A former Yakima police officer who police say killed two people and abducted his 1-year-old son in the state of Washington shot himself to death just north of Eugene on Tuesday after a police pursuit, according to authorities.
His son was taken safely into state custody.
Authorities in West Richland, Washington issued an Amber Alert late Monday night as they searched for 39-year-old Elias Huizar and his son. Oregon State Police followed with its own Amber Alert about an hour later.
The alerts indicated Huizar was taking his son to Mexico.
