ha! i used version 5 briefly in elementary school, and it did have a print preview function that would show you what the printed document would look like before you actually printed it
There is a config file for DosBox and at the end of the file is a [autoexec] part where we can put a path command, our mount commands, the drive letter to change and an executable to start. I start a batch file with a menu inside made with the choice command(download/unzip) and with checking the errorlevel in reverse order highest first to jump to a label with the goto command.
@@Dosbite We can add our dosbox drive letter (C:) to the existing path. PATH=%path%;C: Now we can start all executable in the path (C:) enviroment from any location drive&subfolder without to specify the location.
I bought tomb raider one and unfinished business from Gog but it keeps crashing on startup so I bypass GOG and went into dos box, but it reads insert cd my pc doesn't have a cd rom drive I look at the forums to see if I could get it to work have not luck any way GoG is not very helpful you help would be appreciated thanks
@@jpaqpc not got my Dosbox book on me lol But if you type help or info it tells you all the comments you need. I tend to make a folder on the C: drive called games and work from that in DosBox. Ie. Type. Mount c: C\Games Something like that, you then need to start the cd drive in DosBox and tell it what letter that drive is. So if your cd drive is E. You type. Mount e E: -t usecd Might be little different, but the help will tell you. They are 4 commands to try for cd drives Then you can install and play that game in dos. If that dont work, get a retro laptop or pc with windows 95 or 98 and that will play most games of that age. Check spec tho. Hope was helpful.
How do you install DosBox? How do you start it? Do normal DOS commands work at the Z: prompt? Very confusing, a lot of errors, why E: rather than C:, how do you install a game, how do you run the game? I hope this isn't your best work. I'll find another video ... thanks.
I find it's easier to have a folder setup on your computer just for games. And if you can install them within that folder. And yes all Dos commands work on DosBox. Type help or Info in DosBox to show you how to set it up and google the comments you want. Hope this bit more helpful. Hard to explain by text. Have a good day 😊👍
this is the machine i wrote my first real programs in basic turbo basic by Borland, an ide w/ a debugger and everything! still surprised it ran in 512k
Total hopeless get to do anything. I have downloaded the programming file to the C: drive. I can't get it to appear in DOSBOX. I use mount C: C:files, a use dir. The view does not show the uploaded file.
On Doxbox. Type info or help. It should show you what to type etc. Watch my other video to help you. Note make a folder first on Windows ie a folder on C as say Games. Then in dosbox. Type: mount c: c:\games Type: dir To ensure its that folder and not your real drive. Follow my video for more. It's hard to put into words. But hope this helps a little.
So the dos box work simuler to window command's And the original dos Tha is nice to know but it's any way to make what gog does in the dos game but in a none gog dos game to make a sorcut that works with out need to add all those command's all the time?
Scummvm is by far the easiest emulator to use and i cannot fathom why all emulators are not as easy..just designate the file path in scumm and then just add and play.....
@@Dosbite Thank you. Are you on Facebook? I can send you the game and the version of DosBox that I'm using and having problems switching cd's and iso's.
i wanted to play lucasfilm labyrinth after 35 years. vice 64 is stuck n "insert disc", dos box....dos box mounts it, by drag and drop, then it wont dir the first disc, or it won't do anything really. it installs it, then it wont dir... No wonder people lose interest in this, before even starting.
Keep trying. Watch our Video on how to use DosBox. It should show you how to mount your drive and CD drive. Depending on the game. They are at least three ways to mount a CD drive. Type help in DosBox to see how.😊👍
Sounds awesome, are you using DosBox? I love getting old games to work. The last one I made work was FIFA 97 and had to use the F keys to slow the chip down within DosBox.
You're absolutely right, George Martin still uses Wordstar to write his books, he says the program still does what it needs to do to meet his needs, he sees it as an improved typewriter... and he is right. As long as a program does what you want and you're comfortable with it, why change?
im sorry but this was just way to much yappin... i lost trail of wtf you were doing like 10 times. i just wanted a quick easy to understand guide to mount a game.. not what you find silly, smilies flying around and stuff like that... come on man.
The best way to mount or load a game in DosBox is by mounting a Games folder with your old games in. Use that as your drive. Use the help list to see how to mount. If your using a disc, they is three ways to mount a CD drive. Test each one till game works. I hope this was helpful.
@@Dosbite I use batch files as an open source container to put all instructions inside to create a tiny executable with a little help from debug. I made some videos(no speech) to show how it works and to share the batch files. Have fun.
I used to have the pc200, brilliant pc for its time. I used to do programming on it, word and office documents using... I forget what it was called, I used to play games on it as well. I did upgrade the memory on mine, I think you could even insert a hdd into it or a 51/4 disc or cd drive. Loved it.
There is an [autoexec] section at the end of the DosBox config file where we can place a path command, our mount command(s), the drive letter to change and an executable to start. I start a batch file at the end with a menu made with the external choice command(extract into the mounted folder) and with checking the errorlevel in reverse order to jump forward inside the batch file.
Most times i use Debug from Paul Vojta extracted/unziped in the mounted folder to create tiny x86 executable. I never play DOS games. I am on an Android tablet with a DosBox app installed.
We can switch from 80x25 text mode with 8x16 character size to 80x50 with 8x8 character size with a little help from debug to use bios function. @echo off REM Set the textmode to 80 column x 50 rows (8x8 character) REM No parameter needed.
