Your painting is fantastic! However, the best part for me was your soothing voice and demeanor. It was very pleasant and relaxing to listen and watch you paint!
I just bought the pdf of your design and having been pencilling little notes on it while watching you paint, about the swishes! I'll refer to a butterfly book for some further colouring ideas Really looking forward to painting this. You've made a fabulous job of the resining too and the result is magnificent, lucky niece, she'll keep it for ever :)
Such beautiful work! 14:50 ~ "Creative Process." I find that I am at my very best while I'm creating, especially with my hands, and with singing. God said, "let us CREATE man in our own image," God is a creator, therefore we are creators, and that is when I'm at my best, like I said, "when I'm creating," another beautiful thing, and that is my label, ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL THING by Ruby. I look forward to trying the "dots," I live a mile from the Chetco River so there are tons of rocks for me to try with.
The Dotting Center if you want to resin canvas put a block of wood that fits the exact dimensions of the back of the canvas and tape it there while you resin the front then just remove it when the resin has fully cured in a few days. Don’t remove the wood till it’s fully cured or it can pool or dent your canvas from the weight of the resin
After watching your Spring Egg Tutorial I wanted to get to know your channel. I like what I heard and saw. Your soothing voice was just what I needed as I in full bio-hazard gear nurse my only daughter through this pandemic. By God's grace she has began to resolve after being in quarantine for two weeks on her back and on oxygen for the last 3 days. You are so in tune to life and it is reflected in your art and in your voice. Thank You. I am here to learn.
It was such a pleasure to read your comment. So heartwarming. I can't imagine the strength it takes to care for a loved one with this illness. It must be so scary. You're a HERO MOM!!! I'm glad you're taking some time for yourself to de-stress. I'll be praying for both you and your daughter. My heart goes out to you❤️Stay well.
I want painting to be fun so if I'm constantly worried about being perfect, it will cause anxiety rather than relieve it : ) Painting is my way of calming down. Thanks for your comment
I finished and it’s great for my first piece. Never dot painted before so I am happy. I know my next attempt will be better. How would I remove all the paint to start over. Thank you
I LOVE the finished product .. did you resin it to get the glass look?? Just beautiful. This is on my top 5 list of DO ASAP.. however.. I would respectfully request that you either tell us, or show us, what color you’re using. I watch on an iPad, and wasn’t sure which color you were using some times. Just a little frustrating when I can’t tell which color to put on. An example… what was the first color you out on the black? Was that one of the flash colors? Are those final outlining dots the white pearl? Just so helpful when we see, or you tell us which color you’re using, DEF a beautiful piece of art! Thank you
Thanks! I did add resin to the painting in the end to get it ultra shiny. I’m so sorry about not calling out the colors as I painted. I’ll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for watching! Enjoy painting your own.
Hi, I bought the butterfly plate from your link. And I have transfer paper tape in my hand . but I couldn't transfer the butterfly to canvas. Any tips?
OMG , that’s soooo beautiful , but for a beginners is not posible to do it ,I star dotting, looks easy but isn’t , thanks for sharing your amazing talent.
It's probably the way you're holding the tool. Instead of angling it, try holding it upright more. I bet you just need to be more perpendicular to the surface. 👍
I keep watching lots of videos on dotting, and in each one the varnishing step is skipped over with just a note to do it. Do you happen to have a video on the sealing portion(s) by chance? Thank you.
Good point! I think we all just skip that part because it’s boring but you’re right it’s a pretty important step. I’ve covered it in a few of my videos. You just want to make sure your art is dry and each coat is thin 👍
Wow! I'm loving your videos. I have noticed on this butterfly you are not turning the canvas to dot the left side. Would that be to keep the dot shapes the same from you painting from below, or for the video sake. It seems to paint while it's all wet you are risking smearing dots while reaching over from the below/right position to paint the left side. Thanks.
It was totally for the video’s sake. I don’t paint “naturally” on any of these videos, 😂 Usually I’m hunched over the piece but I can’t because of the cameras and lighting.
I’ve watched your video a few times and bought your pattern. Feel confident enough to start experimenting, just wanted to thank you for your amazing video and superb talent.
Thank you! I’d love to write a book one day. I’m someone who’s a visual learner so I tend to go to videos for help, but I know a lot of people prefer reading. Thanks for the suggestion :)
What did you use to seal it and get the wonderful shine? It's beautiful by the way! I just got the pattern and this will be my first dotting on canvas. I have done it as a nail tech and on film negatives as a photographer. I am excited!!
First timer watcher and subscriber. I liked so much about your video. I have 63 years of art making, but am new to dot/mandala. I learned several new things from you, new transfer paper. Old typing carbon paper has disappeared. New tools. And I really want to make a channel but you are SO right, filming, editing, uploading is entirely a different and challenging skill set. I also like reading and talking about books. I am mostly self taught, from back when phones had rotary dials and tails attached to walls, and you had to go research at your local library. I’ll have to think about all the books I have read over the years. Color shift paint was first called chameleon paint about 25 years or so ago. I have made about items with dot art, you art so skillful, so impressive. And your niece ( and her parents ) will treasure this beautiful butterfly. Thanks for this video!
Please make a channel! I’ll subscribe! The best advice I ever got about starting a RU-vid channel was to expect that you’ll make a few stinkers in the beginning, but just keep making them and you’ll get better. Most people appreciate consistency over fancy editing so just start making videos and you may enjoy it : ) I also had a rotary phone on the wall growing up when I was a kid, lol. I’m so glad you found dotting! Enjoy your new hobby ❤️
You know what? It worked for this painting but failed miserably on a different painting because the canvas wasn’t as tight and it pooled in the middle! 😟 I’ll never resin a canvas again. Only use wood panels for resin from now on 👍✨
I have seen others use a book inside the canvas to keep it level also others have used the pieces of wood that come with the canvas to stretch it out so it doesn't pool in the middle
Love the extra added layers you did for this butterfly for your niece! Just gorgeous! Really like the vibrant pink “wash” of color that you did over the black!
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you. I found it and another one that has sheets vs. a roll. :-) www.amazon.com/dp/B08R42GRYW/?coliid=I5S99DQZ2FODO&colid=2XIW2245W8SQN&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I'm not that great at outlining to be honest. I've tried, but I need more practice before I blab about it on the internet 😂You know who's great at that? Look up Rachel's Rocks here on RU-vid. She's awesome at outlining. 💞
TY for this downloadable pdf. It is so much more than I expected and a great bargain for the cost. I am a beginner in this art form and I am truly looking forward to developing a style of my own. Happy I found you.
Hi Robin. I have a tripod for the overhead shots and an iPhone clip holder for the close ups. Both I got from Amazon 😊 Are you going to start a dotting channel?
This is such an amazing video... thankyou so much for sharing your fabulous techniques & words of wisdom! You are such an inspiration & pleasure to learn from! 🦋💕🌿🌺🐝
