Steam was at it's finest yesterday as Ww's 644 & 480 are seen double heading a long, 9 car empty consist between Victoria Avenue, Waiuku and Glenbrook on the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, on Friday 27 May 2022.
Ww 480 was in use throughout the day for the two-week long KiwiRail Steam Fireman School. This school was undertaken to train four KiwiRail Locomotive engineers for their Fireman's certification, in order to become certified to crew on the National Rail Network for Heritage Operators.
Ww 644 was in steam for more testing, as she prepares to enter service.
Towards the end of the day, it was decided to increase the consist, and put both locos to the test, and the rest is history.
