Part 67
Its the end :(
Final video. Dotty went to BD Engineering for a tune up and emissions. Sounds lovely.
Did some random chat at the end and some drive by videos with my mate. Also did some interior shots when driving, but it shows my vile covid lank hair which i can confirm has all been cut off and i look normal again.
Hope you enjoyed the videos.
Bye
James

Hi there, started watching your videos whilst recovering from shoulder surgery. Just want to say great skills and thank you for sharing. Always loved the SD1. Well done for saving a car which otherwise would have gone to the crusher and getting her back on the road where the previous owner would have loved to get her to. Thanks for sharing.

I can still recall that in my youth neglected examples of these beautiful cars were commonplace and hence as 'cheap as chips' for those brave enough to take the plunge. I've often regretted not doing just that, but I was back then very much a Ford boy and a V6 Granada seemed a better bet. Its too late for me now of course, but it is great to see another of these 70's icons brought back to life and what a magnificent bloody effort this superb restoration is from all concerned. You have my congratulations and not a little envy - now all that's left to do is to get out there and enjoy her.

I had a Rover SD1 V8S, the same colour and trim as that in the 80s. Good job I was a mechanic because every weekend, I had to work on it. I even drove it to Germany where I lived for a couple of years. It was the fastest piece of rust on the autobahn!!!!!! But so comfortable.

Worked in a British Leyland garage in the Medway Towns. We had an International company that ran a fleet of cars among them was a 1980 Metallic Green SD1 V8. it was known within that company as Kermit. The Senior Manager that drove it kept it well past the time it was supposed to be replaced . Great to see that these cars are being restored. Great job.

Had a manual V8S one of these in exactly the same colour back in the mid 80's (XRV 222V) Absolutely loved it, and sold it to my Dad to replace his 2.6S. Sadly he traded it in while I was deployed abroad in '92 and never saw it again. Even with a piper cam and re-needled carbs, it wasn't that fast. Our replacement family car was a Colt Lancer 2000 turbo and it absolutely whipped the Rover for performance.

James, I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey, turning Dotty from a sow's ear into a silk purse. You have done a wonderful job in restoring her to probably better than when she left the factory. Very well done! I am extremely jealous of the lucky new owner. I'd love to have her as my daily transport to and from the former British Leyland data centre where I work. Fair play for sticking at it, can't be too many who would actually make the full distance! Sounds great, no lobeless cam in there!

What a fabulous car. These, even the 2600, let alone the V8-S that this now looks like, were very expensive cars to own & run back in the day. Most people had 1300 Escorts or Austin Allegro/Morris Marinas.
