its telling how the king disregards all his new acolytes, even his own fortress… he was so obsessed with the superficial allure of greater power, he never appreciated the power he already had
It's so funny how the Double King insists on committing some violence when he takes a crown, even if it's completely unnecessary. Like smacking the beached fish-king with his scepter or punching the unmoving mountain-king with his fortress-mech.
A key part of the story that really sticks out to me: He murders a bug for it’s crown, fits it on his finger and later chopped his own finger off thinking it’s another creature with a crown. Blinded by greed, he killed himself because of it.
Gabe Itch Ironic how he actually fumbled through some of those doorways when he has the crown on. Like when the rat assassins comes and he checks Them out from above.
Just to let you know, the rats were the rat king’s followers/people so when they bowed down to the double king, they were showing that he was now their king
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
5:51 Absolutely in LOVE with that visually spectacular panoramic parallax effect with the nearby forestry in the foreground against the crown peaks in the distant background. Just stunning and glorious ❤
Austin Dial They are meant to represent what he would be like without his crown, just another cave dweller like the rest of us, also they serve to add to his paranoia by there always being something watching him waiting to take his crown. He threw himself into the void cause he didn’t care about the afterlife or making amends with the other kings he wronged he only cared about the crown and he had it so why stay in a place where someone might take it. It will be just him and his crown now.
They're all like "Oh ffs, does it even matter if he learns a lesson at this point? Just give him the thing so he shuts up and we can enjoy our eternal dinner party in peace."
The royal religious precession tune gave me crazy goose bumps. Such incredible sound design and music you’ve produced for this. Every single aspect of this piece is an awe inspiring masterpiece.. truly beautiful to behold.
I remember the first time I watched this I had a fever and fully thought I hallucinated this. I am so happy I found this a year later. It is just as unnerving and surreal and awesome as I remember.
i'm genuinely convinced at least half the dislikes are people bitter & jealous over the massive success of these animations smooth animation, lovely art style, wonderful key poses, very expressive. Overtly comical with a solid moral lesson, done with no words; it needs no translation. The two years of work it took are on full display every frame, it is a masterpiece. It should be in an animation museum. (edited to fix typo)
I like how it’s a modernized take on Richard Williams animation in Thief and the Cobbler with more abstract surrealism, a simple story about greed with no dialogue
This is art....this is something a man of talent and creation would make,as a animator myself i have never seen such ...such art ,am not joking,am serious
this is one of my absolute favorite animations of all time. every so often i need a boost of inspiration and i just come back and rewatch this one. genuine gold
O god, so many geniuses live on this earth. This anim really surprised me. I can't believe waht I'm watching, perfect pure genius art . Graphics and events are perfect, everything is perfect, it's one of those unforgettable masterpieces i will always remember.
It’s funny how the last time that the double king kept running to get the devils crown then he punched him in the eye and the devil was like nope mortal and grabbed him and the double king made a funny squeak sound it made me laugh even though I’ve watched it like a million times
I love the fact that he spent a lifetime stealing crowns, eventually got over the fact that maybe he can't have every single crown he sees, only to lose his shit when his little paper crown got taken away.
He doesn't even want power. He doesn't care about ruling things, or enjoying a life of luxury, or controlling the laws and people of a nation - he just wants to _be the king._
The first time I watched this, I was 7, and I was so amazed by how smooth it was and how brutal. The fact that this was made by one person is amazing XD
The names of the Kings/Queens are “The (Double) King” Ratking Agustus the agreeable, Queen Daisy VII, Stratomonarchus, Lady Gertrude of Squash, Lord of the Flies, Harg the Serpent Queen, King Ronald the moist, King Aldo and Queen Aldine of the Glade, Olov the Mountain King, Durt the Elder, a cockatoo (not royal,) and Agatha, Matriarch of Death.
@@underpussy_just put it on top of the two crowns and move it up everytime you conquest more crowns lol, I was mentally screaming for him to just put it on top as normal
I'm just now discovering some of the works of Richard Williams, and I'm seeing a ton of the influence that this animation must have drawn from him. Incredible stuff
@@malakhussein3506 Ur right, maybe she didnt want them that much as him, but maybe if she wouldnt take his napkin crown, snake wouldnt get the fork stabbed again xd
Most of them are queen tho it said all their name in the credit and the title of most of the snake are queen the pumpkin is a lady the skelaton is a queen
I noticed how everyone at the feast of the dead did not have a crown, except for death. And then Death gave the crown away so he could keep having a party. I bet the crown for him didn't really matter to hi. as much as it did for the double king
