Uber charges you taxes for using their software program. My boyfriend was bored and started going through the app and he said they are taking money from me for delivering for them.
I think the only thing that matters between the two is that DD threatens you every time you even consider declining an order. UE lets you decline whatever you want, they simply want you to complete the orders that you accept. I don’t appreciate threats of any kind as an independent contractor.
Let the clock run and time out, won't lose acceptance nor get any threats lol Update: they still drop acceptance rate on timeouts, guess they fixed that
I’ve been doing Uber eats for about a month now. I just got my first person report that their order wasn’t received. I wouldn’t even think of not delivering an order and it’s really upsetting that my account is in jeopardy now because someone was scummy. Thanks for this video!
What they should do is use a customer rating and bad customer and tip baiting to filter out the bad people that harass and berate delivery drivers. It should have a neutral job on both sides instead of them taking the customers side all the time.
agreed both sides should be able to rate each other especially if you get some weirdo or karen i totally would want to rate that person 1 star and never see them again
Been saying that for a long time. Why can’t we rate the customers? Don’t send the bad orders to top dashers. DD knows before they send it out. Another unfair thing they do is send you a trip, you decline and they resend the order for .25$ more which makes you decline two orders. Bout fed up!
The fact that you can cherry pick as much as you want on Uber Eats and still be able to go online whenever immediately places it higher than DD in my book. Also great that UE encourages customers to tip more, so the orders that have tips on them are fantastic. However, that’s where the advantages end, because although the highest paying UE orders are better than the highest paying DD orders, the lowest-paying UE orders are also worse than the lowest-paying DD orders.
@@BaffledRichI don’t think that’s true I was out the other night I only took 3 orders and I let a lot of them expire it my acceptance rate is still at 100% and my cancellation is 0
I’ll be in the middle of driving and keeping my eyes on the road and an order for I’ll come in while I’m on my way to my customers location to drop off their food. The fact that I can’t accept in that very moment because I am driving and it is unsafe should NOT be held against me
I do both, but I will say I get way better orders on uber eats pay wise. With doing just doordash my income was pretty bad for gig work, but uber helped fixed that. Like most people said it depends on your market and I have to do both because doordash is deffinitely more consistent.
I’m actually looking in to dd as an add on not replacement bc Uber is so inept. They mess up literally anything they possibly can. Example I’ve been doing it since 2017. My background check expired so they had to recheck. Totally understandable but. They didn’t do anything until it expired. Didn’t give me notice it was going to expire. So I go to sign on and can’t for 7 to 10 days. They could have given me warning or even started the new check a few days before it actually expired. I could go on all day about things like this.
I was on vacation from my regular job for Wed Thur and Fri, so I was dashing/ubering all that time. only made about $20 on Thanksgiving but my total for the week was $820, which we need for a new water heater. Normally I make $200-$400 a week.
I'm in New Orleans and Uber Eats was so good for me last year. I was averaging $30 an hour. This year it's been terrible though. I barely get any decent orders, it became unsustainable, so I stopped delivering. DD has always been terrible for me, maybe because my acceptance rate is low but I never felt like accepting $2 orders.
@@xKouture I actually live in Metairie and what I used to do was go to Uptown Magazine Street after from 4pm to 10pm . I would get a lot of $10+ orders for 1-2 miles. On really good days sometimes I made $40+ an hour without really putting a lot of miles on my car or using up gas. This was in 2022. Those were the good days. Now it's sooooo slow I get one order like every 3-5 minutes and it's usually stuff like $5 for 10 miles. I had to quit.
you have to do the $2 orders and work your approval rating up and your cancellation rate down if it’s at 4% cancellation after declining you won’t even see $2 orders
I’ve been doing both. Accepting orders that only make sense. DoorDash seems to offer generally better offers overall, however my biggest hits have been from Uber. Recently I’ve been splitting between the both. I’m north of Pittsburgh and I’ve been killing it with both apps.
@@BigMod167yeah but that time aspect for DD is ridiculous if you arrive late. Especially considering road conditions and traffic. That’s a huge con in my opinion. I prefer Uber Eats slightly.
@@onealrocky70 I rarley have an issue with being late. If I get to a restaurant and the food isn't ready, I select the necessary options and that adds more time for delivery. I've also been doing local route delivery in a semi truck for 15 years so I can navigate myself through the city very easily.
