Honestly dude, I think I can speak for many others when I say it doesn’t really matter what type of games you’re reviewing. I watch your channel because I like your content and insight on videos games as a whole. I've started my journey playing DotA 2 as a new player and I've not regretted it one bit. The steep learning curve is a fun challenge and as someone who enjoys top down games this just feels right for me. League felt very one dimensional and this provides alot more functionality both in the client and game. The mechanics are not too easy I learn but extremely hard to master properly. I've enjoyed my time and will be playing DotA2 for may years to come.

This is the most well done and thought out "first impressions" video done on Dota. Most content creators half ass the video with a footage of their first game where they have absolutely no idea how to play the game and they dont even make any effort into figuring it out but you seem to have learned what most dota players take thousands of hours to realize and incorporated it into your first impressions video which is awesome. This is a brilliant game. I've been playing, between Dota and Dota 2 for, about, 11 years and i just can't stop. Even if i play other games, eventually after a 2 days pause i'll still comeback for another 4 or 5 hours session of Dota, and if i'm in a "regular phase" i'll play 2 or 3 games every day of the week and i'll make an "extended gameplay session" on most weekends. Despite all that and the fact that Dota2 is, objectively, a masterpiece of a game, you are right when it comes to matchmaking and new-player experience. The "new-player experience" almost doesn't exist, is just an average tutorial that does not prepare you to the complexity or intensity of the human vs human-online-game itself. On top of that the matchmaking formula really seems broken sometimes, but i do think that happens (and it becomes significantly more broken) because of all the smurfs... the only suggestions i have to improve that is for Valve's Dota 2 itself to actively promote Official (while allowing outside partners) In-House Leagues with prizepools and official Ranking , meaning, you can't play in that specific daily, weekly or monthly In-House League if you don't use your main-account. In my opinion Dota 2 desperately needs good In-House Leagues with good prizemoney incentives to differentiate between casuals that just want to play the game and don't care, those that aren't pros and despite being very competitive don't want to become pros (but have a tangible material goal to aspire to and be competitive about it), those that want to become pros and have a competitive environment in which they can compete and evolve (in which prizepool acts just like a cherry on top of their main goal), and also those that are already pros but can compete in kind of a Practice League that consists only of the 100, 500 or 1000 top players in their region or the world, so that they can still practice and evolve while also making the possible tier 2 and tier 3 scene grow and evolve. It is true that Dota 2 has lobbies that could possibly turn into In-House Leagues.... but the Truth, imo, is that Valve or the Dota 2 Developing Team, needs to actively engage in the promotion, regulation and development of it. Honestly i feel like there's not a single Marketing team in any Valve's game! Is the vast majority of Product - Marketing shit? Yes! - Could Valve make Marketing something genuine and harmless while promoting their own games, Tournaments and In-House Leagues? Ofc they could!!! Promoting a product is only a bad thing to do when you don't have a good product! But Dota is a good product! What it lacks is MEANINGFUL features that can change the entire dynamics of the game itself, not how it's played. I mean, considering the "outside features" of the game, like the new-player experience, were long past the phase of "how the game is played" When it comes to Dota 2 there are 2 main things i find ridiculous (apart the tutorials and not having a Campaign Mode in Dota in 2020): 1- Having Normal Matchmaking and then to have Ranked Matchmaking with no prizepool of any kind, while not having any kind of official In-House League with In-House League ranks and regular prizepool. 2- Having he ability to report someone for Communication Abuse when you already have a Mute Option within the game itself. Why does it happen?... Imo it happens because of the new-player experience... In a game like Dota, the option to Mute someone should be highlighted and there should not be the option to Report someone because of Communication, while maintaning the option to Report because of intentional Feed or AFK. You already have a Mute option in-game! There is no excuse to have a Report Option about Communication when in the same game you already have an individual, player-by-player, Mute option! Honestly i think the game is a true videogame Masterpiece! But sometimes i think Valve/Dota team just makes it unnecessary complicated on themselves and the players, while forgetting what made Dota a brilliant game at several levels! (Also still waiting for that Solo Campaign experience XD)

