Excellent video on these two doubles. I always spend a lot of time observing these two. I use a 12" sct and it does a good job. I'd like to start to get some photos but don't want to get too into it if you know what I mean? Just some pictures for the record to show the wife and kids!
paulkazjack Thanks. Yes AP is another slippery slope! In a way I feel the same about endless post processing. I prefer to get the data and produce a picture I like quickly (my family smile politely) rather than spending days in Photoshop. Still, a few planetary videos would be very tempting if I had your scope! Graham
Excellent video, thanks. I have an older C90 (the "armored" spotting scope version w/ 45 deg diagonal). I'd like to use it for astrophotography. I have the "T-Adapter -C90" that actually works (tight to back of scope) but I can't figure out how to use eyepieces and/or barlows with this set-up. I'm sure I'm missing some pieces. I watched your video about resolving the double stars (excellent) but you skipped over how to set up the connection between camera and scope. Any suggestions? Thanks again, your videos are very useful to us beginners. SUBSCRIBED.
rentacow Hello. I would say that the colour rendition may be a bit off as visually these stars are more white than blue to my eye. My camera has been modded, and and in addition I often use a CLS filter. Between them the colour gets skewed. In a wider field image the only options I can suggest are to find a star that is truly white and then use white balance correction in postprocessing for example in photo shop or paint shop you can usually select an object you consider to be white and it will adjust the balance of the field, alternatively you can use a grey card with your particular camera and filter set up to create a custom white balance. the video is more about showing the capability of the telescope so hands up the colour may be bluer than it should be! Clear skies, Graham
Hi Jenham: hope you don't mind: we've used your final image in our website article about Epsilon Larae, and linked your video. www.whitby-astronomers.com/sky-notes/crossing-line-objects-month-5
