At this point, I start to suspect that Mineta acts the way he does partly on purpose just to get a rise out of people. He's far craftier than he lets on, so if he really committed to being a creep he'd be far more "successful" at it rather than suffering his deserved punishment for it at every turn.
You know, besides the crazyness of him managing to do the whole thing in one day, I like that this also reveals that Todoroki is a creature of habit, like a cat, and he's not comfortable in an environment he's not already used to. "We have tatami mats at home, so I can't relax on flooring."
Mineta aside, this is probably one of my favorite slice of life episodes. Just a whole lot of fun and gives a little glimpse into everyone in the class.
However, I do find it really interesting and kinda nice that despite minetas antics, the class still treat him like a member of the family, even encouraging him at some points. A good detail to show how connected this class is

Not to mention you could see the progression of how he acts season to season, as he gets less and less Pervy and more like a regular member. To the point where he hasn’t been Pervy for five years at this point. And The dude actually has some solid lines and jokes with good delivery in timing,
@@jaredtheastralartist2510 I'd also add that despite claiming he's only becoming a Hero to pick up chicks, the fact that he stays with Class 1-A through everything that happens and there being all kinds of off-ramps and that no one would think less of him for leaving in the face of it all, but he doesn't. For all his selfishness and cowardice, Mineta sticks with Class 1-A through it all and in the process proves he's a True Hero when it matters.
A cute episode that gives more of a glimpse into everyone's personalities. You even learn a few surprising things such as Shoji being a minimalist, and Shoto having surprising interior decorating skills.
Just imagine Superman coming to your house and begging on his hands and knees for you to give him another chance. Such a powerful scene. for me anyway.
This has always been one of my favorite episodes. Its fun, creative with the dorm room concept, and some really good characterization, especially with tsu. Also, in regards to mineta, I find it fun that dispute his antics, the class still treats him like family and even encourages him every now and then, their just not afraid to punch him for his bull. In the Light Novels there's a chapter where Koda's rabbit gets out and Bakugo and Deku try to find it, because of this we find out what Mineta's room looks like, to put it simply Bakugo's reaction was "he can go and die" There's also a story about how Todoroki completely remodelled his room
This is one of my favorite episodes. I just love it when the class 1-a students are just around in a group being themselves. I think my favorite part was them commenting on how unremarkable and bare Ojiro's room is and his tail starts to slowly droop with each remark

Kirishima was the first one to apologize and hug Tsu. Because a real man shows his emotions. finding out that Rihu Sato is not just a M.U.S.C.L.E. man but loves baking changes him from forgettable extra to fun background character. Sato looks like Kinnikuman and the pink plastic toys were sold as M.U.S.C.L.E. in America
People say that Mineta’s absence would make the series better, but then he has those moments that give me life, knowing that people refuse to believe it was Mineta doing something cool or interesting
It's common for people to value personality over actions when it comes to characters. Cause you know, how a person thinks speaks and acts is part of what makes you interested in them as a person.

@OtomostheCrazy let's agree to disagree. Cause they kept him the pervy character for 5 seasons, and there was zero change. I haven't seen Season 6, so I can't say anything about him in season 6, but in 5 seasons he is the same creepy pervy guy with zero character development other than he's a perv and everyone knows it. Obviously, the manga is further ahead, but since I know a little of what's happening in the manga, it takes those current events to change him and not the countless others? I don't want any spoilers mentioned cause that is an absolute dick move to do, but 5 maybe 6 seasons and Mineta is still considered the pervy character.

Yes, I’m caught up with the manga, so I know how he turns out after the latest season, but you can’t deny he’s also been growing with the rest of the characters. But yeah, it seems we’re going to have to disagree on this

