sounds on the piano, but there are in the audio.
Doom uses .Mus files for music (midi-based) and this is playing from an extracted midi from the game. Doom's soundtrack was made specifically for the Roland sound canvas (sc-55), which is what Windows' midi synth takes its samples from (albeit compressed) so it more or less sounds as intended.
I must admit this is one where I took a pre-existing MIDI file and slapped together a video and thumbnail. It’s a rockin’ tune, though, of course, and I’m glad you liked it :)
This is good work, but it sounds WAY too close to the original for me to consider it actually being played or buttons being clacked while music plays in the backround
Glad you enjoyed the video - I'll be the first to admit that this is one where I just captured the playback from a MIDI file I found elsewhere online. More of a visualization than a tutorial or anything along those lines 🙂
I have to be honest, this is one where I found the MIDI file elsewhere on the internet (not my own transcription), so for all we know it could have possibly even been the file the dev team used... Thanks for watching and commenting!
