In this episode of DosBite, we wanted to show you how to get started on DosBox. In this video we use DosBox 0.74. DosBox is a emulator that you can use on newer OS's like Windows 10 etc. We wanted to show you a little about how to get started and just to show you around Dos Box. As this is something you were interested in, last season we wanted to do a better video for you and feel free to ask your questions. DosBox is a great little program for playing Dos Games on your much newer computer. It will work on Windows 7/8/10 and even 11.💾

We can switch from 80x25 text mode with 8x16 character size to 80x50 with 8x8 character size with a little help from debug to use bios function. @echo off REM Set the textmode to 80 column x 50 rows (8x8 character) REM No parameter needed. I'm trying to play a game I played as a kid called Gadget from 1993! It's on the level of Myst as far as how incredible of a game it was

Sounds awesome, are you using DosBox? I love getting old games to work. The last one I made work was FIFA 97 and had to use the F keys to slow the chip down within DosBox.

Can you do a tutorial on how to setup games with multiple CD's or ISO's and switch to another disc or iso when called for?

There is an [autoexec] section at the end of the DosBox config file where we can place a path command, our mount command(s), the drive letter to change and an executable to start. I start a batch file at the end with a menu made with the external choice command(extract into the mounted folder) and with checking the errorlevel in reverse order to jump forward inside the batch file.

Total hopeless get to do anything. I have downloaded the programming file to the C: drive. I can't get it to appear in DOSBOX. I use mount C: C:files, a use dir. The view does not show the uploaded file.

On Doxbox. Type info or help. It should show you what to type etc. Watch my other video to help you. Note make a folder first on Windows ie a folder on C as say Games. Then in dosbox. Type: mount c: c:\games Type: dir To ensure its that folder and not your real drive. Follow my video for more. It's hard to put into words. But hope this helps a little.

Scummvm is by far the easiest emulator to use and i cannot fathom why all emulators are not as easy..just designate the file path in scumm and then just add and play.....

Most times i use Debug from Paul Vojta extracted/unziped in the mounted folder to create tiny x86 executable. I never play DOS games. I am on an Android tablet with a DosBox app installed.

i wanted to play lucasfilm labyrinth after 35 years. vice 64 is stuck n "insert disc", dos box....dos box mounts it, by drag and drop, then it wont dir the first disc, or it won't do anything really. it installs it, then it wont dir... No wonder people lose interest in this, before even starting.

Keep trying. Watch our Video on how to use DosBox. It should show you how to mount your drive and CD drive. Depending on the game. They are at least three ways to mount a CD drive. Type help in DosBox to see how.😊👍
