Door Ajar problem SOLVED (Ford Explorer 2002) 

Im glad you mentioned the alarm randomly going off, Mine is doing the same thing, The dome light freaks out right after shutting the front doors, the locks keep trying to lock and it drives me nuts. So thanks for the video.

Had same prob with my 2000 Lincoln Cartier town car.( door ajar and cab lights staying on).rear driver door button was stuck and rear passenger button stuck..i guess these doors wasn't opened much..i used a knife to release the buttons without taking of door panels..sprayed them with wd 40 , good as new...

Jose, after trying the lube latch idea.. no deal.. with further investigation, it was the door jam switch that makes contact w/ the door - the switch was disconnected & didn't make contact.. I drilled a screw in to create stabilization, and voila'... that simple for me..however, watching these videos led me to that resolve. While you did it the correct way, I took a simple woman's approach (for now)

I'm having the same problem with the same year model. I just don't know which door it can be. I guess I'm gonna have to check every single door. I was also told that the lift gate in the rear can also be bad causing a door ajar error. I wish there was a way to disable the alarm system all together.

Hello Jose thank you for the video. I am having the same problem now with my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer which is basicall the same as the explorer. I see you bought a door adjar switch. Does it matter what brand you buy and the price of it? I see some for $30 and some that costs more. In your experience, does it matter if you buy the more expensive ones than the cheaper ones? They all function the same right? I know this is an old video but any advice would be appreciated.

That switch took the door ajar icon off even with the door open I thought the door supposed to be closed for the icon to come off

How does the switch come off? Twist? just pull it? Button to push in?

Ya didn't show the hard part...how to get the panel off without ruining it...and also reinstall.

Also check the dimmer nob. i sprayed some electric cleaner in mine... fixed it (95 ranger)

WD-40 is not a lubricant. It’s a solvent. Plenty of lubricants at your parts store or even Walmart.

Mine was the rear passenger door. WD40 said no problemo.

You payed way to much $ 12,99 Amazon I brought 4 and replaced them all just as a precaution

when you say "I saw that it was broken"... HOW did you know that the door ajar sensor was broken?

Part name is Door jamb switch.

Mines was the rear hatch
