Christian H. Lie here. I’m a rock music nerd and guitar teacher from Oslo, Norway. In my videos i take a closer look at the guitar playing and history of various rock and metal bands.
As per usual.....the story tells of a MAN infatuated and attracted to a GIRL...A GIRL? Is this MAN a paedophile? He's attracted to a GIRL. Oh! Perhaps the narrator meant to say WOMAN.....A man attracted to WOMAN.. For crying out loud......we MUST STOP referring to women as girls. 😮
Goldsmith NOT fired, asked to tour, but left. Butch Wig and Dave Role. Wasting Light is my favorite no skip album. Oh my, OUTSIDE is the BEST song on Sonic Highways. I think you might have been asleep. But if everyone likes what they like. Sonic Highways is a companion piece to the album. Hope you've mellowed out since making this.
Schizophrenia on marijuana and acid is a mix of catastrophic effects, no matter the talent or intelligence, the guy will simply get screwed. I am grateful for the legacy he left!
Yes, it was based off an amusement park ride that they called Helter skelter but when you listen to that album and the crazy things that were on it, there’s more to this than it just being a random song like that
If friends tell me that they hate themselves, I'd tell them that I love them. Radiohead are friends, who have serious depression but still care about your mental health. So I still love them, as well as Creep.
Note: Waters also referenced Syd with the line "Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?". Cold steel rail comes from the 1970 Syd song 'If It's In You' lyric "Please hold on to the steel rail" from The Madcap Laughs.
"The Well and the Lighthouse" is my favourite AF song. That time signature change towards the end is just lovely. They were a very "human" band, making excellent records in an anti-human time. They were appreciated. SPOILERS for the book and film "In The Name of the Rose" below. I wonder if the lines about licking your fingers while reading a poisonous book might have been a reference to "The Name of the Rose". The monks being poisoned because the "forbidden book" (Aristotle "Poetics") had been poisoned on the corners of the pages, and they did indeed lick their fingers as they turned the page. Could also be a nod to Nietzsche, who often referred to Christianity as a "fine poison" and recommend wearing gloves when reading the New Testament. Big fan of your channel.. Cheers
Here is all you need to know. Maynard is mad at God because of his Mom's health issues she suffered. He has no sense of Gratitude whatsoever, and no real friends
The recipe for being labeled a genius by west coast hipsters pushing 50 is a cocktail of drug addiction, an overbearing girlfriend they can direct their misogyny at, boring lyrics composed of extremely lazy metaphors that you think are witty and cryptic, daddy issues you bring up unprompted, and death before middle age. Bonus points if you act like you're the only person in the universe to ever experience depression and that your sadness is deeper than anyone else's because you're an "artist". I call it the Kurt Cobain template but it works across the board.
Nicely done! Sun Ra has such a large diverse body of work on such a long timeline if it’s hard to encapsulate for people quickly. I’ve already shared your video with some friends. Thanks for putting this together! 🪐✨🎥💕✨🤘🏽
Syd was a genius and named the band, The Pink Floyd Experience. Quite a lot of geniuses have a brain wired differently and react differently socially, are subject to poor mental health exacerbated. His apathy and wanting to go his own path started his decline in performing with the band, in my opinion. The members did not pick up Syd for the gig because being humans he felt it was pointless for the previous reasons and their own frustration. The other members supported him by trying to get him to go for help, even driving him. They helped produce some of his solo albums. Pink Floyd’s later lyrics shared their collective loss of Syd missing him. Perhaps there was the feeling that they could no longer help or get through to him. To me the quintessential moment is when Syd , in the studio, was showing a new guitar riff and every time coming back he changed it several times until he asked “do you get it yet?” Syd was, and is a driving force in Pink Floyds music. A genius, with human frailties, who was done with one direction wanting a way to go a different way with his creativity.
I think we need to tread carefully with the term "Middel Eastern". There are very many different traditions in that geographical area and it is to he noted that, obviously, SoaD influence is primarily Armenian which is VERY clear (as can also be heard through the track arto, which was straight up made with an Armenian folk musician). Other than that, excellent video.
4:47 That original version of Cicatriz with the completely different chorus, jam at the end & overall slower tempo? I believe was actually originally titled: "State your preference'"...
