Cheers actually looks back on Seventeen's journey : the "basement unit" they practiced in as trainees, the 2 pyeong (~70 sq feet) room they shared with 13 people and all the disparaging comments they received when the group was first announced ("how do you feed all of them", "too many people, they'll definitely fail", "they'll crash and burn", etc...). This song was them celebrating their success and how they proved all these people wrong. Edit : and I think World is definitely continuing their journey in Face The Sun. Their last album ended with Ash where they pledging to burn their old selves, be reborn as phoenixes and fly to a new world. And World is them welcoming us into this new world.

the song Cheers is actually about their career, especially the early days of their career and comparing it to how successful they are nowadays!! They literally started from a basement, they trained in this infamous green basement that fans call melona prison and obviously it was really hard for them at first because their company was quite literally going bankrupt while trying to debut this group with 13 members. A LOT of people said they wouldn’t succeed because they doubted their company could handle a group that big and also doubted they’d ever become successful because too many ppl would think they have “too many members”. And honestly most of svt’s success comes from the leaders + Seungkwan who worked so hard into making the music + choreos + trying their best to promote the group, and they succeeded. So this song is pretty much the leaders saying that they literally started from a tiny basement and had everything set up for them to fail but they STILL succeeded!!

when seventeen first started out, they were in a small company that was not doing well financially. they got a lot of criticism bc of how many members they had. people would often ask how the company could possibly afford to feed them all and were certain they were just another group that were doomed to fail within a year or two, which is unfortunately very common in kpop. there are probably over 100 groups that debut every year, but most are never heard of and disband quickly they also got a LOT of criticism for producing their own music, which was not at all common at the time. there were a few idols before them that were involved in music production, but they were either looked down on or seen as rare exceptions. people thought idols wouldn't or couldn't be good at producing music and should just stick to their own job. seventeen proved themselves by consistently releasing good music and got rid of a lot of the stigma around idol producers flash forward to today and seventeen are one of the top boy groups in kpop, praised for their self production, and the first kpop group with over 10 members and with foreign members to have all of their members resign their contract. all 13 have stayed together for the last 7 years since debut, which is no easy feat. i know you understood the general meaning of cheers, but i just wanted to give you some more detailed background on what they were talking about in the lyrics. loved you're reaction!

Actually they really build a building from basement. Pledis was bankrupt and really small company when they debuted. Their practice room when trainee-early debuted really small and its a basement of their company so, yeah that the meaning of the lyrics. It's seventeen that saved their company and even made them a new building.

What I love about Seventeen's music is the diversity yet keeping their signature Seventeen sound. I hope I am making sense. If you'll look back at their older songs. They've done pop rock, edm, musical vibe, jazzy vibe, ballad and of course hip-hop.

Their company was poor back in the day and a lot of their groups couldn't succeed and disbanded. Seventeen suffered a lot and they built their company with their success (they're also self-produced) and now HYBE bought Pledis and they have more budget.
