In this weeks episode of Everyday Angler we tie up the articulated version of my Ugly Bugger! (my early subscribers will remember the single hook version. Based off of the patterns of other tried and true flies like the Dungeon and Peanut Envy..this fly is easy and simple to tie, and when tied with MONO thread it makes it even quicker and easier.
I fish this fly mostly for smallmouth, but works great for any creek or river bass, I will let it swing with little twitches here and there like an injured sculpin or even crayfish. my go to color for clear water is this Barred Olive pattern tied in the video...although an all Black Ugly Bugger is one of my favorites as hellgrammite/leech or anything on darker bottom rivers.