Mineta makes a lot of sense when you remember the manga was made for teenage boys in Japan, the place that has used panty vending machines. Also you should watch the first movie now. It takes place right before the summer training camp.
There is a little spin-off manga that doesn't get animated about uraraka's day to day life, beeing honest i don't remember the name, but it's sooo lovely and you see her thinking about what she should buy and everything
Great in Episode in between arcs that is used to give us some easy to understand character development. My favorite moment (Probably because Kirishima and Kaminari are my favorite characters) was definitely Bakugo pulling Kaminari aside to help everyone loosen up because he feels responsible for the tension and then paying back Kirishima. Bakugo likely considers Kaminari somewhat of a friend because there are a lot of moments where Kaminari acts in a very similar way to Kirishima towards Bakugo so it's nice that Bakugo used someone where there is mutual respect to make everyone cheer up. Also great addition that the girls all think Kirishima's room is a red flag except for Uraraka who is now really into Martial Arts!
There's two things thinking back on this episode now that I'm rewatching it with you. First, the author had a chance to write out unlikable characters by using the plot pretense of the parents not approving them in the dorm. Yet he chose not to standing by his character choices. Which I think is ultimately a good thing by not bowing down to audience or other outside pressure. Second, there's a "prequel" manga My Hero Academia Vigilantes that takes place a few years before this in which the teacher Eraser Head plays a role. Which comparing that to his reaction about the students breaking the law and taking rescuing Bakugou into their own hands obviously plays a role.
This episode kinda made me feel that while we have powerhouses like Deku, Bakugo or Todoroki, Tsuyu and Mina are like, the heart and soul of the class.
Episode: *emotional reminder* fun times..fun times..fun...*EMOTIONAL GUT PUNCH*. I do like this episode a lot, you see everyone's personalities from it and it's well done.
I love Deku’s reaction to Tokoyami’s room and geeking out over the sword. They’re both just a couple of nerds. It’s funnier in the English Dub because he just goes “GEEET OOOOOOOOOUUUT!!!”.
there's a running theory that Shoji is a Buddhist, his minimalist lifestyle runs with the theory, some Buddhism follows with you only need things that truly serve a purpose, his bed (for sleeping) and his desk (for his schoolwork) everything else is just excessive and not actually necessary for living, he gets his food from the dorms common area or the school canteen, if he has need of entertainment its likely exercise, meditation or the schools library or dorm common room

Mineta is the villain of the slice of life episodes, even more so than the normal villains (who have some sympathetic/tragic backstories or intentions), the fun is in hating his fucking guts. Oh, and sometimes he has moments of almost growth, mostly he's just there to hate though, and take schadenfreude in when he gets his comeuppance.
On the subject of Froppy, I wonder what your reaction to her best friend from Middle School and the story of how they became friends will be. I believe there's an episode or special with them doing a joint training excersise with that school.

