It helped a LOT that Daddy Luis ran a recording studio earlier. He got them the right tools and taught them how to use them. These days, he's still touring with them, along with Lalo Plaza, a sound mixer/engineer, Rudy Joffroy, their co-manager with Luis, and several other top notch techs. The Warning is a tremendous set of talents and skills and efforts. It's quite obviously a well-run team! The second version is an evolution of what The Warning and Alessia Cara did in a week or so - over the Internet during Covid lockdown - for the *Black List* album. The strings make it otherworldly!
At the time of their 2014 Enter Sandman performance (posted 7/7/2014) Dany and Pau had been playing for about 6 years. Even before this, Pau had been featured in the April edition of Tom Tom Mag. Ale however had been playing bass for 3 years at most. They were very serious about their desire to be musicians, and after the video went viral they (well, their parents) began to get offers from people in the music/entertainment industry. They turned down the proposals and remained independent. An EP of original songs was released in April 2015 just before their appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show. But Enter Sandman can in many ways be seen as the beginning of their professional careers due to the impact it had. They hadn't yet played a paying gig or sold a song, but this led directly to those opportunities.
And all three women were suffering from the flu. In fact, Pau was given steroids by the physician so she could perform because they didn't want to disappoint the 8,000 people who filled the theatre. This was recoded on their 10th anniversary as The Warning - in Mexico - and it meant a huge amount to be able to perform in front of so many fans from Mexico. The whole concert is gold.
Amazing that they arranged and recorded this (minus the strings) for the Blacklist album in just one week. The music video (with Alessia Cara) is worth a watch.

This is not their version of S&M. This is all them. Metallica gave them one week to come up with their own version for the Black List album. And isn't it fitting that they have the first track on said album???
I agree with you 100%. It was all right there, even at the start. Pau smashing her kit and singing with energy and personality. Dany with the early version of the oh so expressive "Dany Face" while multitasking on the guitar. And little Ale, on the cusp of discovering that the bassist is ALWAYS the coolest person in the room. Adorable versions of the live monsters they would soon become.
How awesome is their Abuela (grandmother), that they uploaded that so she could see it? The new version is their own, and reimagined from what is on the Blacklist Album. Live is really where they shine, because they always change things for the better.
The Young Warning Enter Sandman video was a complete live take version they did in their home rehearsal music room they called The Cave. No overdubs. A complete performace. They said this was a multi take day. Meaning if there's a mistake (wrong note or technical problem). Both Ale & Pau was praying Dany wouldn't screwup her solo so they wouldn't have to start over. Even back in the early days. They stride to play the best they can. Then go beyond that.
Let's give Dany the credit she deserves, doing the Job of two grown men, when she was 14. When your that young and the red recording light comes on and you don't make it through the first few times then the pressure builds up. Praying no, I think hoping, knowing how tuff it was. Check out Dany killing it on Atlas Rise a few years later. So impressive.

Great reaction, they are playing Brixton April 17th in London. I was going to see them for the first time in Atlanta, Georgia but the show was postponed because of a hurricane. I was heartbroken but I will survive!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I prefer without the strings. Hits harder for me with just DPA (and the Alessia backing track). My favorite version is Teatro Met.
