What about tool radius compensation g41/g42? I think that it should be done this way: cut along the Z axis, measure the diameter. For example we measured the diameter and it is 80 millimeters. The cutter radius is for example 2 millimeters. So we add 2 multiplied by 2 to eighty. We get 84. We go to the work offset page and press X 84. measure. So we tell the machine that the cutters radius centre is located 2 millimeters out of the part surface and on the Z axis we also set the offset as 2 millimeters. Would it work that way?
The diameter doesn’t change with nose radius compensation, if you take a cut and measure the diameter to be let’s say 50mm then you measure X50. in the geometry offset page, given that you don’t have a probe that does it automatically. G41/42 just takes into account the tool radius which affects chamfers, circles etc, you don’t need it if you’re turning just horisontal and vertical.
