Double Lids to Mono Lids Makeup Tutorial (+ BTS RM demo) 

*Don't* use it *daily* to "look Asian" if you're not - that's weird and makes Asians uncomfortable. Doing this isn't going to make you Asian, it's just going to make you look unappreciative of your own heritage and give people the impression that you're a kboo This is *only* for cosplay purposes for the sake of accuracy! When you're cosplaying, you're not claiming those features as your own - there is a separation between your real self and the person you're trying to imitate. And that's okay because you're not trying to lie to yourself and others about who you are. Let's just be true to ourselves and others. Please don't attack me, I'm simply stating my opinion. While my father is Japanese, I have very prominent double eyelids. I may seem like I'm not entitled in any way to state my opinion but I'm going to anyway. I honestly don't see anything wrong with a Caucasian doing this to their eyes. While some say it's yellowfacing or racist, you may have to take another look at the definitions of such words. Technically, for most, it wouldn't be fetishization either. By definition, none of those words match the true intention of this video or the people doing what's taught in this video. Just like asians may have double eyelid surgery, caucasians can want monolids. Anyone familiar with facial structures will tell you it's possible for people of races other than asians to have monolids, just like it's possible for asians to have double eyelids. No, this isn't a joke but it's definitely not blatant racism or fetishization. What people do with their body is their choice, and they aren't deserving to be ridiculed for it. I understand how you may feel uncomfortable with someone "making a fetish of" your eyes after you've been bullied or such for it. Either way, education on such things would be vital in the case you freaking out on someone for taking an "only Asian" feature.

Eastern people using tape to get double eyelids, Western people using tape to get monolids. Man, the grass really is always greener on the other side.

Damn I saw a lot of ignorant comments saying it's yellowface if a non-Asian makes their eyes monolidded. Sorry to burst the bubbles, but there's something called context and it matters. If a non-Asian finds monolids attractive so they do this, it's okay. It's only offensive if they make their eyes monolidded because "all Asians have them" and if they want to become Asian. Again, context matters. This is coming from an Asian with naturally monolidded eyes. Just because someone changes their eyelids doesn't mean they're trying to change their race. There's double eyelid glue and tape which are popular in Japan and South Korea. It's not created so that Asians with monolids can become white because not all Asians have monolids. Both eyelids are just as common in East and Southeast Asia. I use double eyelid glue because I have uneven monolidded eyelids and double eyelids look cool. I mean I love the eyelids I was born with but I find both types of eyelids attractive. Lots of us just find double eyelids attractive just like how lots of white people find tanned skin attractive which is why tanning is popular in the West. If an Asian dyes their hair blonde, it doesn't mean they're trying to become white. They just want to be Asian with blonde hair. If a white person gets a tan, it doesn't mean they're trying to become black, Latino, Arabian, or Polynesian. They just want to be white with tanned skin. If a black person gets hair extensions, it doesn't mean they're trying to become white, Asian, Latino, etc. They just want to be black with a different type of hair. People really need to stop using the race card.

People that say it's wrong to do this. How about you all go preach the same thing to those that use techniques and even do cosmetic surgery to have double-eye lid also? You don't know why someone might be using this for, maybe it's for cosplay, maybe it's cause they find they look prettier with monolids (or generally prefer monolid eyes), maybe they are indeed a crazy weirdo that just wants to do it cause oppa has monolids (which then yes it's so wrong). You can't though be too quick to judge. And you can't just judge one side of the same coin.

I know we are supposed to love ourselves but monolids are so dreamy. Having double eyelids is a hassel for me everyday. Overall this was beautifully wonderful to watch.

I don't understand my eyeshape AT ALL they are rounded, big BUT I do have two eyelids but I also have signs of hooded eyes. THEN It kind of looks like I have 3 eyelids and it's just weird. Also when I close my eyes I can see 3 NOT 2 BUT 3 wrinkles on them which means that I really somehow have 3 eyelids. And when I stretch my eyebrows up they become almond like. WTF

Thank you. I am Vietnamese and I have a monolid on one eye and my other eyelid is lopsided due to scarring. Using eyelid tape to "correct" my eye really helps with my self esteem. I agree with you about respect and a lot of people judge me about using eyelid tape because they think that I'm trying to look "more Asian". I know this video was posted quite a while ago, but thank you for your help.

I don’t see a problem. People don’t do this to make fun of a race. It’s just makeup to look like someone else for cosplay. I have felt racism before and this is not it. For example there is a difference between a Chinese language student who tries to speak Chinese to me, vs some random guy on the street saying “ni Hao” then laugh.

Some people think that monolids only exist in Asian culture, well it's not because my niece has monolids but her parents are both not Asian and same for some other family members of mine.

As a Korean girl,I know people are obsessed with double eyelids. I have parallel double eyelids myself naturally. people get plastic surgery to get double lids from monolids. Which is totally okay. But honestly speaking pretending to be Asian when you don't even belong to Asia in general makes people uncomfortable and it's no joke. It's okay to wear makeup! But if you're a non-asian with double eyelids and be happy with those. People here get surgery for those and you have then naturally so please love them and also everyone wants what they don't have so it's completely your choice. 🙏🏻 I respect your choice

1 or 2 years ago i had one monoeyelid and double eyelid. I was born as a double eyelid but i had a problem with one eye and it lost its grip. But now without doing surgery i tried to do overnight eyelid glue etc and it got back to normal👍 over night glue works good 😊 also the pic looks so cool, you look like suga or RM

If youre not asian dont try to make ur eyes "asian " wtf why does this need to be said . You can cosplay an asian character with out doing yellow face. If you wanted to cosplay a black character you wouldnt paint ur body black, draw on big lips and throw on an afro. So why is it with asian characters or asian ppl, you have to mimic a feature that historically has been mocked by non asians like wtf .

I honestly don't see the point in this comment section, she clearly stated in the description that this tutorial is for cosplay. The amount of immaturity with some people. Having double lids is beautiful. Having monolids is also beautiful. I do a lot of cosplay and use this method aswell. People forget that monolids aren't strictly an asian thing; Europeans can have them. Native Americans tend to have monolids as well; my mother is practically pure Puerto Rican and yet she has monolids. I'm half of both(my grandma straight off of a reservation), though and don't have the monolid despite both of my parents and brother having it. How dare I want to fit in with my family, huh? People need to learn the difference between racism, cultural appropriation, and the fact that people contain the ability to find something outside of what they've been told to like, or that they have to, beautiful.

Don't need to blame anyone for wanting monolid. I myself have monolid even if i am caucasian and my parents are white as well. My grandpa has asian genes so thats why. My eyes look small compare to the face but i find this nice. The most important thing is to love and accept yourself for who you are!

I would only use this if I were to dress up as one of them. I am thinking about doing it this year but even then, it can still make others take it the wrong way. Personally, I like any eyelids whether it is mono, tapered, or double. Edit: Your eyes are really pretty. I for some reason like really dark eyes XD

My eye shape changes drastically all the time. If i squeeze my eyes when i smile, my double lid gets stuck into a monolid, and i have to stretch my eye sockets vertically to get them to be double lid again. Even when i wake up, i find myself with the monolid. I'm not even sure if i naturally have a monolid or not, because it just keeps changing.
