THANK YOU!!! I am technically challenged and this saved my butt the night before I had to use my phone to record several important videos for business. Thanks and may God bless you!
I'm a bit late to the party. I came across this video because I was so frustrated with my NOTE 9 stock video not having an option for an external mic. Is Open Camera still a thing in 2019? I have Filmic Pro, but it's not good on Android. Any other suggestions?
The Samson Go Mic was my first "real" USB microphone and I barely used it back in 2018 when I bought it. Recently I got into streaming a bit and picked up a Samson G-Track Pro and just the other day got a Q9U (when I bought the G-Track Pro, I was on the fence about getting the Q9U... I think both mics complement each other). Anyway..... my point is that Samson makes great stuff. After my experience with the quality of their GoMic, I was pretty confident about their other products. Sure beats spending $300! P.S.-I found this video because I'm curious about hooking a Q9U up to my phone but now you got me thinking, maybe I should just use the GoMic with an OTG cable/adapter. Heck, I'll try both.... the Q9U comes with a double-sided USB-C cable so I can easily plug it in pending a little more research.
This is superb. The camera and audio app on my mobile phone can read the USB mic perfectly. Please do you know why conferencing apps like Zoom and Streamyard cant?
Thanks so much.. i have an otg.? But couldnt figure out how to get my phone to stop using the inbuilt! Thanks soooooo much...i waded through alot of videos to get to this one.
Not all USB microphones will work with smartphones. My Rode USB works...but when I hooked up my Blue Snowball it did not work. The phone wasn't powerful enough to record from the Snowball (no red light on the mic). I tried connecting via a USB power hup and it eventually worked but the audio levels were much lower in volume.
Hi - great movie. I did it and it works, but the sensitivity is VERY BAD (Blue Nessie + Samsung S7). I need to be very close to the microphone to record and be heard. When I connect the microphone to the computer, it can be much further and the sensitivity will be great. Any ideas to fix this?
Just to tell you my experience connecting a USB microphone to a Moto G phone.. My Blue Snowball won't work with the phone but my Rode USB microphone works fine. Is there another video app that I can use other than Open Camera.
I know this is an older video but can I hook up any usb microphone to my Samsung Galaxy Tab s4 or note 10 phone? Does it have to say for androids or can it be a computer mic?
Can I use ANY cables or do they HAVE to be OTG cables? I have a USB Type C Male to USB A Male connected to USB A Female to USB Mini Male that goes into the Go Mic. Doesn't work. Can't I have two cables connected together like this, do I need to get a single Mini to Type C OTG cable? Can't use any data cable?
anyone tried to connect usb microphone to s10? i used type c to type c and even otg but it has that loud distorted sound. I've tried it on s7 and note 9 it works fine. anyone can advise?
@William Macdonald Well did a bit research. It turns out you can, however the latest Android versions (9) and above have issues with USB hosting. So if you have an older version of Android it should work without any problem. I have a Behringer Xenyx Q502 USB, and there's a video of another person using the same exact interface with his phone on RU-vid.
@William Macdonald Well I don't have it running yet, as I have the latest version of Android and it does not detect my audio hardware. I have seen someone else in RU-vid do the same. Also the device I listed is not a mic, it's an USB Audio interface. For your setup, you would need a USB audio interface, or there might be converters online which convert analog audio to digital usb audio. Google should help you in finding the converters if they exist. But again, a usb Audio interface should serve your purpose.
This worked for me...when you connect the mic to the camera do so before you open the app. I had the same issues. I use an old Moto G android phone. The last two videos I uploaded were recorded on the open camera app with a Rode U.S.B. microphone
You should be able to get it from Walmart, Fry's, Best Buy or any other electronic stores. Or just order Online from Amazon or Walmart...cheaper to walk in and buy 1.
If I would connect Samson Go mic to Android could it be possible to record with external mic audio for TikTok videos (right on the app). Can someone please try it out? 🙈😀
I have samples of Acapella singing of the Rode USB directly to an old Moto G Phone...The audio quality is way better than from the phone mic.. it's exactly the same sound as if the USB mic. was connected to a laptop or computer.
I think you're hilarious and delightful I'm sitting in the quiet of my home I'm having my morning coffee it's cool outside which I love and I was thinking today would be a nice quiet day to do my first episode podcast although I have a delightful and kind of serious sounding introduction it's been a month or more and I can't figure out what I want to do for solo episode so I wondered how I could get better sound than my phone although the Note 10 has amazing sound on the microphone and I googled what microphone can I hook up or can I hook up my yeti to my phone and I thought gosh am I going to carry that giant yeti from room to room if I get inspired for my podcast that would be cumbersome,. I'm punctuating because I think I should so it mentioned a small $40 so I will go for that probably but I saw your your introduction and I clicked on it and you crack me up you're so funny to watch and I just want to let you know that I subscribed because your brand of humor is my cup of tea so thank you for being so funny and delightful I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Easter weekend if that's your thing but it's my thing so my things are usually good things and I'm going to hope for you that my thing is good for you LOL that sounds weird okay well I'm kind of weird and funny too just thought I'd share enjoyed your video. 🤪😂😋🌞💯☕
