I am so grateful for your diagnostic! I have the same problem with 2012 Malibu. Just disconnected the door lock switch of the front passenger door and the problem gone away. THANK YOU!!! Heading to junk yard soon.
Had same problem 2005 malibu maxx would leave car running in the morning and i would lock myself out luck for second set of keys then it started doing it all the time found this video was a godsend just disconnected both doors problem solved until i get new door switch my battery had been draining so i had bought a disconnect to prevent from draining this might had been the issue all along since i did not know the locks where doing this any way thank you thank you nuff said
I know this video is old but I’m grateful for it. I have this old Malibu and my doors started doing this today and this helped me! (God bless me with a new car please Geesh!) Thanks so much! It’s fuse #15 in case anybody else need to know.
Funny, my 2009 malibu just started having this problem today. Thanks for letting me kno it helped on yours. I had to unhook the battery so it doesn't unlock at night. Hopefully this method is fixed tomorrow
Thanks, that was the problem in my 2004 Malibu LS, it was intermittent, some times it arm the alarm by it self without locking the doors, and always was a chime(beep different than the Seat belt and door open or low coolant) like 10 seconds after igniting the car, after removing both door lock switches everything start functioning like normal. excellent way to troubleshot a faulty switch, mine get wet once few months ago on a heavy rain.
Wow, I left my windows down just a bit the other day and it started raining and I didn’t notice till after almost an hour. It wasn’t too wet on my door but I’m definitely having the same problem!
I am having the same problem with my 2011 Chevy Malibu...so you think all I have to do is switch the switches, both of my unlock and lock buttons aren’t working
probable not around now since this is dated in 2015 but worth a shot, how did you get to the door lock switch does the plastic behind the drivers door and the passenger door just unsnap to get to them, are do you have to remove the door panels to get to them, in the video it looks like you got to the door lock by unsnapping the one on the passenger door and if so can you unsnap the one on the drivers door also to get to it?
Thanks for the tip. My 2009 Malibu does the same i took the fuse off and now i have to unlock them manually its a pain in the ass it's been 6 months now
So if the Carlock is acting up you pull the fuse and the alarm goes off. Is that still the door lock or is that for something entirely else? I'm having the same issue. Good Morning
My 2004 only locks while I am driving. My key fob opens the trunk and appears to unlock the doors, it will not lock my car????? So the auto start cannot be used
i got a malibu 2005 maxx ls v6 and i had the same issue fixing it with the same method so far. I dont know what it is . I think it could be the BCM but the dealership needs to pinpoint or trouble shoot to see if is something else
i am happy for you. I am going to do the same and see what happens. heads up! 180000 miles i had to replace the fuel pump gasket. it started to leak very bad so maybe you can expect the same
My 09 Malibu 2.4 STARTS on its own when I first go to the car and hit the drivers door UNLOCK switch. And when I’m finish driving, I can take the key out but the car still runs. PLEASE HELP.
I had a 2011 Malibu that did this, that was the craziest car, I swear it was possessed, that car was the worst, it excelerated by it self bogged down from 50 to 30 while on the pa turn Pike ,, scariest car I've ever had, Chevy took a report but that's all they did, finally I got out left it for the township to take,
Probably needed general maintenance like, cleaning the throttle body out & reinstalling it. The locks flickering is usually caused by a small amount of corrosion in the switch itself- simply take it apart & clean it...
