I agree damon, I personally think the lawn looked amazing in the very first video on this channel but appreciate the extra effort taken into maintaining the now lower cut lawn :-) oh and wall flowers are good long flowering perennials as a suggestion.

Lawn looks great. I’d go for Cosmos, Dahlias and some Salvia for the sunny spots.

Have a garden 15m x 15m approx. If I wanted to re-turf, how much top soil would I need and would I still need to feed/weed? If over seeding and using grass seed, how much top soil then? About 5 mil deep? Really need help here. Feed and weed, or re-turf with a high quality turf? Thanks.

looking great Matt. I would suggest some hardy perrenials. Needs some colour. lupins, delphiniums,pestemons. would really enhance your border. Keep up there good work

Looks good man! Mine was growing mushrooms the other day! Was flooded for a few weeks. Any advice on hardy seeds that creep? I'm trying to renovate the pavement lawn bit with my neighbour - council can't be bothered to trim it properly so it needs sprucing up

@@stevea3200 Cheers. I've got some creeping red fescue seed mix. I put some down so hopefully it'll take but I don't really want to use too much. Realistically the whole thing needs killing off and reseeding. My neighbours came out and thanked me just for cleaning it up - which was nice to hear!

I've just seeded a new lawn and can see some tiny plants sprouted. Pretty sure they're weeds so should I pick what I can and then just hope the lawn out competes them? Or is there a product I can use ?

Yes pull them and regular mowing can keep young weeds in check

Hi Matt, smashing stripes. On a different subject, this Sept would it be OK 2do 3inch core aeration then just overseed and fertilise with no top dressing? Many thanks.... jj

Yes the aeration will help, though covering can improve the overall soil health if using something like compost or peat moss and aid with water retention. If you need any help with seed checkout my site 👍

Hi there. I’m wanting to renovate a very mossy lawn, I realise that now is a good time to scarify and over-seed. The lawn is surrounded by trees which are starting to drop leaves. Is it worth overseeing now before the fall really kicks in or leave it until the spring? Thanks in advance

Looking great Matt. I have recently bought the Allett 43 and on its highest cut it seems to be taking it too low. Not sure how to sort it out. The highest cut is 32 mm. Like the double stripes but I don't know how to do it.

Hi Stephen I'll be doing some videos on stripe tutorials soon! If you think it's too high because the grass isn't used to it, do one cut on the setting below so it's even lower and then after maintain at 32mm. This will help train the grass short

Hi Steve, I bought the Allett recently and started to use it about one month ago. I also have a Hayter 41. The allett seems to be scorching it as it is cutting lower than the Hayter. I've used it on its highest cut number 4. I did a lawn renovation in Spring and used the All American dark green lawn seed which Matt has also used, and also put fertilizer on 10+4+4 + 3.5 fe. I think it may need levelling as well not quite sure how to tackle that, but I just need to have more confidence with the Allett as I am struggling with it at the moment. Its six bladed cassette. I think its also got some red thread as there are yellow patches.Thank you so much for your advice Steve@@stevea3200

I am sure the Allett will be fine once I have the confidence with it and thanks for the advice with levelling.I have got a lute but don't want to spoil the grass as only just reseeded springtime. Will it be ok to level in next few weeks as putting compost on it will spoil the appearance. Thanks again Steve

@@GardenLawncareGuy Hi Matt. I've ordered the American mix from you and some fertiliser. I've found the top mix you reccomended in 50kg bags. I've ordered 10 of them. So: With the 4 in 1 now down is it? Wait for 3 weeks. Cut low Scarify Aireate Fertiliser Seed Top soil max of 10mm Water??? Cheers

Recently fitted pop up sprinklers in my lawn and it now needs re leveling , can I do this now or is it best to wait till spring, it will need a fair bit of re leveling as the soil was wet , and I will need to re seed

If soft clay I'd go for that or the pitch perfect mix which is all rye grass. The clay king wants to be kept a little longer in length and is slightly thicker leaved but will fare best in clay soils

Have to disagree about your shrubs being overgrown they were just coming into there prime you have lost the natural look and now they look too manicured.Just my opinion hope you’re not offended.Grass looks great though.

Not atall, its more I had an idea in my mind about putting smaller flowers up front and there was no space to do it with them like that. Plus I do like geometric shapes over natural ones but I can see what you mean
