I stayed here a few seasons in the early 80s...camped under the overhang at the Bingin end of the beach, then eventually migrated to stay with a family about 10 minutes back from the cliff...before Tommy Suharto razed the district and removed all the locals. You could walk along this beach, totally deserted. Every time we'd surf the point, "Wayan" and "Ketut" would race down from the Kuta end of the beach, paddle out on old beaten-up board left by earlier pioneers, and proceed to hog the inside and take all the waves lol. Moonlit nights we'd go fishing the other side of the point with the local kids led by Made Subenah...where are you now, beli?? there's a name inscribed in the overhang: Suderni...ahhh, the memories, where I learned my first Indonesian word, bagus.
That's Widi, he is a Nias local , so understandable if you grow up in 30 Celsius degree water , 27 will be chilly, specially with the storng offshore!😃
Sooo true. At 2:00 there's the guy with black and white shorts. He gets quite a few waves in the video - Just not sure if he's a fearless newcomer to the sport. Or experienced with ZERO style....
