I think doomer playlists are usually another version of the "empty mall" playlists which usually feature melancholy indie rock and post punk

As someone who listens to a lot of doomer playlists, watched a lot of doomer videos, and etc. I haven’t really ever seen topics like: climate change, advancements in technology, lack advancements in of resources. The issues and destructive factors the doomer crowd takes qualms with is personal obstacles like loss of love, metal illnesses, substance addiction, and similar hardships. My interpretation, and it is just that -my interpretation as art is subject, is that the doomer feels left behind in a world of radically changing demographics and a society that seems content in the abandonment or destruction of their culture and civilization. Someone who has taken all the red pills and has yet to conquer their greatest side effect: the black pill.

From my understanding the Doomer isn't really concerned that the humanity is supposedly coming to an end. It's not about climate change, automation or lack of resources. It's a mindset that isn't easily changed, that you are not valuable in the modern world, you are not needed, and it feels like you're forced to be here in the eternal doom, hence; Doomer (Politics play a big part too). The music mostly is about the disconnection from the societal norm, songs like Interpol's NYC describe quite accurately what's it like to be a Doomer. Sleep doesn't make it better since it's basically an "I give up, let's reset the progress" sort of button, since Doomers don't really care about anything they ted to sideline most of their problems/tasks/priorities so they won't be forced to deal with that 'crap' today which hurts them in the long run since they're becoming overloaded with many things to do, accomplishments that mean close to nothing for a Doomer. Music is essential since it's a picture of hopelessness portrayed by the artist, that picture is very pertinent since the Doomer experience these emotions as well, its applicable to his life therefore it feels like you're not really alone in your (fake mid 40's) mid 20's crisis. Molchat Doma is the bomb. I'm not even a doomer really, I just love their sound. Russian post punk has this lovely melancholic sound that I just can't help but adore.

Been there, done that. For me black metal was the most soothing at the time. The doomer type should consider taking a big leap/calculated risk in the direction that will set them up for whatever they find themselves thinking of doing that will make them happy. For me, I always pictured myself living in a very forested area of the country where I could just run off into the wilderness on a whim if I chose. Also had a dream of buying some raw forest land to slowly develop and eventually have a house on. Cuz fuck paying rent, ALL that money could be going into something for ME. Not a job or status, I just wanted a certain lifestyle and to OWN where I sleep. So basically step 1 was going to a place(geographically) where i could then figure out the next step. I saved up money, bought some camping gear, and quit my bullshit gas station job. Loaded up my jeep with just the essentials and drove up to the Pacific Northwest. No job lined up, no connections, nothing. Totally solo, trusting (and hoping) that the next step would unveil itself from the "fog of war" once I arrived. Thing fell into place excellently. Got a job my first day in town. Had a place to live a week and a half later. That time spent "homeless" was one big exciting and refreshing vacation. I had a huge confidence boost and sense of accomplishment from making this plan of calculated risk, preparing for it, and executing. Having slayed left me motivated and felling like a b0$$. Now that I was where I needed to be to realize my dream and was glowing with motivation, I needed a better job to finance it. Turns out truck driving was the ticket. You can live ANYWHERE and there's a demand for cdl holders, and it pays middle class wages. Hired to an otr(over the road) company, got to visit yet another state, and got paid to see the entire country + my cdl (just had to stay with them for a year). Suddenly I made 3-4x what pumping gas paid. If your "stuck" and looking for a way out of your current situation I HIGHLY recommend this route. The mobility the job provides and being an instant ticket to the middle class will change your life QUICKLY. Just gotta have the balls to take that leap. While on the road I found the raw forest land I live on now. 2.5 acres out in forest and far enough from town to see the milky way. $10k, $279mo payments. As of now I owe about $2k and it's mine, fully paid off and no debt. Once my year of otr was up (making my cdl training free) I got a local job, which paid more 😄 and moved onto my land in an rv. Here I've been since and all my money goes to MY shit. I've got my long term life project to focus on and accomplish and derive happiness from. Then when it's all done, I'll have my own lil self built sanctuary to sit back and "watch the world burn" from 😎🚬 Come up with your own personal hero's journey and take a calculated risk. I'm certain it's what most of us need (perhaps to be our own hero). Worked for me.

Molchat Doma is real great, they had a concert here few months ago. I bet they're Belarussian, though.

Russian doomer music is really something else for Russian people. Not people who can speak Russian, but people who grew up there, and lived there. The Russian doomer music brings back many small memories and experiences that others just don’t understand. The depressing buildings have a different effect on Russian people. Those houses look awful to you, and that’s because they are, but for us they are homes. It’s difficult to put into words, because it’s not even the lyrics that create this effect. It’s this pleasant sadness and nostalgia, that is known to any Russian. The reason why there are many doomers in Russia is quite simple. People in Russia realize that they have no future. All they can do is try to survive in these harsh conditions. Another thing that I would like to mention is that by Russia I also mean countries like Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and many other countries that were a part of the Soviet Union. These countries are ruled by different governments, but are essentially the same. Good luck to all the doomers out there, get some sleep tonight.

On the more heavier side I recommend a band called dystopia, the bands song lyrics are perfect.

I'm quite surprised as I thought that those "doomers music playlists" were just full of Doom Metal or something like that 😅 Not only I discovered that I was wrong but also that Doomers favorites bands are bands I love !

I usually avoid anything involving these sorts of meme-type thumbnails because there is an inherent association of traits that I am guilty of attaching to them, but since it's your channel I decided to give it a watch. Thanks for the explanation.

The mention of russian doomeers warms my heart. Obviously, we, russians, make a huge procent of global doomers movement for obvious reasons. The least obvious reasons are pretty interesting. Being a 'doomer' in russia is a historical phenomenon - just look at our literature, history, culture - 'russkaya toska' is everywhere. Great vid by the way, thank you so much.

I'm 29 and I really relate to the doomer. Also, poor Robert Smith, feel this age quite the same way... but I'm not going to use substances to evade the feelings. Great video, very well written.

You kids are picking some good music! I'm 43, but I feel ya. Hang in there guys, I'm divorced and broke and I get it, but life does have some beautiful moments to offer!

I feel like personally listening to the music i listen too doomer wave and songs iv added to my list, keeps growing and at times it seems like its the only way to express how i feel i view myself as a Nihilistic Doomer because everything is pointless to me i try to get better and pills dont work, in the past iv had jobs and i realized i would get paid go work sleep and repeat and whats the point i was just a robot, a puppet, doing what i was told and barely scraping by, now i still deal with depression but im free to do whatever i want but im still trapped within the confines of society who doesn't see that day in day out you do the same stuff over and over and get know where, or that something in the news upsets everyone and then you forget within a week and move on to the next thing to be angry about, the world is a burning trash pile and everyone ignores it and by a point of repeating myself over and over i stop saying anything until someone else brings it up and i just simply say told you. Its not necessarily bout booze or drugs to get free but sometimes it helps.
