CynicallyAwesome I wish I had your tutorial yesterday. I had to learn the game quick and under pressure. Luckily it's a pretty straight forward game with another great rule book by fantasy flight.

yea, I feel like this game is the result of what FFG has learned from their previous games like Imperial Assault and Descent. I like the simplicity

You only take the squad card that matches the number of marines in the game, the rest are unused and returned to the box (if playing with 4 marines, no squad card is used) Squad cards are different from class cards, which each marine will always get at the beginning of each scenario

if you look on the back of the "learn to play" or "rules reference" book, you'll find the quick reference page- on the section marked "marine activation", it says "after resolving actions, he draws action cards up to his hand size", so this is different than when the demon player draws event cards as a part of the status phase earlier in the round. on that same page you'll find how "while defending" works in the "attack overview" section- while defending effects happen AFTER dice are rolled and AFTER the defender reveals a card for defense- THEN you may choose to use a "while defending" effect. These rules go into more detail in the rules reference book, but I hope the quick reference page clears that up for you.

Guy Decorear in page 3 of the operation guide- Mission setup: step 4. Choose class cards- shuffle and deal 2 to each marine so on and so forth Hope that helps!

Each marine draws up to 3 cards for his hand after resolving his actions during his activation.

everything you see in the video is included in the box- there are no other add ons or expansion packs currently available for the doom board game

If a demon has damage on them equal to or exceeding their stagger value, they can be glory killed by any marine that moves on top of them For example, marines 1 and 2 can damage a demon separately on their turns to do enough damage to put a demon in a stagger state- then marine 3 only needs to jump on top of the demon to glory kill it and draw a glory kill card. Just like in the video game- you do some damage, then run up to the demon and glory kill them, or continue shooting them, but you don't get the glory kill rewards

Yeah instruction manuals and tutorial rehashing what I can learn from the manual dont really do it for me. Ive learned how to play board games just by playing with those who already know what to do and paying attention (making sure I never go first) and by the time my turn gets around Ive figured out what Im supposed to do just from watching everyone else take their turns. I still wouldnt be qualified to teach anyone how to play the games but at least Id know what to do and not to do as well as figure out and develop strategies after a few turns of hands on experience. Its how I learned to play Ticket to Ride, Pandemic and Betrayal at House on the Hill. Now Ive kinda gotten addicted to complex (i.e anything that takes more brain power than lets say Monopoly) board games, and started my own collection. Now I own Doom, Rise of the Kage, Millennium Blades, Samurai, Samurai Sword, Bloodborne and Mansions of Madness Second Edition and have zero clue how to play em (with the Exception of Samurai as thats a very easy to understand game, and Ive gotten Bloodborne at least 90% down, as for the other 5... nope lol)

not necessarily, its demons vs marines where one play is all the demons and the others control a single marine in scenario based missions. It's not trying to mimic the video game, but it takes mechanics from the video game and makes it fit in a tabletop format (like glory kills)

+CynicallyAwesome i didn't mean as in the video game but the older board game I owned. it has three modes including team deathmatch, campaign and one other if you get the addon

sorry, I didn't explain that well- this is very different from the old board game in almost every way. it has 6 different game modes (better known as 6 different objectives), but the objective you get is based on the map you pick (and there are only 6 unique maps, but two different setups for each one). There might be a mode that's similar to the TDM you remember (i think its called eliminate hostiles in this game), but you would be limited as to which maps you could play it on (unless you wanted to make up your own maps), and it wouldn't play exactly the same either because the demon player is limited on how they can summon more demons onto the board. that being said, while it is very different- I enjoy it because its very condensed in the play area required, its rules, and it doesn't require a lot of time to play although if you're looking for an exact copy of the game you remember, this probably isn't it, but you should check it out some more and see if you like it

+CynicallyAwesome yes I figured so, because the figures were not colored sadly, but besides from the sadness in that, I'll definitely buy this game, as of I own most doom memorabilia and products (I still play doom on my old computer)

Ninjutsu Scorpion yes they do- they have all the weapons and show weapons available in the base game of the new DOOM game

So ( SOLO OPERATIVE and other missions). As an invader I have 2 invader cards ( pinky + possesed soldiers, both have 2 figures for one card ) due to the FORCE OF ARMS invader strategy card. So, 2 possessed soldiers are spawned on blue, and 2 pinkys on yellow, first initiative card was ALPHA, so as ALPHA i killed both possessed soldiers ( i put p.s card facedown and i lost that demon type ). Next i drawn invader card ( 2 cards left in initiative deck invader and marine ), i played pinky and i attacked with both normally. Third card was invader again, my pinky card from previous invader card was flipped horizontally meaning i couldn't use it again. 1. Then what should i do if i'm on turn and i don't have demon cards to play? Pinky was horizontally and p.s were facedown ( dead ). 2. Does the invader draw an action card (6 in hand) after he uses one of the action cards from hand b4 attacking. 3. After discarding the whole deck for the invader, do I reshuffle discard pile and use it as defense again? Same question for marine deck + if a marine has 2 cards in hand and he has to draw 2 more ( solo-operative ) but there are no more cards in his deck, so should i reshuffle his deck? ALL OF THIS IN ACTIVATION PHASE ! 4. Can marine defend himself from cards in hand? 5. If marine somehow kill all my demons ( not talking about solo-op ) in first 2 room, do we immediately go to status phase or i should wait for them to open door so i can summon demons, or i should just wait for initiative deck to fall of ? If i wait for them to open door, they can just run around and farm best cards for attack, is there some rule that blocks them from doing that so they must push doors? 6. Regarding to 5th question, happened 3 times today for me in solo op. marine killed all my demons in first 2 room ( solo op. mission 1 sample collection), what can i do as invader then, i have no demons and its my turn because drawn initiative card was invader ( no demons to play )

and i can play armor ( while defending ) from hands to defend my self with 2 shields and i can draw 1 more card rom deck to deffend? or armor counts as main def.. so i cant draw one more from deck?

@@pierr8306 ok 1) You will simply skip your turn because possesed soldiers are all killed and pinky card exausted. 2) Invader draws UP TO 6 cards during 3rd step of sratus phase only then he draws cards (unles some other card grant him ability to do so outside the status phase) Look at the back of rulebook to see steps of status phase.3) Yes EVERYTIME you need to draw a card and deck is empty you shuffle discard piles and draw from that new deck this is true for marines and invader player...4)No, only from top of the his deck and invader from his deck however there are some cards like armor or like some invader cards that grant additional defence along with card drawn from top of the deck for defence.Those cards have wording while defending.Look at the back of rulebook to see attack steps and when can you apply those while defending cards.5) Yes, you continue normaly until marines open the door,that can happen in infestation threat card which is usualy the hardest for invader to win.6) already answered in 5.. Here is how armour card works.If you have that card in hand you dont use that card for defence you always draw from top of your deck , and then when is whille defending step in combat (again look at the back of rulebook) than you play armour card and add 2 shields to those shield you get from card you drawn from top of the deck.Lastly you drawn another card from top of deck as instructed in armour card but that new card DOES NOT count as defence its simply a card drawn to replace just used armour card.Hope this Helps!
