Such a chilling and haunting track for MAP30!
Taking on such atmospheric tracks like this always proves to be a bit tricky (but fun!). Very much all about getting textures you're happy with.
Case in point, I had to go hunting for a specific electric piano sound. I needed something with just the right vibe.
I also needed to figure out what to do about the music-box sound from the original. I didn't want to just use the music-box from the gzdoom or SC-55 soundfonts, but at the same time, my alternatives were all way too bright, or didn't mesh right with the rest of the tracks. After trying out a bunch of different sounds, I wound up settling on using some celestas. Rolled off some high-end on them, and even sent the track to an aux-channel that used heavy-distortion and other little effects. Its suuuuper subtle, but its layered very, very quietly underneath the main celestas.
Also happy to bust out my "SineSpookyDeep" synth patch for the first time in such a long while. Used it for the deep drone-notes here. I also layered a string bit with it to add some grit and further impact to it.
Another thing that's challenging with tracks like this is trying to figure out how much to add without taking away from the vibe and atmosphere. I think the added choirs and those glissando strings worked out fairly nicely! Very suspenseful and full of tension.
For fun, I went and sampled the crying baby sound from the PSXDoom soundfont. Ran it through some effects, pitch-shifted some duplicates and stuff for added spooky ambience during the middle section of the song.
Another little thing I added was a synth playing the same stuff as the electric pianos. Had a nice "airy" sort of quality to it that felt nice for the atmosphere.

This sound track is.. Alive. Complete with it's own personality, not afraid to give you the creeps. This Dar is the OST's bigger brother. Last night when I was taking a shower before I went to bed, I couldn't stop checking my surroundings expecting to see an unholy entity looming over the curtens. This morning I can't stop looking over into this hallway like in FNAF, I swear THE DARKNESS IS GROWING. I now have a new fear of the dark, and being alone. The OST has cursed me with paranoia. Good God (And he is.) This sound track is much more uncanny than Plucked and Hammered could ever be, and that's saying a lot.

As usual, your range always impresses. This actually reminds me of the older Living Dead films by Romero. In particular if you were to cross the droning sound you hear a lot during the original Night of the Living Dead from '68 with the track that plays in Day of the Dead '85 when Rhodes is going out it would sound kinda similar to this.

With this one done, we're actually on the last 5 now: Victory/TextScreen, MAP21, MAP32, MAP31, and then finally the Intermission theme to wrap everything up!

Plan to do Plutonia 2 as well? That has some of my favorites; although you have made Plutonia 1's ost part of my favorites now as well.

Its certainly up for consideration, someone else had also recently mentioned the Plutonia 2 OST as well! I'll be sure to include it in the poll when I ask everyone which WAD should get the marathon treatment next =).
