I know well, I study cosmetologie In Germany and work in a wax salon, my coworker say that touching the wood stick touching an other plastic stick is safe. I do the possible to be clean, but than my boss told I was spending a lot of wood sticks.😥😥

My waxing lady is also double dipping, but I know that she is required by law to throw away the rest of the wax she has in the pot. Thats why she has a much much smaller pot than seen above. Also she uses it "only" 2-3 times and does no double dipping in the private area. Afterwards she goes over my skin with a desinfectant. Never had any problems and as she is required to boil the wax for every session and throw the rest away after each session her way is okay for me. I get perfect service even now with the total crazy restrictions due to the corona virus and as said never had any problems with infections. By the way: talking about germany too

That's not at all what "basic science" tells us. 140 F is about the hottest any bacteria can survive in with the majority of bacteria rendered unable to reproduce at just 102 F. That's why we get fevers when we're sick. Our bodies are defending against the infection. With wax, anything below 165 F has no danger of burning the skin, which gives you a 25 degree temperature window where virtually no bacteria can survive. And I only use the word virtually since even chemical disinfectants can only legally claim 99.9% effectiveness. Even at 125 F, the lowest temperature hard wax usually melts at, some bacteria might be able to live, but they would not be able to reproduce and therefore exist in such small quantities that they'd be harmless. To answer the "why would you not double dip on underarms and pubic areas???" question, it's the same reason as you won't double dip any part of the body. It's "icky." It's not because it's dangerous. It's because she has a different threshold for what grosses her out, even if it's not based in science at all. The overall answer is if it makes your stomach turn to double dip, don't double dip because it probably makes your clients' stomachs turn as well. But also realize that such a reaction is not based on fact. Just assumptions and lack of knowledge.

I guess I'll also explain your misconceptions with boiling. Think of it like this. A human being could not live in an environment that was 140 F, but exposing a human to that temperature for a short period won't instantly kill them. It's the same with bacteria. That's why simply washing your hands with 140 F water won't kill all the bacteria on your skin. However, a pot of wax that spends hours at a time at 140 F would kill them the same as any human who tried to live at that temperature. Boiling water is hot enough that it INSTANTLY kills bacteria. It is not the minimum temperature necessary to kill bacteria.

In general I wouldn't do it. Just not a good habit to get into, even if it's just on yourself!

The worry comes from any bacteria that you may have on your skin. If you get a break in the skin, it allows for bacteria to get in ad grow. I just did a presentation on above knee amputation and in doing the research, I found a medical report out of Australia of a lady that contracted necrotizing fasciitis so called flesh eating disease. You can have it on your skin, but it won’t hurt you unless it can get inside. If you want nightmares, look that up.

You can probably get something plastic and just clean them up at the end but that might take too long for some people especially taking the wax off then disinfecting them. My sister cuts them in half to save more and not use as much

You don't, you should only use one cartridge per client. You can't use it on another client.

Do you think using the metal spatula to double dip on the same client is still the same as double dipping with wooden stick since it's still touching the skin? With the metal spatula you would be double dipping throughout the service of 1 individual and then disinfecting it before using it again in another client... but wondering if you thought this was just as unsanitary as using the wood or what the difference is?

Personally I still wouldn't double dip.

Omg same. I've been waxing myself for years. Every so often I get a breakout but I figured it was me touching my eyebrows or legs too much after waxing. Low & behold I was contaminating my own pot!

You can get silicone inserts, with helps with clear up, but as long as the wax and stick are being binned after each sesh you shouldn’t have a problem 😊

Change stick every time you apply. However you can get silicon pots so if you only heat up enough for that session, you can use the same stick and then pop out the waste wax and stick xx

Fairy dust. Someone made that up, fyi. No. just no. we're on same page with that! I guess girls are just lazy or trying to "stir up" (no pun intended) controversy/chatter to even consider double dipping. Even if it weren't about cleanliness, why? I don't get it.

I bet they're talking about Nufree. They used to say it was ok to double dip because it is antimicrobial. I think they have changed their stance on that now but I'm not totally sure.

Put it on in the direction it grows and pull it off against it. Example if you put wax going down take it off going up and vice-versa

you cant wash the wax off so tossing them is the only option.

Of course, but as she explains wax adheres to wax better than to wood.. so you will actually waste more wax.
