Well those are not Asian monolids, those are hooded European eyes. Monolids have an epicanthic fold and she has no epicanthic fold. My eyes are exactly like hers and yes they are a PAIN to work with but now I have kind of mastered them a bit. I used to be so self conscious about it but now I cherish them☺️ Maybe they could be called monolids because of the absence of a crease but technically they aren’t in the strict antrophological sense😁
I totally know what you mean and I was trying to explain that in the video. The reason I call such eyes monolid is because the way you apply makeup on them is the same as Asian girls use.
But she does have a fold or a crease? I thought monolids just go straight from lash line to browbone without folding in between. There are a lot of videos showing how monolids can get a "double eyelid" which looks quite like this model's.
Edit: Okay, I see what they're trying to promote: hooded is a feature and monolid is a shape. I don't agree. The whole reason to why it's called a monolid is because there is no crease, it's flat, and it hides the lashline. Even if you have hooded eyes, you still have that crease/fold/whatever you want to call that double eyelid feature like she does. Monolids, themselves, come in all different shapes. You can have almond eyes with monolids or round eyes with monolids. It's all different. I think monolids and double eyelids are features, not shapes. Conclusion, she does not have monolids and let's not market it that way because us, monolids, have a tough time finding products already. If people start believing these are monolids, products won't get any easier for us.
Well... I don't agree. Monolids have a crease but it is hidden. I said that the girl in my video doesn't promote monolid eyes, but the theory still stays.
Those aren’t monolid, as they have no epicanthic fold. Monolid eyes, mine included, have no visible crease in a normal eye position, and a fold that meets the corner of the eye.
I call this a deep set eye with a hooded eye lid. Monolids I've worked on don't have that fold there, it's close to the lashes in the centre? I use lid tape to create the fold across the entire eyelid.
Yes, the girl I used for the video has deep set eyes which in a couple of years will look like a monolid. The reason I say monolid, even though the eyes can be or protruding, or deep set, is because of the makeup technique you use on such eyes. Makeup technique for deep set eyes just wouldn’t look good on the model in the video, because she hardly has any lid space.
@@AdviseMyStyle "in a couple of years will look like a monolid" so she's not a monolid. how about using someone who has a monolid currently for your monolid eyes video
@@AdviseMyStyle yes I saw that one but would love more ..its such a difficult eye shape that I feel is never represented...its always hooded eyes...which is great too but this is better Ciao Ciao xxoo
That is not monolid.. asian eyes usually have folds on the inner eye and we have lots of fats on the lids which is why our crease (if there is any) are less visible.
You don't have monolids if you have that fold/crease (monolids are flat, Google it). She has double eyelids with deep set eyes that make it seem like she has hooded.
I have this eye shape, so does my mother. Hers started like this but now genuinely looks like a monolid though not as 'tight' as asian monolids, the crease is almost entirely hidden/gone. It actually causes her discomfort because it pushes her eyelids down but its not severe enough to be worked on as anything more than cosmetic :(
I’ve been trying to figure out my eyeshape, at first I thought maybe I had hooded eyes but. The part that folds over like a hood for hooded eyes is what I don’t have... I have very sharp eyes though when I open my eyes as wide as I can is when my eye crease seems most prominent. The crease starts from the inner point of my eye and ends were my eyelash end. The closes image I can describe to it is when someone has double eyelid surgery. That’s what my eyes look like naturally. And I’m Hispanic.
Ok I actually read you’re full comment and yeah it’s probably just hooded eyes. Monolids are something that really only happens among some African and north indigenous tribes( specifically Inuit) or of course Asians. Im not trying to be rude but it could just be an epicanthic fold.
@@goldenfjork958 no no, thank you.. don’t worry. I totally understand what your saying. It makes sense as my great grandmother was Indian herself. A lot of Hispanics become confused by their racial background as the term 'Hispanic' can seen as more of a ethnic group rather than a race. We’re all mixed up here heh🧍🏻♀️
I think my eyes may be deep set but i have a double crease, almost even a triple, and even if my eyes are closed i have a very defined crease still, as defined as other peoples are with their eyes are open. I have no idea how to apply makeup on my eyes bc of this reason, i have a decent amount of lid space but theres just a giant crease in the way :-(
shouma I have a very deep crease too! The line is still visible even with my eyes closed, and the skin folds into itself further when I open my eyes. Eyeshadow always gets rubbed off along the fold even with eyeshadow primer, probably because of the skin-to-skin friction. But I have bulging eyes, not deep set like yours.
I was shocked after this i discovered that i have both eyes one monolide and the other is double i thought that my eyes like have a problem or something in my skin
I have two uneven eyes. Right eye looks more of the hooded and almond shaped where as my left eye looks monolid😑 Edit: i am a mixture of two different races of nepal🇳🇵indo aryan and mongolian.
I believe that there's 3 aspects to the eye, eye shape, lid type and position. So you can have a deep set eye with a hooded lid that is almond shaped for instance.
@@AdviseMyStyle I was always so confused at makeup school when the teacher said one aspect was the eye shape... so had to create my own descriptions. 😂😂😂
im part asian. monolids are monolids because of the epicanthic folds which start at the inner corners and almost cause a webbing across the lids. if you push the epicanthic fold up a little, there are normal eyelids underneath. but the epicanthic folds make them the shape that they are. and a thin layer of fat in the epicanthic folds and underneath the eyes as well, westerners don't have it. that's why if an asian person looks down, it shows what's underneath the epicanthic folds
so this isn't what monolids are. the makeup wouldn't be applied the same way either. there isn't a fully smooth surface to apply it on this girl. it would be normal almond shaped eyes, you should change the title to almond eyes because that's what hers are. if asians tried this makeup look, it wouldn't work
Look at you! Ph.D. in Monolids. 🥳 I call it a monolid, because the same makeup technique can be applied on similar eyes. I had to group the techniques somehow. Which leads me to the last thing which is ... Almond is not an eye shape!
@@iluvhoney710 You know, it's really weird having eyes that are both Asian and deepset at the same time. My crush asks me all the time if I'm tired lol
Sorry ... I used to do this, but it took way too much time. However ... I was thinking to do this on a bigger scale so that at least 100 people send me a photo of their eye. :)
@AdviseMyStyle I understand that individual sessions took much of your time, but if can send you an image, please provide an email address... When you are ready.
Do you not know what a monolid is? Search it up! It’s when your eyelid doesn’t have a crease at ALL. It’s is impossible for whites people to have monolids (unless they’re mixed of course). Please don’t mix up monolid with hooded eyes, I find it a bit frustrating since my family mostly had REAL monolids
Beeellllaaaa!!! I have so many things going on in my life. But now I finally figured out how to set up the website so that I will be able to give free and premium personalised makeup advice. 😉
@@AdviseMyStyle no, stop. I have monolids and that's just bs, these are hooded eyes, it doesn't matter what you want to call them, because that's what they are, there's a very defined crease. Sorry but this is exclusively an asian feature, and teaching asians about their own ethnic features is just straight up stupid