I tried to get into Dota recently, as expected I was terrible. I told my team i was new but that didnt stop them from reporting me. Eventually I got reported so much that I was put into the low-priority matchmaking pool, severely limiting what I could play. Even there, despite saying I was new, the other players were convinced I was throwing or a bot. The new player experience was such a huge turn off for me. I learned nothing from the tutorial, and trying to find guides online is difficult when you're not sure what you arent doing right. I think there is a general lack of a proper MMR system as well. I was consistently put into games with people of a much higher level than me, which not only ruined the game for them due to my lack of experience, but made it unfun for me as well as I spent the entire game getting farmed and flamed. Generally I can deal with toxicity, but Dota had more of an effect on me because despite trying my hardest and trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, every single game my entire team would end up flaming/reporting me. I haven't even opened the game in a while because just trying to start the game was such an unwelcoming experience. I felt like I was (literally) being punished for being new, and that since I don't have a good understanding of the game that i just shouldn't play it at all. Compared to other MOBAs I've played, Dota is by far the worst when it comes to trying to get into the game. Theres just no support system for new players, and you eventually end up only being able to play one game mode because you arent as good as everyone else yet. It is a beautiful game and the different heros all look really cool, but that isn't enough incentive for me to deal with the constant toxicity and reports. If valve would address these issues, it could easily be one of my favorite games, but I'm sure I'm not the first to say this and I doubt it will happen anytime soon. :(

As somebody who has put in thousands, close to 10 thousand hours into Dota, i pretty much agree with everything you said here. The biggest problems are definetly smurfs and the new player experience, Valve did mention improving it, so i guess only time will tell. Also btw, being crusader with that little playtime is quite impressive, so you're doing well!

also, I would like to mention that the game's support is phenomenal. Every 6 months, it's like it becomes an entirely new game, and in between there is a bit of stuff to keep us going. There always is the spring slowdown, when they unveil spring cleaning to unbreak the game for tournament season, but other than that, it almost always feels fresh. At least in my opinion.

@@dinosaur8825 Well the thing is that me and my friends play a lot of games together, and things like that never happened, what brought the worst in us wasn't just dota itself, it was the community, the constant arguing, insults , the toxicity , and it was never ending. never i have met another games community that was so fucking salty and toxic. At the start we just ignored it and enjoyed the game, but over time it got to us , and the game became like a chore. now we playing games together with no such issues. So yes, deleting Dota 2 was the best decision we made.
@dinosaur8825
@dinosaur8825 4 года назад
My point is that you are still avoiding the core issue. It's the people that are toxic, not the game. Therefore even if you delete dota 2 you will still encounter toxicity in its various forms. I think its more or less the mentality you have going in game. Just try to focus on having fun and less on winning. Honestly I was toxic in game because i focused too much on winning until i had a realization that i'm not a professional dota 2 player nor am i planning to be one therefore winning is not a priority. I don't play dota 2 atm because my laptop cant handle dota 2 but if i played dota 2 now, i would focus more on learning and fun. More or less my games would consist of ranked games and ability draft games.

I hated this game the first time I played it. It felt slow, had too many confusing mechanics and my team kept yelling at me for not being a pro before to get in my first unranked game. It took me 5 years to give it another try and I fell in love with it. Now I only play Dota and lol is what I play when I just want some action in aram mode. This game has the opposite philosophy of modern game design that encourages instant gratification and quick, cheap dopamine. It's really fun but u gotta work to get to that fun. Anyway didn't expect you to be playing this game lol that was a good surprise. Hope to see more Dota content on your channel. Regarding the disruptor match: For your rank you itemise good, good map awareness, and you played Disruptor really well, at least n the clips you picked Keep an eye on your creep kills and try to set yourself goals for certain timings in the game. Travis Beastwood hey thanks, Archon or Legend is my goal for now, I watch a lot of pro games and guides from Gameleap on RU-vid, I need to get better at lane pulling and sacrificing my early game exp for the carry I think, and stop trying to save dead team mates which causes me to die myself :/

It shows that you are watching pro content and maybe guides. You are well ahead of your rank peers. Try to focus on stacking camps and farming those with your aoe nukes as a pos 4 or 5. You will win by simply outfarming the enemy team. Especially as a hero like snapfire that transitions really well into a core. In your current rank outplaying isn’t as safe as out farming. But most importantly have fun even if it´s hard. Mind sharing your match history? My discord account is “Oneim#9999”

Hey LazyPeon, nice to see you give Dota a try, just wanted to give you a quick tip for the game. CTRL + SHIT + LEFT CLICK on multiple items will have them all be put in your quick buy option. Also, instead of clicking to get a new ability you can actually use CTRL + Q levels up your 1st spell, CTRL + W levels up your second spell, CTRL + E levels up your 3rd spell and CTRL + R levels up your ult. Use that when you fight if you wanna level a spell instead of left clicking on it. Saves you a lot.

The gameplay itself has a face pace (like most of mobile moba games), the graphic looks like a mobile moba game too and holy shit look at the cinematic trailer. It gives me a strong vibe like one of those mobile game advisement trailer. Cinematic trailer is cool but the game itself is garbage. Just like a Chinese mobile game. But I cant complaint because League of Legends/Riot is owned by Tencent (which is a chinese company)
