lol, im reading the comments. Good on you for "knot" editing your video. and showing your mistakes. my greatest teacher was named mistake. For the genius that said "I wanted to know how to tie 2 knots together". Simply cut the rope in 1/2 and follow this kids procedure. Then again what would I know, considering I hold a career that 99.9% of the Country couldnt make a day through.

This is actually a triple fisherman's knot because you've added the extra loop to make it stronger. The double fisherman's knot is more popular with climbers because it is plenty strong and isn't as difficult to undo. Once loaded, the triple fisherman's knot is a real bear to untie.

What you tied is a TRIPLE fisherman's knot. A double fisherman's knot has two wraps on either side while a triple has three. It's purely semantics, but it is important to know there is a difference.

After a little practice, per his restarts: side 1: start loop over the top. side 2: start loop from under. Or vice versa. They just need to be opposite.

A single is very good as a stop knot as a figure of eight unties in the sort of rope he is using . A reef knot also comes loose in this sort of rope

Just a thought. Maybe you should consider actually practicing the knot until you can tie it properly the first time, before you make a video demonstration on how to tie it.

I struggled with this knot for a while. I saw one guy on RU-vid tie this knot wrong in the same way, but he didn't admit it and start again, he clipped the video so you barely got a glimpse of the wrongly finished knot!

Tie the first knot what comes most naturally to you. Get used to tying it that way. Then start practicing loops. Tie the first knot, then flip the entire loop over and the opposite knot gets tied exactly the same, which is opposite the first knot. This method only requires becoming proficient at the knot, the the direction is irrelevant.

I was doing it right, and then noticed you were doing it opposite, so I switched, and then you realized you were doing it wrong. ಠ_ಠ

your little mistake on the direction s possibly the single most important part of the tut. Knots tied incorrectly have been proven to have a final strength of as low as 30% compared to the same knot tied correctly :)

A double fisherman's knot would only be needed when tying mono filament, any braided or wound rope will never slip with a regular fisherman's knot.....But i am sure for your tutorial your rope choice would be easier to see and understand....Nice job !

confusing that you tied the same rope to itself .. I want to tie two ropes together .. not one rope to itself
