Doing the double push is a complex movement. One of the idea behind it is to maintain your speed during the movement. In this video i explain you 3 points to focus that help you to generate or maintain speed. Joey Mantia and Nolan Beddiad or Felix Rijhnen or even Bart swing are expert in this now. Double push is a great technique to go fast and save energy and will help you to brake you record in next bmw berlin inline marathon.
If you haven't seen my first video about double push i suggest you go check my vlog 259.
thanks to @target _sports_analysis for the little graphic on one of the sequence or the free leg.

I wait a little longer just right before I land to create more pressure. Right at the 45 degree angle from my hip to my pushing ankle. That sets me up for a powerful under push. My rule is if I don’t feel acceleration in my Under push then am just “Double Rolling “ 😊

Thank you for the great video Pascal! I was wondering if you could perhaps make a video about double push in wet cobditions: should we make the push more vertical to have more grip, can we improve our general technique by practicing in wet conditions, how some pros don't seem to need wet condition wheels. The winter is coming back to Europe so all of this can very helpful, thank you!
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 4 года назад
F C not so easy to go in the wet in Toulouse :-) Im not sure we really do double push in the rain... we do under push a bit ...let me know about it :-)

great video Pascal-how high off ground should the free leg be during the recovery phase? Some Taiwanese skaters seem to keep it higher off the ground than most, while other skaters like yourself have a lower recovery height with the foot.
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 4 года назад
Dan Flanagan I like to keep it low as it fit my natural movement and help me to save energy but the faster you go the more roll to have... then you need to create a longer way for the free leg... then it’s good to bring it higher to make this way longer and get a timing that fit the speed
@RV-rv9nv
@RV-rv9nv 4 года назад
Hey Pascal, Your videos are great and helpful, thanks. I have a question about the wheels. I am a beginner and use 3 x 110 mm because 125 mm is to unstable for my ankles and level. What is your opinion about 3 vs 4 wheels? Is 3 wheels only better if combined with 125 mm?
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 4 года назад
Hi yes 4wheels would be way better then to feel the push ... no doubt about this
@jerryandersson1540
@jerryandersson1540 4 года назад
I've been really struggling with the double push. I could manage the under-push and regular push without a problem but the timing in transfering the body weight to maintain speed has been a sorry chapter. However at the end of the season I found the cure and thats what I think you are describing. To me it was all in the recovery leg. What I did was to point the recovery legs knee in to the ground as I rotated it in a very exaggerated way initially. It creates a natural tension and grip in your pushing leg and you can easily transfer your body for the next push and maintain speed with the help of that tension. Another advantage was that the hip of the recovery leg correctly lined up with the landing of the skate for the next push. One dry land exercise to get the feel for it is just to stand on the floor with slightly bent knees and do a recovery leg circle pointing your knee hard to the ground as you rotate. You will feel that tension build and your body and hip will move sideways in a very controlled and powerful way. Thank you Pascal for sharing!

Cool man, I’m gonna give what you said a go...I think my recovery leg action sucks atm even after doing recovery leg drills.
@jerryandersson1540
@jerryandersson1540 3 года назад
@@stevej.6674 Another thing I forgot to mention is at the same time (With recovery leg) point your toe just behind the skate of your pushing leg when you rotate.
@stevej.6674
@stevej.6674 3 года назад
Jerry Andersson I actually try to consciously “feel” myself do that motion, however I dare say that’s not happening....I’m gonna set up a cam to film my technique so I can see what I’m (probably not) doing. Like you, I know I can under push and of course regular push but at the moment I reckon my timing is all out & my recovery leg isn’t proper. So I’m keen to see if your knee towards the ground helps me get that pressure to the skate...and point my recovery leg toe behind as well as you mention. Hopefully I can get to 40 kph one of these days (without a hill).
@jerryandersson1540
@jerryandersson1540 3 года назад
@@stevej.6674 Of corse you will reach 40 kph. One thing that worked for me to sort the timing was actually to start the regular push a lot earlier, not just glide on the outer edge after the under push. The under push is much shorter than one think and pressure into the ground is lost very quick. Also, make sure you align your skate in the traveling direction at the same time.
@stevej.6674
@stevej.6674 3 года назад
Jerry Andersson Ok thanks, but I think/believe my underpush is relatively short 🤔. How would I work to shorten it?

So envy. My max speed on 3x125 is still 30 km/hr. because of my weight transfer is not efficient enough and my push of feet position is not correct. Despite my friend can go beyond 40 km/hr with ease on 4x110
@ThePascalbriand

may be 4x110 is better sometimes if you have problem to create grip on 125 then it doesnt become faster.
