I 100% agree with you. I don't think anyone responding to your comment fully understands the rules. (Then again, neither do the judges!) It doesn't matter what word you answer, as long as you answer with the complete sound of the word. For instance, if the answer is "I", but your team guesses "eye", it's deemed correct. It also counts if the guessers say a longer word. For example, if they say 'certainly', but the answer is 'certain', it's correct. In this case the answer was 'beauty', and they answered 'beautiful'. It does not matter that the word has an extra syllable or that it's spelled differently. The sound of 'beauty' and 'beauti' is the same. I watched an episode earlier today where the answer was 'herd', and the guesser said 'shepherd'. They accepted that as correct. This is a very bad call from the judges.

Beautiful can be said either way, but they said it with a short i. Beauty is only said with a long i. The staff was correct, indeed.

Yeah exactly, there's no argument to be made that they need the exact form of the word and not other forms, because they've allowed such forms and even homophones are allowed. That proves they dont need the exact word, the guessers just need to say the required sound. And beautiful contains beauty. Plain and simple.

Don't quote me on this but I believe in the bonus round you have to say the exact word but in the previous rounds you are allowed to say a form of the word and still get credit for it

No one is saying it's the same word. But the show has always gone for "pronouncing" the required word as enough. Not too long ago, they accepted "marinate" for "marinade". Your next sentence is called a landslide fallacy. It's such an elementary argument, anyone with at least a decent education knows not to make such a stupid mistake.

@@heybisiheybisi842 over the years they have changed a lot of rules and I can't keep up. It used to be two celebrity on one team and the winners were only allowed to play one game now they stay on till they lose

@@2sense110 I've watched the first season too and that was never the case. As long as you pronounce the word, then you've guessed it. It doesn't matter if it was part of a word. It's easy to justify. What if the word is "CUP" and the guesser says "CUPCAKE" slowly? By your logic, the guesser said a different word. But then, can't the guesser complain and say he guessed "CUP" and then guessed "CAKE"? They have always been consistent - PRONOUNCE THE WORD and it's good.

@@heybisiheybisi842 You're wrong. If she had got them to say "beauty mark" by saying "Marilyn Monroe mole," it would have contained beauty and it would have counted. "Beuw-tif-ul" does not say "beuw-tee." The judges know the difference; they don't just make up the rules on the fly. The problem was her clue was "synonym, pretty" and "pretty" is an adjective and "beauty" is a noun. Her clue was misleading. If she had said "...and the Beast," she would have won $10,000.
