Yea deffo Leroy Davis one was top training partner 4 dorian Yates he pushed him hard in every workout they trained together that's why he his one of the best.
I've trained with Dorian at temple gym many years ago after I visited and he took me through a workout.literally took a week to recover the words till failure still echo in my mind the guys an animal to train with.
@@awakeening863 It was likely only 7 working sets....that was the blood and guts protocol. One to two sets, maximum intensity, to failure. But I cannot know for sure. Cheers.
Yeh man. Have made more progress than ever by controlling the negative. Not about slowing the negative but controlling it. Took me years to understand this x
+Sean Kaufman I have a friend that used to train with me and we sometimes screamed at each other, but this is something else... But this can be pretty annoying after a while, you know... One thing is encouragement and a totally another is screamin' at the guy for the whole fuckin' workout.
People just don't understand how to train with intensity, that actually defines and brings the muscle out more but most people are so fuckin' soft that this kind of training and motivation would actually scare or offend the average sucker-laid bitch ass chump out here. That is why Dorian trained in a basement gym with only a few pure savages who really knew how to workout and train with the proper intensity.
@@ChubbyCheeks01 when was the last time you saw anyone training with that intensity...using slow negatives, holding for a second...going past failure...stop being a hater...
@@raulthompson2489 i did the leg press 'wooooohh' that dorian did and the gym owner comes over to me and asks 'whats with the 'woo woo'?' lmao ... this was back in '98....
All other youtube or DVD training vid's (apart from Ronnie), pale into insignificance compared to this. This just switches on beast mode and makes you wanna hit the gym HARD!!!!
Went into temple and bought blood n guts in ‘99 on a pilgrimage w my brother. Worked out there too. Was awesome in there. Thanks for the expression of intensity we all follow sir I salute you.
Dorian trained harder than any other body builder, he loved the little no nonsense hardcore gyms were you could scream and drop weights and people wouldn't bat an eyelid !!! TBE I take a bow ps love his training partner pushing him to failure all the time he definitely knew how to get DY revved up
@@robk5745 dorian and ronnie really did put their health on the line every single workout dorian with the intensity and ronnie with the volume+high frequency and insane loads. Human body can only take so much punishment....
I love the "Blood and guts" documentary. I literally think about this when I workout at the gym. Really showing you the effort you truly need if you're into muscle building. Sure it isn't a strategic chessboard competition of football. But the amount of push you have to give in order to achieve a status like this is unparalleled. This isn't steroids... This is all bonafide blood and guts. Steroids doesn't give you this push. It's all mentality and desire. Period.
This is a true story right here. 2 years ago my buddy wanted to get into working out for first time in life. He asked me about spotting , and how long to rest between sets, or what to do. I said “ when we are working out do exactly what the Leroy does to Yates and I will repeat for you. we will go all the time together if you can be half as good as him”. I may have a great value imitation brand leroy , but wow does it help and work
What a great training partner bet half of Birmingham could hear them training lol yates chest looks awsome like it's about to explode with that pure super human intensity hardly any one trains like yates even today's top bodybuilders LEGENDARY Long live THE SHADOW WARRIOR!!
lol i like writing an abusive reply to a comment that's years old to see if they're still around and what they've doing - like you replied to a comment that i made a month ago - when i saw that notification i'm thinking "what's he referring to?"
When I was teenager we had some underground gym. There was trainer, and he was big fan of Dorian. We have done similar workouts (HIT) - 3 working sets of each exercise, each set untill copmplete failure + forced reps and negatives, even in squats. The growth was HUUUGE. In 17 i was about 85 kg, 1 year later - 95 kg. No steroids, just training with such effort three days a week. Somwhere on computer i have pictures of my transformation, one was took in summer, next - after Christmas. I cannot belive this was me, same guy. Every 6 - 8 monhs I had to buy new jeans because my legs just dont fit in previous. What a nice training style
I have always been a huge fan of The Shadow but never really knew much about the man, Dorian Yates. It has been incredible watching all the interviews with him talking about his life journey and where he is now. Super inspirational. Watching these old clips is awesome and goes to show that if you want to be the best you have to take your body to very scary places. Thank you for sharing your story Dorian!
SQUEEZE IT!!! DO IT AGAIN!!! COME ON DORIAN!!!! WATCH THE NEGATIVE!!! Makes me want to pick up every damn thing in the room! Kudos to Dorian Yates and Leroy Davis, love your interviews and podcasts, I've learned enormous amounts of vital information on diet and nutrition, THANK YOU!
The only shit out that can fuks with this is "The Unbelievable" by Ronnie.....other than that, this is some of the most hardcore gym workout training footage that has ever been seen by mankind.
I was listening to this while testing my max on the bench press. My previous was 225 pounds for 2 reps a month ago Now its 245 for 1 on a cut 255 for 1 now 2 weeka later With a training partner like that no wonder be became 6 time Mr.O
Yep. Last 4 weeks or so, they're amping up the anti-estrogen drugs, and that works nicely to make a guy lean and dry, but the "dry" part is a problem...it makes tendons and muscles very prone to tearing.
I always watch these before hitting my CHEST DAY..... always Inspiring and make me feel energetic. Thank you Dorian Yates and Davis too Legend and the most humble man 💗
Dorian is my favorite bodybuilder of all time. He was one of the smartest to ever compete made up for a lot of disadvantages with his mind. I'm hoping I get to meet him this year at the Olympia. I was shocked to see his form on incline curls though?! Damn he knows better than that LOL
I just did my back and biceps today and I thought I killed it . I was feeling on top of the world until I watched this lol Thx for nothing Dorian lol I’m gonna watch your shoulder workout before I do mine tomorrow just to get me pumped! You the man Dorian! New sub from 🇨🇦
4 times for under an hour each once he went pro. 3 times a week on an ABA BAB upper/lower body split when he competed as an amateur, also under an hour each.
I believe Dorian is the second Mr. O after Ronnie in the number of injuries. I've read an interesting article about the way he trained during competitions. He basically uses force reps in isolate exercises after heavy compound lifts, which causes the tears of his biceps and tri's until he literally couldn't lift anymore which lead to his retirement in 1997. This dangerous type of training might be suitable for IFBB pro's, but certainly not for beginners or intermediate lifters. My best advice is to train smart, train safe and stay humble.
anyone else captivated by the form he uses on incline bench? slow, controlled, and so smooth it looks like he’s using a smith machine. AND using 4 plates to boot. crazy shit.
I noticed this young lad today down the gym..texting every 2 minutes!! I don't get it, I have my towel and my water...that's it. I get serious in the gym, train hard, and get out. End of!
They don't even show him resting between sets...for all we know Dorian rested long, that's what you have to do if you're only doing a few sets and have to put everything into the set. If you're doing 8 reps of bent over rows with 100kg you're gonna have to rest 3 minutes to be able to do it again with the same intensity. Nothing wrong with texting or being on your phone to make those 3 minutes pass, aslong as you're not skipping or delaying sets cause of phone stuff.
