I used to run into her when I was making deliveries in Beverly Hills in my college days. My self conscious impression was always that she was completely the person she appeared, not easily found in that town. She was genuinely interested in everybody and upbeat. Carson had an ability to showcase personalities that is completely underrated. He gives Doris a chance to shine
@@Michelle-pn9xt Because she looks older then her prime but she still has a phenomenal dancers figure and is still attractive here but was an absolute knockout in her day thats why people mention her age they are not used to seeing this version of her if they watch her movie hits
I do have 2 tattoos. One on each shoulder. Left is que sera sera. It has daisies around it. The second was very detailed. A favorite quote. Her autograph is Traced at the bottom. At the bottom “What will be will be” I lover. It took me a year to decide how I wanted it.
So your saying God messed up in his creation of her? She died, there fore she was a sinner deserving of hell and then the lake of fire on judgement day.
I am 32 years old and I work with residents some with dementia! When they are upset or down I play Doris Day songs and even the residents with dementia sing a long to her songs!! I am a fan#!
She sure was an amazing person. I have always admired her for being so protective over animals. I do not care for anyone that does not like or care for animals.
Yes, those "points" were REALLY good. I wish she'd have elaborated on those points...thus revealing more. But, alas: network television has its limitations.
@@fmbighair Read a brief bio. of her life. She had a lot of bad things happen, including the loss of her son and a husband who lost all her money in bad investments.
@@fmbighair She was the Elvis in her day! She was the most well known actress & singer around the world. She was very practical and humble. Que sera sera!😊
My first crush was on Doris Day. I was about 7, living on Oahu at the time. That was in the mid-1950's. Now I'm seventy-one. Despite her age, Doris' death a week or two ago hit me quite hard. Doris Day. You were an inspiration to millions of people the world over. You will continue to inspire many millions more people in the years ahead through your singing, your films, and your various television appearances. Thank you, Doris!
Me 3. About the same age, I was living in Edmonton, and I will never know why. We didn't have television. Maybe I saw her in a movie. I know I heard her on a radio.
Do you remember the days when tuning into a late night talk show was like sitting in on someone else's conversation. Just listening politely and learning from others. Oh, how I miss shows like this.
Doris Day was my favorite actress of the 20th century I loved it when she was in a movie with Rock Hudson love the comedy I use to love to hear her sing she had a great voice We do not have the stars we use to The era I was born in we had legends She will always be the nice innocent girl next door RIP
....... you know when you fall off that high horse of yours the first step is going to be a hell of a fall...Roll and tumble baby... I had some friends of mine I grew up with on Long Island that work for NBC and ABC and CBS and all that crap and I heard the inside story about Doris Day she slept with every guy in the band and if you watch her on this she's got her eyes on the band members as they speak....
StraightGate Jones ........ sworn to fun ....loyal to none... the war cry of the advantageous opportunist American woman who is responsible for the destruction of the once most powerful country. in the world.... make no mistake ...they are indeed responsible for their part.... in this overall catastrophe of our people's and our nation..... this equal opportunity for who?..... this country was made great not by people changing dollars... delegating favors on the worth of a metal.... gold is not wealth... gold is metal ...wealth is what the people do.. it's the good inside of the person..... the things that produce the good in society.... the ideas and the actions.... that makes something great........ not by people with outlandish claims of unearned equality ....even though they want to change the world... I believe it's fair and honest to say the only thing they have accomplished...is actually destroying it.. but we're not talking about the politics of women we're just talking about Doris Day.... she had a sweet personality and she was a very pretty young woman and I think she had a lot of good in her.. I would have banged her too.... but she was to old....and. I was afraid of getting diseases.... and crabs.....
I totally agree. Class, Style, Elegance, Grace and Beauty and one of our worlds greatest voices. She had it all. Who the Hell is replying thumbs down in above comments about Doris? REALLY? Do you have a pulse?
I love Doris Day, such a classy, intelligent, funny lady! I never tire of her movies, especially the comedies with Rock Hudson. She was also a very talented serious actress in dramas, such as "The Man Who Knew Too Much" & "Midnight Lace".
I have loved her since I was a little girl. I still love watching her movies over and over. She was and is perfection to me. Beautiful, classy, so talented, and her love of animals. There will never be anyone like her in Hollywood again..💖
You just know it's taking all of Johnny's skills to keep it together! I remember watching this interview when I was in high school and going nuts because here was this "old" lady who was smokin hot and she kept having to move the sweater back over her chest because it would just not stay put! Couldn't believe that this interview would one day make it's way to RU-vid, but on the other hand I totally understand it, and believe me it has nothing to do with Doris' love of animals!
Never forget seeing her walking with two of her dogs not far from fishermans wharf in San Francisco during a visit to the States in 1975. What an apparition to behold, she was truly stunning and looked every inch the epitome of a Hollywood film star! One of the highlights of my visit!
@JohnSmith-uy7sv why do you keep saying things like this on practically everybody's comments on here. It makes no sense at all. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but when you are asked about it you can't answer your own comments. If you make a comment and are then asked about it you should be able to justify why you said it and you seem incapable of doing that. And before you say it I know the comment wasn't aimed at any comments I've made. But I'm the only one who is brave enough to pull you up about it.
