The new doom games may look scarier. But i find the original to have that more tense uncanny feel. Due to the graphics. Early 3d games often leave me more on edge like it has this sense of being unexplored
@@nedrik9238 but its a lot more creepy and eerie in the old doom games. like the comment says, even as fast paced as they are, it can get very eerie and lonely easily. For example, when you can't find an exit and you just keep walking through the quiet halls and rooms.
In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the fires of hell, he wandered the umberal plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him, And those who tasted the bite of his sword named him... THE DOOM SLAYER!!!
Once you reach a new decade you’re supposed to win aren’t you? Aren’t you? Where’s the fat reward? What the hell is this? It’s not supposed to go this way! It smells like emptiness, but it looks like a deserted place. Looks like everyone’s in lockdown. There doesn’t seem to be a way out...
You find this song relaxing? It was literally meant for you to think about life, why you're still there, fighting demons. For you to wonder if you should give up or keep fighting
As it should be. Pretty much plays to signify that the UAC is lost, you're alone, the Demons are many, and you're the only one who can stop them...granted you live long enough.
This map was originally planned to be where you meet up with a character named "Buddy Dacote" (friend who Dies At Conclusion Of The Episode), who was guiding you over comlink up to that point, and he immediately gets torn in half by those Barons of Hell. This would have been where Doomguy is finally the last human left on Mars.
This track isn't for the faint of heart, instead of just being background music, it feels as if it's trying to tell you something. This song perfectly describes what goes inside Doomguy's head when he realizes he is forced to go through hell, to get home. Despair and Determination are the words.
@@MeltyZombiehat isn't as sad really. It feels more like happy innocence to revenge is going to rain upon hell for what they did to daisy. This theme just always feels sad But i mean anyone is subject to their own opinion
This is how it feels to play doom for hours. At first you're like hell yeah gonna destroy and obliterate demons, and after few hours... "Cheesus Christ, how more many of them i have to kill? I just want this to stop. Please."
This song has a feeling of impending nightmare. You're the last survivor and all alone up against whatever waits beyond that elevator. This will be your last stand against hilariously bad odds. So you enter the arena and meet ... doomguy
I played this on loop while walking in the city. It's wonderfully strange, try it sometime. You can feel the isolation and become aware of signs of evil around.
In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. _Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension,_ he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him… the Doom Slayer.
What makes this track so cool is that it stands in such stark contrast to everything else...level after level of fast-paced adrenaline fueled metal and then they slow it waaay down with something that's actually somber. Makes you realize that you're going to hell and probably never coming back.
We need a doom Mod where you play with other NPC players on a moon base and eventually get to hell but the catch is every level you lose one of these comrades until you reach the final level, in hell, all alone by yourself armed with just a pistol Then this track plays, that's when you truly know, you are all alone...
Well, if you play with the Brutal Doom mod, there are NPC Marines in certain levels that you can find tied to stakes. Rescuing them gives them a weapon (varies by uniform color) and the follow you around, kitchen ace and taking names. On lower difficulties you can wind up with maybe two or three of them backing you up. They even follow you from level to level and contribute to your kill tally.
This song is perfect. It’s gives off a forlorn, isolated feeling whilst also reflecting what’s going through doomguys head. He’s alone. Everything he had has now gone. The trauma he must be facing while fighting hell. All this mental disturbance all to be rewarded with an Annihilated World if he can survive and fight off hell. Pure perfection
Wait, there is a boss with Three barons? is it early in the game? I only can play this game on my friends xbox, we got the Central Processing, or vega cooling, whatever the mission is called.
And here you are. Cold, injured and alone. Demons everywhere, looking for you, smelling your fear, your darkest side and thoughts. What are you gonna do now?. This have to end, one way or another. Don't worry, take a breath and make it count
Honestly this song doesn’t sound that sad or despairing to me, it actually gives me western vibes, like a sort of scifi western where the hero is traveling alone through a desolate land in search of his target. The song sounds lonely.
I thinks that the reason to that this music plays in the first level (Hell Beneath) of the episode 4 of Doom "Thy Flesh Consumed", is to show us the grief and pain of Doomguy for the death of his beloved rabbit Daisy, that was killed by the demons in the end of the previous episode.
You fought your way through hell on earth so far, but the hell portal on earth hasn't been located until now. the location of it was your hometown. A place of nostalgia. a place you knew well, is now overrun by demons, and warped into a hellish version of itself. You thought to yourself "this is it." As you load your weapons and set off to find whatever force brought them here. Hoping to end this living nightmare once and for all...
Ice blue silver slide Gold through my eyes Though my eyes see steel grey to be Starless and bible black Old friend guiding light Cruel twisted smile Seen through eyes dark, your lies mark all time Starless and bible black Cards fall, faces change Cat's cunning shows In the end you may win, but you lose Starless and bible black
When I saw this, I thought it was someone pointing out that the ambience track in Sentinel Prime was a remake of this. And then I looked at when the comment was posted... *suspense intensifies*
This give me a one image in my head Doom guy is having a Anime stand-off with the cyber demon in the Hell zone with them looking like they were animated by studio trigger
Weight Salvation doth weigh 'Pon Thy shoulders, flayed Endure This feast of decay Grive For the light of day Sign of evil in this godforsaken hole Severed emotion from thy asphyxiated soul
Sitting outside, drinking, smoking, and watching a fire while listening to this gives the song a very interesting emotion. I can’t really describe it, it’s isolation, sorrow, and calmness blended into one
The remake of this map in Doom 2016 is insane! The new Barons are tough fuckers to kill, along with the Pinkies rushing you like wild boars. I'm sure glad I got that sick chaingun to mow everything down! =D
I'm here. I'm at the sign of evil. Mental health failing, unable to even find energy to sometimes get up, I have a huge responsibility that takes effort that I have been putting off for 6 months. Time is ticking by and I'm about to enter crippling debt if I don't do it. Parents are depending on me. I have just lost fear, I've just settled down, unafraid of my fate. I'm not sure what lies ahead but this theme captures it. I am failing myself. I would end everything if I don't make it. But I just don't know. This song has been so ominous ever since I played Doom back when I was 5 years old. I want to break free from this hell. Yet I just want to drown and settle. If I make it through, I'll update here. If I don't, I wish you all luck. To every doomguy out there on the planet, good luck.
I don't know what you're going through but please remember to never give up, there's always a reason to keep going If you need to talk to someone I recommend speaking to close a friend or family member, maybe they can help you in some way Don't give up my guy!
This theme is easily the best tone setter for this game. I am unfortunately not an expert in music but if I was I would probably be able to explain every great thing in this song.
I was so excited over the Barron’s when I first heard this that I didn’t notice it,But later when I hit E3M4,All I could think was “will this ever end?”,E3M4 was a really terrifying and solitary level because of this
Fun fact: Robert "Bobby" Prince composed a lot of midis. Some of them got unused or modified. One of these it's a song called un41 which is a cover of "Dirt" by Alice In Chains. Despite being technically unused in the final game, its drum track was reused for this song.
"Once you beat the big badasses and clean out the moon base you're suppose to win, Aren't you? AREN'T YOU?! Where's your fat reward and ticket home? What the hell is this?! It's not suppose to end this way! It stinks like rotten meat, but looks like the lost deimos base. Looks like you're stuck on the shores of hell. and the only way out is through..."
When you hear those slow and spaced out drums, you know it's time to take your time and not rush through your blood filled frenzy as you had in previous levels.
