Yes!! We find that it helps with a couple things. First, your install tends to be less bulky on the braid area and will lay a bit more relaxed. And second, its easier to find your mid section, so you never end up with one or two really long tails from missing your center. ;) They are pretty great!

You absolutely could. You might find that it is not as comfortable and that more of your natural hair will show through, but it would be worth a try if you think it might be beneficial! :)

Its the same as without it, but I would do the top as one section and your back and side as part two. :)

Yes! Check out the troubleshooting video here: www.doctoredlocks.com/ded-slippage/ I bet its the angle you are coming off of the head at and the direction of your braid. Its harder to translate on your own head, what you naturally do for others in front of you. :) Let me know if that helps. You can absolutely install that kind of hair with this method. Just make sure you have enough braid turns to create a stable base. :)

You can close it with rubber bands for sure! Double dreads have two tails, where single dreads have one tail (and a loop at the top). Its a slightly different installation method. :)

They are really similar for beginners - its more of a matter of what you want them to look like. I tend to like DE dreads best as they tend to be more full and only one side has the braid, but other people really love SE because its a smaller section size and they feel like that looks best to them. :)

Are you referring to the twist in the dreadlocks or are you installing curly dreads? Either way the answer is yes, just need to know which way to direct you. :)

Nope! The only way these can damage your hair is if they are too heavy or you braid them in too tightly - both of which would pull at your roots. Just be mindful of that when you install and they can actually be very restorative for your hair because it gives you a rest from daily styling and will help you grow out styles that you don't like. :)

It works the same. Just braid over the dreaded portion in the middle. :)

It's very tricky to self install. Getting a friend to help will make it easier.

All synth dread installations last as long as the grow out looks good - which they usually need to be redone at about a month and a half. :) I usually just use the same sectioning and comb them out and redo them one at a time if I'm just refreshing them. That way you never have to be without them. :)

Usually the issue has less to do with how fine the hair is, and more the angle of how you are braiding. Sounds like you bought the premade dreads. These are twisted hair pieces and there are many people that install these without resealing. However, there are many people that buy them because they are inexpensive (under $7 per 10) specifically to alter them. It sounds like you would be happier if you installed the backcombed dreads - these are super durable and don't need to be resealed - they are, however, $22 per pack, not $7.