I don't know if this was ever confirmed but I remember reading that the reason Mineta exists is because the author of My Hero likes that type of humor. Apparently they decided to put it all into one character instead of having several people be pervy because they knew that kind of character is really unlikable. Basically, they wanted that type of humor in the manga but didn't want to make other characters bad by spreading it out, so Mineta exists. While I don't like Mineta at all, I'd rather him being the only one like this rather than several of the other boys also having that sort of nasty behavior.
Sero might be your favorite character on this episode. Because on 23:07 you can see Sero (tapeguy), Deku and Kaminari (shockguy) as well as Mineta (Grabe boy, the shorty, the perverted one, annoying one, the "😒" person) are on picture....but Mineta seems to be mummified and been dragged by Sero. Mineta got what was coming to him.
It's just a culture difference. Remember: you are watching japanese shows, these Mineta scenes are funny in Japan and the same happens with a lot of animes (Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter is another example, japanese women love that creep lol).
26:50 amidst an emotional moment Iida never ceases to make me (and JP/honorific understanders) laugh with his "Tsuyu-chan-kun!" -san -sama -chan -kun ; common honorifics. Asui Tsuyu prefers "Tsuyu-chan" i.e. address me cutely like we're already familiar/friends. Izuku calls boys -kun and females -san (except when saying Tsuyu-chan). Iida calls _everyone_ -kun. Midoriya-kun, Uraraka-kun. (as general student pattern I mean). Iida calls everyone -kun, but Tsuyu wants to be called Tsuyu-chan. So he calls her "Tsuyu-chan"-kun 😆
Im having a problem. Im starting to enjoy Mineta, because of your reaction to him. So when whenever he starts doing/saying anything im finding it funny, because of how much you hate him.
Bit late here, you might not see this, kinda binging these at the moment, but I've always wanted to like Mineta. Emphasis on WANTED, having an unlikable little creepis fertile soil for character growth and an arc about respecting women/boundaries, and going from being someone who has to try to be liked, to someone who deserves it would be cool, and you can even see them toy with the idea in the exam with the teachers, where he talks about his classmates not being cool because they're heroes, where it's a status symbol that MAKES them cool, but being heroes because they're cool, where being genuine, cool people made them want to become heroes. He used to phase me a lot less because I grew up with characters like Master Roshi, Kon from Bleach, Jiraiya from Naruto, and so on, but they all had a different thing going on that (theoretically, results may vary) made them being perves a good joke. Like Master Roshi's whole bit is that you expect this wizened old man, legendary master of the martial arts, to be in complete control of himself, to live up to the legend. Him being this rumored hermit, martial arts master leads you to expect like, Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid, but then you meet him and he's just comedically disappointing. Kon is like, a stuffed animal buddy, so you'd think he's all cutesy and lovable but actually it's just the whole Seth Macfarlane Ted bit, where the kids toy is a foul mouthed asshole. Mineta...does not do anything like that. What you see is what you get. MAYBE it's that he's in the Hero course, and the contradiction with him essentially being a sex offender in spite of that is the joke? But I dunno, if that were the case you'd think the story would communicate that better though. Like, they introduced Bakugou as a vicious bully who told the protagonist to kill himself, I feel like if they really wanted to, they could get something really cool from Mineta. Not caught up on the manga, so as far as I know they HAVEN'T, but still.
the issue of a spy at UA was not delt with in the manga until after season 5 was finished. No voice actor or animator knew if there was a traitor or who it was in an episode you will see for a long time. Kirishima is rich. he would need a huge allowance to save up that much at 15. In the manga during a dark point, he destroys the punching bag in his room and casually orders another online.
In the early seasons I tolerate Mineta because he gives creates situations for our cast to demonstrate their personalities and powers. Each time he goes off on something pervy we get to see how various guys respond and try to stop him, with only Mr. Aizawa having consistent success, so then the girls get to respond and use their abilities to punish his attempt. By the time any fights with real stakes start happening we already know how strong most of our cast is both morally and in terms of their combat abilities because of Mineta. By the end of season 3 that purpose has been served and it is no longer valid.
That whole moment with Tsu crying actually makes me angry whenever I see it… Because I know it’s supposed to be portrayed as her being sad and feeling like they ignored her… But the way it’s shown makes it feel like she’s sad that they didn’t do what she said, and it’s like “I’m so used to being listened to that the one time I’m not it hurts my ego”…. So even though it’s not SUPPOSED to be interpreted like that it’s the only thing I ever see
Really? It didn't really feel like either of those to me, it's always felt more like she felt bad about what she said to them and was worried they thought she hated them now or that they hated her. In the hospital she literally said something along the lines of "If you do this then you'll be no different than villains" and that's a pretty harsh thing to say to your hero-aspiring friends, even if she was correct from a legal standpoint. It was probably weighing on her mind anyways, but then she heard that they went so she probably felt even worse. She just didn't want them to resent her for saying what she said basically

For some reason, I am emotionally more involved and I care more when I watch an anime for the next time. They aren't all that canonically important, but some of the fights are so budget breakingly beautiful, that they may as well be a must watch. But i totally get it if thats too much lol.

Mineta isn't necessarily meant to be funny. He's meant to be hated. But his character IS at least realistic. He's a horomonal teenager who refuses to learn boundaries. He goes way too far way too often, but i think we all knew a guy who did in high school.
He's definitely meant to be funny. The author is clearly very fond of his character. He guys more screentime then tail dude. But he's just an anime character, you're allowed to enjoy him. It's not that serious

i think the worst thing about mineta is that he actually brings down my opinion of the entire class and school by him not getting either expelled or set straight by the other students. like they're supposed to be heroes, i can understand him being like that for maybe a month at max but if nobody told him to cut that shit out or they'll be beating his ass they haven't done enough as heroes to stop him.