I was born in 1941 and saw every film she ever made….and what a lovely voice…they don’t make them like her anymore……mores the pity…. those were the days my friend we thought they never end ..
I love her to death, but she's a very difficult interview, that's for sure. You get the feeling that at times she just doesn't seem to get the jokes, which is surprising.
She is really shy and nervous in public appearances.. If you can find it . Watch the interview with Merv Griffin. She had to do these shows for the book
Agreed. She is argumentative and combative. Carol's 'lick' joke was cute. Johnny's line about "animals" was a joke. Doris took it another way. Johnny just smoothed over it. He clearly admired her. Johnny was so good. You can really see it here.
Well, she had her son for 62 years. A death from cancer is always sad, no matter how old the person is. But she was blessed with a grandson from her son's marriage, so I would guess she thought that was good. And if there were embezzlement problems in the past, she certainly overcame that because she was able to care for many, many animals over the years, AND was able to afford the upkeep of her beautiful home in California. She was enjoying life right up until the end. At 97. I'd say that was good too. She wasn't laying around waiting to die. She was LIVING! I guess people have different views on what's considered "good".
I thought she was just an ordinary looking girl viewing her photo's when she was 17 -18 but oh my as the years went by she grew into an extreming beautiful woman. R.I.P Doris
Doris on rescuing dogs: "Because I'm taking other people's responsibilities on. They don't take care of their animals". True words. She was a fantastic animal rescuer.
Doris Day and Carol Wayne... And Ms. Day is, here, halfway to her 51st birthday... ...and she is so much sexier than Ms. Wayne, it's STUPID! (The decision on her part, not to wear a bra, was inspired.)
This is Doris. She never bought into show business and is one of the few truly great stars who remained grounded and focused. A lot of the credit goes to her mother, whose reputation was as a grand gal, loved people, loved to chat, when she traveled with Doris to help with her son Terry she was known as "Mom Day" when she was really Mom Kappelhoff.
Wayne Brasler yes it was born in Cincinnati Ohio my aunt pearl was friends with her from the age of 12-16 they still talked my aunt went to Carmel numerous times
She was hypnotic and so beautiful, and you can see in this moment how aware of her power she is. I was born in 1967 and I find her incredibly irresistible here. She was beautiful, self-possessed, and completely in charge of her sexuality. This woman ruled.
Miss you, it was like you would be with us forever 😪😪🤗🤗 so many great memories, music, movies, Romance, love you girl! What an Inspiration to longevity in life! 💖💖💖💖
Glamorous, funny, sexy, smart. She knew exactly what she was doing. Along with all that, she was reputed to be good, kind person. No one could ask for a better epitaph. RIP.
So, she knew she was showing her nipples with not bra on this show and did it deliberately??? "for the wages of sin is death, (she died, there fore she was a sinner deserving of hell and the lake of fire on judgment day) but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. "
I'm an ol' Texas boy who remembers Doris Day from the mid 1950s & onward. She was a great singer, great actress, and she had one of the sexiest speaking voices I've ever heard. She was hotter than Laredo in July.
this was way past her prime. she looked so different.... were her eyes always cocked a little bit from one another from birth? i don't remember them being that way in her movies, but perhaps i forgot. i believe she was a singer too but mainly just an actress in B movies.
Howard Gee, you mean you are fortunate enough to be friends with Miss Day. I love her and am a lifelong fan. Do you still keep in touch with her? I always wanted to meet her and get my photo taken with her. I met some of my other favorite stars but sadly never got to meet Miss Day.
Howard Gee, sorry you no longer keep in touch with Miss Day. I am thrilled that she is doing well. I always knew that she is a wonderful person. I love and admire her for her great talent but most of all for her love and devotion to animals. She has always been kind to her fans. I hope she realizes how much we all love her.
My favorite lady! Loved her movies and her singing. When I'm down, I pop in a Doris Day movie. Rest Well you beautiful talented kind loving human being. Fly away my dear...fly away🕊🕊🕊
What a classy down to earth beautiful lady.. a rare breed these days unfortunately. On a lighter note When Doris says to Johnny Carson, you really must come and see my animals!! in Johnny's head he's thinking i'm looking at your puppies right now Doris ;-)
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Nobody's talking about saving souls - we KNOW only Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can do that - we're talking about bringing back basic civility and class and injecting back into commercial popular culture.
@@writeract2 Again, only through Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 17:5 New Living Translation 5 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv What are you saying - are you twisting the words of people (like satan does) and laying heavy burdens on them (also like satan does), what's wrong with you brother?
She was such a lovely woman. We don't habe anyone these days for young women to aspire or look up to like this. She was so sweet and an animal lover. She was AWESOME !!!
Doris Day had one of the best bodies in Hollywood, this proves that - oh and she was an amazing talent, a humanitarian, a colleague - not the star or the diva. She is something else.
A true lady....a mix of exceptional natural talent with a truly compassionate heart, so strange she never found true love in her life in fact quite the opposite bless her, even her son died at a young age so sad for her, thank you Doris for entertaining us all....you really was the best. Rest in peace special one.
She is my all time favorite. And one of my earliest best memories is of my mom all happy doing the dishes and singing "Que sera sera". Gorgeous sweet and classy.
