everybody in the world knows this little pas de quatre. When you learn it you learn the there is a somebody pulling. This is either the lead on the left, or the lead on the right. It s the most exacting choreopgraphy
I know almost nothing about ballet (I apologize for that) but I have so much appreciation for this because of the coordination and talent that goes into that dance. :D
You can just see the little ones. Sticking close together, curious, exploring their new world, and at the end trying (and I think failing) at their first attempt to fly.

such a merging of art. a piece of music composed by one person, musicians who play it, dance choreographed by another, dancers who train all day everyday to perfect their craft, all for a production based on a piece of literature by yet another person
I don't know why...but ballet has always been my favorite type of dance. The dancers make the moves so effortless, but it takes so much control to keep the moves perfect!
So from right to left, we have Dorothée Gilbert, Mathilde Froustey, Myriam Ould-Braham and the last one I don't now :) All from POB (though now Froustey is a Principal at San Fransisco Ballet and Gilbert and Ould-Braham are Étoiles at POB)
I think all 4 became etoiles! No complaints here. IMO, the best I’ve ever seen. That might be a good comparison video to make. From France, USA, Great Britain, Russia, China, Australia, Canada, etc.
+Nioka “LoveToVlog” Vinson Yes! Everybody always wants to get their pointe shoes, which is totally understandable. I have pointe shoes and let me tell you, they are a lot of work! But, they are also very fun to get, haha. Hope you get them soon!

@Katatha75 She didn't stoped dancing. She was tired of not being promoted. She was a jewel of the paris opera ballet. It's such a shame that she never been promoted soloist... She has a website with many videos. So we can see what we've lost!
Yes it is! Oh I think you won't be disapointed by this version, it's a beautiful production :) Agnès Letestu is one the best Odette/Odile, she has been nominated étoile after this ballet. And the corps de ballet is stunning too. If you are interested in watching ballet you should know that there is a lot of things on youtube, even complete ballet! Now for example I am watching Sleeping Beauty with Aurélie Dupont (1999) I actually discovered ballet thanks to internet... ;)
The Little Swans are always performed by four relatively unknown novices to the ballet company. Ironically, being a Little Swan is a good way to get noticed.
Novices? This was performed in 2006, I believe. Dorothée Gilbert was only a year away from being promoted to Étoile in 2007 (she joined in 2000). IDK about the others, but Froustey is now principal dancer at SF Ballet in California, Gilbert and Braham are principal dancers at POB.
@@newcenturypianists3195 Thank you! I heard the Little Swan 'facts' I mentioned on an NPR feature many years ago by someone who had been a Little Swan and described just what went into being one. Clearly it's not always like that!
Juliano Rondinelli Absolutely. Can you imagine the hard work that must have gone into this. One can almost imagine the ballet master or mistress in the background - Again and again we are not performing elephants mes enfants. Dear God, what a life and what dedication. The dancers look so frail, but must have the constitution of I don't know what. Grace, artistry and well... words fail me. Cheers.