Yea then u would get dramatically less volume. Being entitled to tips is so exhausting, you always have the choice to decline. Just like how you need money, a lot of people using services do too, it’s already expensive with the fees
don't call it a tip, since tips are seen as optional. They should just put a mandatory charge that goes to the dasher to keep the business running, just like a normal business.
@@el1tefire252 it’s a premium more expensive service. And I can tell you that 99% of people it don’t do it bc they ‘ have ‘ to. I 100% agree that a tip should be mandatory. This is coming from someone who uses Uber eats for delivery too. I’ve never not tipped. Don’t use the f*cking service if you’re not going to tip. In my opinion that’s entitled behaviour. Drive or walk your lazy a** to the store and get it.
My biggest gripe with UberEats is getting delivery requests while I'm in the process of dropping off orders. I know you can turn off new requests and turn the app back on after you finish a delivery, but getting requests while trying to find the drop of is super distracting.
This is a very big gripe for me. Seems like the last half mile. They load you up with two dollar orders that you gotta cancel while you're trying to find an address
Yes, hitting the driver with offers just as they are "preparing to land" is definitely a safety issue, in my opinion. I wonder how many drivers have crashed due to being distracted in this way?
DD is way more busy in my area, unfortunately. I don’t like all of their shady practices but have to put up with it for now. Uber is worth turning on and there’s some real bangers occasionally, I just wish it was busy enough to focus my energy on. I really like how you can just log on and off, nobody cares about acceptance rate or how much you cancel.
Here in the DFW area we don’t have the access the the catering orders nor the largest orders. We don’t have the 5delivery $8 streak bonus either. I’m a top dasher and a majority of the orders I see are $4-$5 dollar range. I went from averaging 23.00 per doing DoorDash to $12-$13 when the reduced our pay. But with Uber eats I average the $23 range for a lot less miles. I sometimes get a large payout for catering orders also on Uber Eats.
A simple app change in my mind is voice recognition accept and decline. This way you can keep both hands on the wheel. It can be touted as a driver safety measure!
Multi app! I drove all in one day! DD, UE, GH, Veho and Roadie. Even had one SenPex today. I basically keep switching from one to another and I don’t care who is paying me. I love the variety too. Today I delivered lost luggage on Roadie at 3am and then kept going staying busy with HomeDepot orders, doordash, Veho packages and even Car Tire delivery in my 4 door sedan!
I been working door dash for a good mouth or 2 its very Excellent vs uber eats just my own opinion I have both apps but door dash has great Prices and I do it on my bicycle
I use those two apps in Canada, we don't have the same features as America does but I find doordash has higher paying orders for a smaller travel distance where uber is just log on, take what you can get. I do like uber's quests where you deliver x amount of orders and receive a bonus etc.
What’s crazy is the food I delivered to the location that the app told me to drop it off . I dropped it off handed it to them and they reported to never get it . I ended up getting a violation because of it
This has been helping me decide to do Uber eats as well I’m averaging 200-300 in two days a week just going to try uber you should do a video on Uber vs Lyft
Its very market-specific. When I drove in one area DD provided 55-65% of my daily earnings. Now I drive in a different area because the roads in the winter are just awful where I was originally and uber eats is 60%+ easily, spark is 30%, and DD is around 10% and I get a small number of GH orders. I am still earning about the same amount overall, just so much more comes from UE.
I drove almost exclusively for GH for 3 and 1/2 years and they started with a carrot and stick approach but it changed to a stick and bigger stick approach which sucks. DD seems to have too much drama like GH. I do Uber eats because there is almost no drama. It’s like fishing at ten different ponds. You have to feel the wind, commune with the delivery gods, move around a lot.
They are both getting worse but as of today doordash has shocked me here in Asheville nc. It seems all the orders are half pay from last month very lame.
Ya because people keep doing the work and there no laws for force better better. Because for what ever reason people don't seem to want to the law the get involved because law = bad which doesn't make any sense
My opinion is whether or not doordash has more options, the options don’t necessarily lead to more money. I get much higher paying offers on UE especially with the walmart orders. My acceptance rate is much higher on UE than DD
In my area, north of Dallas suburbs, Ubereats is the clear winner. Maybe there are too many dashers, not sure, but I rarely can just hit dash now. I have to schedule a dash. Since I am not one to plan my schedule in advance, I prefer Ubereats because I can go online anytime and usually get some decent deliveries.
