• Four Hour Covers
As some of you already know, I have a full time job as a crane technician at a steel mill, and as a result, I don’t have a lot of spare time. For a while now, I’ve been recording cover songs (averaging about one a day) in the evenings after work. All of these are done in four hours or less, with a couple exceptions. This is the time from sitting down at the computer to listen to the original, to compiling the mastered audio file. Some of these covers are pretty close to the original, but most are re-imagined, often across genres. Things are getting transformed into blues, bluegrass, folk, reggae, funk, metal, and anything else I’m feeling brave enough to try. I make an effort to get everything in one take, although occasionally I take a couple of runs at something, and even do a little overdubbing, if I screw the pooch badly enough and it’s getting late. Usually, I just leave the mistakes in for flavor. All the solos are improvised on the spot, again, usually on the first take. This explains a lot of my facial expressions, as I can’t recall ever being completely satisfied with my improv. Lol.

I’ll also be adding some previously recorded songs to this list daily, as long as they fit the 4 hour criteria above. This started as an experiment, but I’ve been having so much fun with it, I wanted to include you. I’ll keep everyone updated on changes as they happen since I’m making this up as I go. Also, I’ll eventually be selling the audio files as downloads, as soon as I get the licensing and royalty process worked out.
