Today, we’re finally taking a walk through Dotonbori and Sotenbori! This video took a lot longer to produce that I thought it would. Guess the process of the previous Kabukicho/Kamurocho comparison really took it out of me. Glad to finally have this done and ready to show to you all.
During my trip to Japan in 2019, I was able to spend part of it down in the Kansai area. Along with going to Kyoto, I was able to spend a few days in Osaka. I hadn't really planned much around filming there, but knowing I'd end up down in Dotonbori, I was able to do a walkthrough of the area. I didn't use a ton of that footage in my Floundering Through Japan series. It was still enough, though, to be able to compare the area to Sotenbori in the Yakuza game series. Honestly, I think there's a lot more direct comparisons between real life and in-game than there were with Kabukicho and Kamurocho. Yet, beyond the main shopping street, things do change a good bit.