I did both for years. I would say Uber Eats can lead to a bit higher earnings but is definitely much less stressful. Even the app itself works much more smoothly.
I spoke to a current Uber Eats support person and a former UE manager and both confirmed that the company has literally flooded its pool of delivery drivers. That means that for every customer order that comes in there could be 10 delivery drivers which makes sense when you read in forums drivers saying they are logged in for hours with no orders. And that also aligns with my personal experience. I live in the 4th largest city in North America (Toronto) and i am on a major cross city street with high volume and density of restaurants and high disposable income customers. Plus i have 1 100% customer satisfaction rating over 3 years. Uber Eats used to be a great side gig. NOT ANYMORE!
I've actually seen Doordash earn by time pay better than even Uber in my makret. Uber has dropped all the short mileage pay to $2 per delivery unless it's sitting around for a long amount of time.
@@ciscokid8866 No; actually in NH. Seeing it over and over. Was out for 2 hours and best Uber offer was $8.65 which I declined; ended up doing a shorter mileage DD. McDonalds that should have been doubled up with a local restaurant next door but the local restaurant was closed. Tht paid out $10.41.
Ok um am I nuts? I've NEVER seen bonus pay on über eats. Been on the platform for 4 or 5 months now... with the exception of 20 extra for 5 shop and pays in 2 days time.
I’m going to start Uber Eats. I keep trying to enroll in DoorDash but they won’t help me. I took a new phone number that was previously used who just so happened to work for doordash. Customer service keep telling me a manager will call me. It’s been a month. Still waiting lol
I don’t like that Uber Eats allows customers to reduce tips after delivery. I’ve only had it once but it’s not cool. Now I’m limiting the geographical area I work UE where tip baiting is less likely.
that happened to me today. First time driving too. So disappointing and I will be particular on how far I go to deliver. Tips should be locked in once you place your order.
It depends but the thing is I’ve used both at the same time to see what gets a order quicker and in my area door dash sucks in 25 min time frame Uber eats got me 3 orders while door dash didn’t get a single one that’s with me driving around from my house to LA which is a hot spot for deliveries but in my opinion it just depends on what’s out there the new update for door dash made it a bit worse because it wants you around a specific area to get orders also
Tips for driving both at the same time? I think I learned do not accept a DoorDash order if you’re not currently delivering your Uber eats order to the customer. Especially if you have a combo order. DoorDash wasn’t very happy that on my first day I was 20 minutes late to one of my orders. The customer was just fine and gave me a nice tip but yeah DD didn’t like it.
One thing you didn't mention as an Uber Eats driver is how sensitive the screen is. The slightest screen touch and you'll either have to accept the accidental order, or decline the order, but it'll effect your acceptance rate (if you accidentally touch your screen). Doordash has the accept button so there are no chances of accepting a less than desirable orders.😢
I noticed that the app screen isn't as sensitive as it used to be. I'm not sure which update fixed that but I have to actually hit the accept button on my Android to accept the order....I think. I'll double-check tonight when I log on
I kind of don't understand everyone's gripes on Doordash. I strictly do doordash and I consistently do $25/hr+ and have over a 70% AR. I also only do it part time anywhere from 12-20 hours a week. Although, I've only been doing it 10 months, I consistently make a really good profit. I even calculated that every $120 I make, I spend roughly $10 in gas.
You aren't making $25/hr. You need to deduct your vehicle costs - which is a lot more than just gas. It's depreciation, brakes, tires, oil changes, other maintenance, insurance, and gas. Also taxes. You're likely making more like 15 bucks an hour, which is less than McDonald's wages. It makes no sense to me. Even if you were making $25/hr, that's spare change compared to what you can make by learning a trade.
@@jdaz5462 So let me do a break down for you. Over 5 months, I made $7,343.77. If you take out $1,000 in gas, $1,000 for car payment and insurance, $70 for the oil change, and $250 for the maintenance I had to do on it, it takes it down to $5,023.77. If you divide $5,023.77 by 260 total hours worked, it comes out to $19.32. Not to mention I can write off all the miles I drove on taxes as well. I think you assume I do this full-time in which I stated i only do it 12-20 hours a week (I work a full-time job on top of doing this). I wanted something to where I can start and stop whenever I please. All of this is just a profit for me as my full-time job takes care of all of my bills, debts, and even more on top of that.
@jdaz5462 But take your same logic and apply it to your full-time job. Your full-time job pays for your car payment, insurance, groceries, gas, mortgage, Healthcare, etc. Do we ask what you make per hour after all that? No lol. I really only ever factor in gas, car payment, and insurance. And I still profit $1,000+ a month on top of paying all my expenses. I'd say that's pretty good for a side gig I only put in roughly 50 hours a month.
@@DasherStuYou're not calculating it correctly. When you have a full time job, you only drive to work one time and home. When you're delivering Big Mac meals to people, you're putting mileage on your vehicle with each delivery. If you're not deducting at least 60 cents per mile off your "profit", then you're not calculating your actual profit correctly.
The earn by hour with DD only pays from when you picked up the order to when you drop it off, when in all fairness you should be getting paid from when you arrive to the restaurant. Sometimes you're waiting an extended period of time, and then you're already probably not getting tipped because the algorithm sends you the little to no tip orders and then the location may be close by. So you might put in 25 minutes worth of work but were only on the clock for 10-12 minutes and earning like $4 to $5. My full time job pays me a good salary, but if this was your only job I couldn't see it being worth it.
Personally, if I am scheduled or there is a busy time where the unscheduled can dash, I will choose Door Dash. Uber Eats let's you "dash" anytime of day, but I find the false accusations of undelivered food are more frequent with Uber Eats.
Uber eats makes me more money than DD in my las vegas market . DD has way to many no tipping clowns...also DD restricts you to scheduling for not having High AR ...also DD has zones ..there's just to much restrictions for DD ....
I just signed up for DD and I am doing the research right now. We are retired and my wife is disabled. I need something that does not have regular hours as my wife has health issues that cannot be ignored. Some months she is in the hospital for a week or two and I can't work. If DD holds it against you if you aren't delivering (for any reason) when they say it is voluntary makes me afraid to start with them. I don't have any control over my wife's health issues, but I do need part-time work.
I'll never pick up at 7Eleven again! The clerk wouldn't make the drinks so they were ready when I arrived. I think it was because they were out of one fountain drink the customer order, leaving me holding the bag on making a decision. It took too long to get the order and leave the store (and I had 2 orders) and make my way to the customers. Never again!
Great video of explanation 💡 Im new ❤i wanna start working for door dash soon for side hustle i cant wait, honestly for me as long as the hourly pay is good n just 1$ tips or more doesn’t matter 😂 would be fun $ great driving around🥰 🚗 🌮🥂
I have 2 pizza bags that Dominos just gave to me for free. Im a doorsasher and always accept everything. I currently as of right now have a 4.99 star review 98% acceptance rate ( I either didnt have signal or was ending my dash when i got an order) i usually make around 2k a week when its busy in MD and 1.5k busy week in NH and thats just driving in and starting to drive.
I have some crazy stories about getting to a store and the food is not there. A customer tried calling me and getting my debit card information. I think if i got invited to a podcast via discord or phone call to talk about my experiences it would open some eyes of things that could happen. So far ive been good but it is a dangerous world out there
That referral code is not for you. You may think that but they just want to flood the market so they can prey on new drivers and push out older more informed ones.
DoorDash is super invasive and threatening. If you decline an order, it shows you what your new acceptance rate will be… and if you’re close to dropping down a tier, they give you trash orders on purpose. I keep both running, cherry-pick, and don’t give a hoot about acceptance rate, and I’ll even do two orders simultaneously if both orders start and end in the general vicinity. Problem solved.
Is it normal or an error or desperation on their side that I got top dasher before even taking my first order? I opened the app and I got a notification that I am the top Dasher and I can take orders at any time without scheduling. It was kind of nice. And then I got notifications of the high-paying orders and stuff. I don’t know if everybody gets those or not.
Uber has nothing but garbage orders $2-6 the most is what I get for orders that are 26-35 minutes away, doesn’t make sense to me. On the odd occasion I will get an order $12 for 44 minutes still makes no sense to me when I can do an DD order for $12 in under 8 minutes. Both companies are greedy and full of bullshit can’t wait to stop working for them altogether unfortunately have to do it for now.
I barely do food deliveries, in my market is oversaturated to the points that there's no surge pay and rarely any quest/promos. The customers need to tip 8 dollars to get a 10 dollar order which is rare.
Please trying to make a video if you have friends or info in different states because I think this the bonus paid in DoorDash for example in your city is much better and frequently than in mine( Miami, FL)
I like the flexibility with UBER EATS and I don’t get dinged for declining orders and I can cash out up to five times now I don’t like how long you have to wait to get your money with Uber but other than that o love Uber eats
It’s UE for me. I’m assuming it’s because I have a very low acceptance rate on both apps, but I just rarely get any high paying offers on DD. What I will say is that even the worse DD offers don’t compare to some of the trash that UE tries to throw at you sometimes lol The only thing I wish they would change on UE is to still give you an option to take a picture in-app even when it’s a Meet At Door order. I don’t trust some of these people that have Meet at Door as their drop off option and call/text or put in the instructions to just leave it somewhere.
i took my first pizza delivery with doordash. so i went into popa johns and bought the pizza bag with. i put pizza in the pizza bag. now this was funny cause i grab the handles and head out to my car but without thinking i bring the pizza to customer and he opens the box and all the topping were all 9n the side of pizza😢😮
On UE you can be tip baited, on DD its completely get what you see. I picked up an order and they wanted me to sign a paper and litterally every order except maybe 2 orders was doordash.
Regarding your video on scams there is one we're they call using an phone ID that shows uber. Get you to set up a new payment account and get your money out of your account. I can't remember all the details..
Please be CAREFUL> Doing uber eats - I was robbed at gun point this week in Wicker Park at Jewel store side- two young kids hoped out car, put semi automatic and handgun in my face and said, move and you die. Took my wallet, phone. What makes it even worse is Uber never even called me back ,,, pay is WAY down with UBER
I can't believe Uber didn't call you. Actually I can believe it. They don't want to get sued, so the less they say to you the better, just in case a UE rep says I'm sorry that happened, which could legally imply that UE feels responsible which is shown by the apology. So they are probably just letting the police handle it so they don't make a mistake and then you have more ammo to sue them. Get some free legal advice. You may have a case. Mike, I think you know of that gig driver legal help org or the lawyer that comments sometimes about legal help for serious issues? Maybe if you have that info, you could give it to chrisbell238? Thanks.
Drove for Uber Eats for the first time, and I was not impressed with the fact a customer is allowed an hour to change the tip amount. I took an order that showed $15 estimated pay but when I delivered it, I only received $3.00 total for that order. Good thing I did not drive a 45 minute drive for that amount. Can anyone explain how that is okay?
In my province (Ontario), I'm not required to get supplemental insurance when working for uber, as they provide commercial insurance. Door dash would need me to sign up for a second insurance.
Using Uberfor 8 years. Why is the offer for delivery rides so inconsistent. One minute the offer could be $2 to drive 10 miles. another time it could be $10.00to drive fourmiles. I don't geti t. Doesn't make sense. Also tips are iln consistent. I did an order of food from a high end restaurant The food was $259.00 dollars. The tipwas $5. Other times tips are iln relationship to cost of the food. How could this be. That was the 3rd time from this particular restaurant for expensige food adn $5. tip. I suspect that the restaurant ils charging a delivery fee over and aboveuber
Just run both apps at the same time. When a good order comes through on one app, accept it and pause new orders on the other app until you're close to completing the delivery.
I used to like DD more but now that my acceptance rate went down because of the crap orders and even now I can't get my rating back up because of that reason so I can never just log in and dash so just for that reason alone I just do UE more now. Also I had a bad experience with DD's customer service so. One last thing, I had a very busy Dunkin has orders all the time from DD but when I wait in their lot sometimes I wait for 45 mins for one so I think DD's algorithm is crap too.
I work night shift at my regular job, I know it would vary between areas but does anyone have any idea if its worth it to do doordash/uber eats during mornings/ afternoons? Is it still fairly busy?
I just started doordash this weekend… I made $40 on Saturday between 12-3:30 (first time dashing) and $75 on Sunday 8am-12pm Breakfast was a big hit in my area. I’m hoping Christmas week is better lol
